  1. Not terribly low, not a whole pile of cars sold in Kilkenny in the 90s. Logbook says 4th of February 92 Dublin was and still is where most cars are sold Something about Dublin regs Some manufacturers here register their demos in Dublin for the dealers Ive noticed. Logbook came. No months long drama on this one. And I gave it a wash. Came up suspiciously well but the paint is VERY flat. Leaked water for hours, because of all the holes the pressure washer forced water into. And took an inkling one day to give It a quick wipe down inside, so it's less of a biohazard. Lots of mould came off the headliner. Not a whole pile I need off it REALLY, but it's cheaper than the Weber kit I was looking at. Really just carb and starter will do me for now. Oh and the grille of course. They seem very very rare so I do want it. Can take a blank switch out of this so I don't have to butcher my wiring completely. Not entirely sure if they're fogs or spots however, guessing spots.
  2. There's another word Ive been using too but it's not for a family friendly board such as this.
  3. mine is anywhere between 90 and 107 degrees depending on weather and driving time but main difference seems to be speed. When I'm belting along the motorway the temp rises as you'd expect. I've never had any issues so never worried about it. 1.6 tdi 2016
  4. Guess what I missed in the work can due to being on the bloody motorway... on the plus side, max 6months and it'll be getting swapped out on the fleet replacement. new ones seem to brand new Couriers instead of Connects. load bay is roughly the same size in both, but the courier has a flatter face. looks like a Fiat Doplo actually..
  5. At Belton this afternoon...............
  6. a (theoretically) driveable bare bones 2CV
  7. Not sure with the MPI - but believe that it is only the TDIs that run the water pump off the cambelt.

Go for an SEL on 18's and stick some quiet tyres on it like Cross Climate 2's. Chose the 1.5TSi, it's significantly quieter than the diesel and less grumbly than the 3 cylinder 1.0
  9. 2 points
My Karoq Sportline 4x4 Cross Climate 2 tyres is the best ride I have ha din any car. By the "expensive audio upgrade" do you mean the Canton Speakers?
  10. 2 points
If my 1.5 SEL is anything to go by then tyre noise is far louder than anything else, especially with the standard bridgestone ones fitted.
  11. 2 points
Trim is one factor, but then it is not just which engines or wheel size it can be which tyres are on any of them. Best go test driving various and see what you think / hear.
  12. Looks like a Polestar2 But built on a VW platform Not what was hoped for
  13. I had 3 Toledos and 1 Rapid with 1.2 and 1.0 TSI engines. I found all to be utterly reliable. Obviously the basic design is of an earlier generation but they were safe and comfortable. My daughter still has my last Toledo. The car is extremely roomy with an enormous boot. The vehicles are long and narrow. The Sat Nav maps update easily with a new £25 SD card from E bay. Have you looked at the Rapid clone Toledo as you get a much better spec for your money ?
  14. I can't see how but I'm not a lawyer. If you're not fiddling with the infotainment, phone, Tw8tNav and concentrating on your driving you should be OK we managed for decades without such driver "aids" such things can made driver's too lazy and complacent anyway. It could be a sensor or alignment issue but I never rule out programming error, I doubt VWŠkoda will want you to know the real issue even when they fix it. At least now you switched it off you don't have to worry about puddles or shadows of bridges, whether either is correct I don't know but it'd not surprise me, computer programming is often not as good as it's made out to be but all your product testing in the real world will help improve it.
  15. Well the issue was... ...drumroll... ... dirty fuel injectors. Cleaned up and it's made quite a difference, even to "normal" driving, which hadn't been normal before but evidently I had got used to it.
  16. Just a tip if you are buying a new wheel... If you buy a genuine wheel starting with 3V0601025 it is classed as a normal car part. Whereas if you buy a 3V0071498 wheel this is from the optional extras catalog and the wheel is the exact same - albeit with sometimes a 40% price reduction. If you google the skoda catalog for accessories for this age youll find a PDF with all the wheels - find yours on there instead of the original code.

I have Canton in my Karoq and its pretty good as far as I am concerned. However, you need to remember in Hi-Fi terms it is not an "expensive" uprade. It's an £800 upgrade so in Hi-Fi terms, it is a budget upgrade - it is not a £3500 proper upgrade. I have no idea if it has "ambient noise deadening" as there is not a lot of info about the Canton system in the manual. But I am more than happy with it on my journeys up and down the A303. I have not 'run out of volume' with it as I did on my Octavia and Yeti. It took me a little while to find the right settings that suited my personal tastes the only fault I have with it is it plays sound files as single tracks on albums so you have gaps in live albums and song that seque into one another.
