  1. Just bought a motor thankyou so much for your help 😊
  2. If it's the original radio it won't need a code entering after battery reconnection, it'll just sort itself out. The engine ECU won't lose anything either. It is mainly Haynes playing it safe. The airbag system (which includes seatbelt pre-tensioners) won't be active unless ignition is switched on, so just don't do that and you can leave battery connected.
  3. 2023 66000 miles serviced 3000 miles ago spark plugs done service before last rattle is coming from opposite side to gearbox .noise and loss of power under acceleration
  4. Garage, which is skoda independent, has been exploring number of possible solutions. They have looked after car since I bought it. Car is still in one piece. I will get codes to share.
  5. Are there any major things I should be looking out for?
  6. There is no REGULAR Servicing scheduled, advised or recommended for a DQ200 DSG which has 2 oils and a tiny filter in the MCU. This is not to say that you can not change both oils, but a main Dealership might not be prepared to, but a Service Desk person might advise it is done and will book it in, and then have no idea of the cost of Servicing a DQ200 DSG. Get done at an Automatic Gearbox specialist if getting done.
  7. Its not to do with safety, having the e-sim as you say could help if you have the car stolen, and for the same reason the GPS will help with that, plus as I do if I was to lock the key in the and my wife could not get in the car, I could open it remotely, so the bits you mention are far more use than not having them
  8. Better the devil you know. Gaz
  9. If you can live with your facelift car front end looks (I could not, which is why I bought late pre-FL 2016 ), then I'd keep what you already have for another 3+ years and just service it as and when needed. New one has smaller fuel tank, more software issues, drab interior, less powerful engine and worse suspension. It does look better than the Mk3 FL, just my opinion. What's the mileage on yours?
  10. Already mentioned and perhaps you have tried this, but quite a few radios unlock if you turn ignition on, then turn the radio on afterwards. Some radios need a full restart by pressing on button for about 30s. The key is stored somewhere in the ECU. I know this was the case in our Mk1 Superb as well as Roomster, radio got accidentally locked out in both but recovered.
  11. Still waiting... The service center has been waiting for two weeks now for a reply from the importer (tech support) to finally figure out what the next step will be. Honestly, I'm at my wits' end with them and I'm this close to calling them up and giving them a piece of my mind about why everything moves at a snail's pace.
  12. I keep a drip tray under the front of my Yeti in the garage. There is almost constantly a small pool of water formed - approx under the driver's footwell area - even after a week of non use. I did check once and it is where the air-con drain is located.
  13. I had the same problem last summer. I cured it (after some Googling) by cleaning and then wiping both sides of the the whole length of the part of the belt that goes into the drum with a silicon spray. And also a squirt of silicon (not much) into the drum mechanism after removing the trim to gain access.
  14. Some photos, that I can't upload to first post. And I found one modification is missing • Hazard light button in darker "vine" color from T5 facelift (bolt on) There's photo of spoiler that I'm thinking to install to my Fabia. Also I've found photo of VRS prototype cluster
  15. Yes the water pump is on the gearbox end of these engines. Prompted by the picture of the broken key blade, I checked up on the Skoda parts list for this age of Fabia - and the key blade is not available as a spare part from Skoda - surely that is crazy as it is fixed in place by a tiny spiral pin! So that just leaves buying a new blade from another source and no doubt there will be plenty even although aftermarket key blades, its seems, are made from harder material - so cutting it to suit the car's locks will be harder on the key cutting machine.

here's my earlier post on how to https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/536594-easy-home-smart-link-activation/#comment-5983920
  17. Update for any interested parties... Finally got somewhere with Skoda UK. They offered me 20%, £650, towards the repair cost. Better than a kick in the balls !! I feel it would have been more for less mileage and closer to warranty expiry. Thankyou to everybody who helped me with this....