  18. If they come out without snapping then yes. With experience you can tell whether they are going to remove or snap before applying too much rotational force and with patience and experience again you can wiggle them just enough so that a penetrating agent can work its way through the joint without fracturing them. The only way you gain that experience is having broken a few 😢
  19. Your ignition problem sounds like a wiring mishmash with a ballast resistor ignition coil, running a low impedance 7.5 volt (12v when cranking) coil on a permanent 12v supply, I have some recollection of you posting before about this but could be wrong. Could also be running a 12v coil on a permanent 7.5v ballasted supply. Editted, apologies I misread your posting thinking the C word was for "coil" and not "carburettor"
  20. I've not seen what the ABS sensor clearance is - but I'm guessing not large - excess float in bearing could conceivably change gap sufficiently to trigger fault. As the pad to disc clearance is also very small, worn bearings could be causing excessive contact.
  21. @Bunnykins Makes perfect sense. How many miles has the car done? Save lots more money and do not have the cambelt replaced. Ask those advising that you do if they are aware of the VW Group / Skoda Recommendations, Guidelines or Schedule for changing it? ? Is it a mechanic / technician you spoke to or someone on a Service Desk?
  22. Thank you so much for your response. It was just that I was told by one Garage that the Cam Belt wasn't run with the Water Pump and another said it was. I'm an OAP and the difference in price is £200. Am also female and don't want to be ripped off. Hope what I've written makes sense?
  23. I expect VAG will often cast all of the OEM part numbers for all of the colours in that style, otherwise they would have to make castings for each colour.
  24. I've owned multiple 2CVs in the past (including a Van) and they are simply awesome. Ok they can have issues with the honeycomb floor structure rotting out but the chassis is a relatively easily swapped out item and many of them now have had upgraded chassis fitted. Also worth putting in electronic ignition. Doddle to work on, the bonnet slides off with no tools (so do the doors) and only 4 bolts hold each of the front wings on then you have the whole engine sitting in front of you. Excellent vehicles in the snow and also have a starting handle
  25. I'm not dead certain, because at least one common make of grille was available with either fogs or spots.

OH well - worth a go, but no results. I've asked Skoda UK, we'll see if they know...
  27. Not even close to a Capri. It looks awful. Like a banana coloured Enyuq
  28. It would be worth you browsing through the on-line Owner's Manual that would be relevant to a 2022-plate Fabia. https://manual.skoda-auto.com/004/en-com/Models There are three potential locations for USB connectors 1: On the rear-view mirror 2: In the car's rear passenger area on the back of the central arm-rest's base. 3: In front of the gear-lever, beneath the air-con controls. The USB connectors at the 1 and 2 locations are for charging only. The USB connectors at location 3 can be used for charging or for data transfer. (My car just has the two USB connectors at location 3 and I believe that this is all you get with the Fabia's standard specification.) A couple of Fabia long-term tests that may be of interest https://www.parkers.co.uk/skoda/fabia/review/long-term/ https://www.whatcar.com/news/skoda-fabia-long-term-test/n25189
  29. Thanks mate I did try Google but it only showed me like the maxton front bumper lips. Thanks for finding for me
  30. I think you'll need to choose carefully. Your Berlingo will have 130PS and 300NM @1750rpm. You are looking at the Karoq with either the 2.0TDi 115PS and 250NM @1500rpm or 1.0TSi 116PS and 200NM @2000rpm. So power and torque wise both are a step down from what you have now. Why have you discounted the 1.5TSi? 150PS and 250NM @1500rpm. With active cylinder technology economy is very similar to the 1.0TSi but performance is significantly better. It has the same low down torque as the 2.0TDi 115 but significantly more power.
  31. Sounds like you take good care and track everything on your car too. Cracking stuff. I sometimes forget not everyone here lives in the UK. 303k km into miles is only 188k miles. In km mine is now 498005 km. So nearly 500k km for people on the continent
  32. Going to test drive a 1.2tsi rapid black edition tomorrow. Looks like a car swap may be on the cards again 🫣
  33. So, I'm sure I read somewhere or maybe I asked one of the dealership mechanics when I used to go there, that there is an actual difference between the 140 / 170. I mean the engine code is different, and some other stuff may have been too. So it wasn't as simple as, skoda deliberately mapped the 170 down electronically, there may be some hardware differences too. The other thing I do, or rather don't do, is I never dry steer, and I don't mount kerbs. I simply avoid parking anywhere tight, avoid three point turns by reversing round a corner, literally have reversed down the entire length of an L shaped cul-de-sac before. That's probably saved the steering component a lot over time. Sometimes I see people's tyres randomly move stopped at traffic lights and I just think "what are you doing man"
  34. Tesla automatically set charge limit to 80% if site is busy and when charging stops, idle fee applies....... so it's quite flexible. For example, even if the site is busy, I can still set limit to 100% and come back in 50 min time as it slowly edges towards 100%. I guess key here is EV charging is flexible and different to petrol station. Enforce the idea that rapid chargers are different to slow AC charger. People shouldn't abandon their car without plan to move it when rapid charging almost finishes. I like anything that educates people about EV's different charging speeds. On brand names, travel back in time 40 years, can you imagine people say with pride that they drive a Skoda? Brand loyalty is stupid, everything changes over time.