  18. I agree decent if not full service history including dsg regular service. Check old MOT results as well. Amazing what comes up like bald tyres etc which points to a car that hasnt been cared for. Also MOT will note underbody corosion etc especially if its from a high road salt area. Alasdair
  19. If the carpets are dry it rules out heater matrix and no white smoke headgasket is good. From memory the water pump is on the gearbox side of some engines on mk3 fabia so it may be leaking there or perhaps(hopefully) a hose/hose clip has given up. Garage should be able to tell quite quickly where its leaking from. If it does overheat on way to garage wait till it cools down before topping up. Hope its an easy fix Alasdair
  20. So I bought a cheap Felda as a 'city runner' to take pressure off my 1990 VW Weekender, then found the rust. Or rather, the rust broke through the auto dealer patch-job about a month after I bought her, so now I need to sort her out and joining a forum is probably a good idea. :-)
  21. The photo is of Snehurka before the rust cracked through.
  22. As far as coolant leaks it could be anywhere but if tank is emptying quickly its a fairly major leak so check inside of car front carpets arent wet (leaking heater matrix) Check around any radiator hoses you can see for signs of crystals(dried antifreeze) and also radiator itself. Could also be a failed waterpump but not sure where that is on your engine. If you fill it to max and park over dry garage or even cardboard it may help pinpoint where the leak is. All depends if its dripping straight down or running along a pipe etc. Quite often drops onto undertray and runs backwards. Also does it drop overnight or when left for 24hours without starting?and is there white smoke from exhaust when car running. Alasdair
  23. Car key blade should be able to get a new one cut and fitted. Try an autolocksmith or timpsons. The handle you will get the part number off LLLparts under original manufacturer diagrams although there are some on Amazon (chinese) cheaper. Alasdair
  24. You really need to find out where the coolant is leaking from, you can't just blame the reservoir for leaking unless you already can see that it is. Maybe include your engine type/code.
  25. I'm On my second mk3 in last 6 years. Not found any problems other than the odd battery and sensor issues. Buying a used motor , same things need to be checked. ie, make sure it's been regularly serviced etc. I've been very happy with my 1.5 tsi SE L dsg estates. Good luck.
  26. East or West, your choice. The are very outdated anyway...
  27. Have a look to see if there a motorfactors near you. They may well stock them as our local one had one on the shelf as someone ripped my sons off on his mk1 fabia. As for the radio code switch ignition on and make sure radio is switched off then switch ignition off and leave for 20-30mins. Switch ignition on then radio and it should resync and start working. If it still asking for code then it may be in the radio instruction booklet or car booklet. Check its not in glove box as well. If the above doesnt work then I am afraid you may need to contact dealer it came from. Alasdair
  28. I’m very happy with my Octavia, a 2020 build mk4 estate. The boot is huge, beaten only by the Superb estate. Issues with early build mk4s have been sorted through a combination of software updates and some hardware replacements. Newer builds, I understand, are much less problematic and I’d be happy to buy one if in the market today (which I’m not cos I’m so pleased with the one I have I’m keeping it longer than I normally do).
  29. @NDW89 mine had that and still has vaccum the same way as you describe, my problem was that it made a whistling noise which dissapeared when i oppened oil filler cap. Also in cold weather i had a lot of white smoke from the exhaust which reduced substantialy after pcv change. UPDATE: Problem solved by changing haldex pump and clutch assembly. All was done under warranty. Test for this was to remove the haldex fuse from under steering wheel and do a test drive, which i have found on other forum. My haldex pump filter inside was filled with debris (as factory procedure does not include cleaning of the filter located on the pump, that caused pump motor to burn out and draw a big ammount of current but not enough to burn out a fuse. My haldex clutch plates were severely deformed and were binding even when the fuse was removed creating physical resistance which triced tcu and ecu. Reccomendation on various internet pages say that this pump filter should be cleaned every haldex service, to ensure that it does not end up the way my did. Very happy with the car now, such a shame it took so long (8 months) to sort out, thank you everybody!

Yup. Tried every combination I can find. Will just have to do it the old fashioned way with a paper and pencil. Anyone remember them?
  31. Hello all. Aiming to 300hp. My project is to build Fabia VRS hothatch, that it would be from factory, with all of OEM options that was available and options that was unavaible like power folding mirrors, auto tinting reaviev mirror, maybe rain sensor and etc. I've changed my phone recently, so I don't have a lot of photos of my car, so that's all I have😅. Have scratch on my front bumper because of E39 driver that not noticed my car while parking
  32. Well, today has been an interesting day. Collected my, new to me, Scout and when I got home, about 14 miles, someone knocked on my front door to tell me there was a wet patch under the front of the car. Aaahhh. What the heck. OIL!! I cleaned and checked the dipstick and it was DRY!! Called the garage and it is getting taken back first thing tomorrow. Plus the Bolero panel has gone blank. Nothing at all. I'll do some digging.