  35. Love the name, YangWang
  36. Love it, an EV with "petrol" mode
  37. I had a Yeti L & K 1.4 a while back, currently have a 1.5 Octavia Estate and drive my parents 1.5 DSG Karoq occasionally, so know the strengths and weaknesses of all of these cars! The Yeti was quirky, well equipped but had tiny seats somehow compared to an Octavia or a Karoq. Very thirsty too, only ever low 30’s mpg. The Karoq is so much more refined than the Yeti, better cabin, seats and far larger boot too. Both give a nice high driving position. The Octavia Estate is much larger than the Karoq, particularly in the rear seats and the luggage capacity. Usually I’ll get low 40’s mpg doing a mixture of town and country driving. Motorway/ decent roads driving fifty plus mpg driving gently. It’s a very comfortable car if you’re doing a lot of driving. The SEL model is probably the best value for standard equipment, with the recent facelift, the new SE Tech models do now have heated seats as standard. However, since COVID car shortages time, new Skoda list prices have rocketed, mind you, so have VW and Audi prices too!
  38. Lets quickly address the elephant in the room. That is not a Capri and never will be. Not surprised though as Ford has already sullied the Mustang name.
  39. Another BIG Family / Taxi / Private hire for taking children around in (Yellow Cabs) sized EV for bigger families with small rear passengers maybe, or sales reps / commercial travellers on their own but needing longer range EV,s. Centre screen and how it is for right handed people in right hand drives is really rather important. But the reviewers just ignore mentioning that.

@Mark-d Be aware that some MOT Examiners do not know those are the sidelights. On less bright than as DRL,s. Some have failed vRS for no Sidelight/ Position lights as they think the Blue Dummy bulb in the headlight unit is a duff sidelight. Some have even tried fitting new bulbs to get the car a pass. Just forewarning you.
  41. The Karoq rear brakes all use the same ATE rear brake calipers and all use 272x10mm size rear discs. However, there's one important point to bear in mind... There are two different versions of the 272x10mm rear brake discs and they are not interchangeable. The 5Q0615601B version has a width of about 58mm, whereas the 5Q0615601D version has a width of about 48mm. It appears that 5Q0615601B is for "standard rear axle" and 5Q0615601D is for "4-link rear suspension". 42. Ignore any comments about the 272, I’ve owned one from new 2020, it’s amazing, loads of power and very linear, I work at Skoda and don’t see any faults apart from the thermistor housing leak, but this is on all 2.0tsi, the gpf/opf isn’t a issue and the new 280 has one, to put it in context the early 280 was good the 272 is in my opinion fantastic and the new 280 is also very good, just depends on your finances at what you want to pay,
  43. Its a USB2.0 port -The USB 2.0 specification allows Hosts to deliver 5V at 500 mA, for a total power output of 2.5 watts.
  44. Interesting thoughts, guys. Our experience was much the same as that of Skomaz. We live in a rural area. Very few used Kodiaqs available when we were shopping for one. Even fewer with towbars. And yes, I might be put off by a car that had a towbar fitted - partly because we wanted a DSG 4x4, and anything with a towbar might have given both those components a hard time, towing a big caravan, and partly because it might have been a poorly-fitted aftermarket one. It was a bit of a Catch 22 for us - try to find one with a towbar and risk it having been badly fitted and / or done loads of hard miles with a heavy trailer, or buy one without, and put up with the cost of retrofitting. We opted for the latter, but the whole "towbar prep" thing just adds unnecessary complication. If towbar prep is a £200 factory option, I bet there was never a single new Kodiaq sale that fell through, for the sake of £200. Just do it across the range and make an SUV that's fit for purpose!
  45. Mine has been updated to 1941 but in the process the system got reset. I think I forgot to reset the Auto mode to use a stronger fan setting. I shall try that next time. In any case it gets up to a reasonable temperature fairly fast - certainly less than 10 minutes.
  46. In for nct this afternoon Towed up because I didn't want to chance getting stopped. And... Clean sheet pass. So now tested until September next year. Should be 2 years but due to the unique way nct works, it goes from the month it ran out to that month the next year. Because it's over 30 years old it gets a "2 year test". If it were any younger it'd be tested until September of this year, and have to go back in again. Makes complete sense right?
  47. There's one of these being broken over in Ennis, might get the intake manifold off it incase I ""need"" to put a weber on. Seemingly the hitachi carb on this is a complex ******, so putting a weber in its place will simplify things a lot and (from looking at old forums) give a fair bit more power than the standard carb. Could always go really mental and put three 40mm Mikuni carbs on it, like what subaru America did to their bonneville speed record justy. That's a FWD 1l justy there, apparantly they squeezed 120hp out of it, naturally aspirated I might add.
