  1. I likewise am experiencing this problem. My Skoda Octavia 2024 1.5 TSI (manual gearbox) cuts out between gears at low rev. The car was bought new in 2026, but was pre-registered at the dealership at delivery in 2024. I am the first owner to use it and the problem has persisted from new. I have reported it to Skoda customer service as a manufacturing fault that represents a safety issue, requesting a reference number from them. I will then report it to the DVSA. Google Gemini tells me that registering the issue with the DVSA will not appear in any records for the vehicle (i.e. it won't dissuade any subsequent purchaser). For better or worse, this at least means those suffering from this safety defect should not feel wary of registering it. If an actual recall is triggered, then it shows against all vehicles of that make and model until the individual vehicle is brought to the garage in response to the recall, at which point the recall alert is wiped from the vehicle's record.
  2. I took advantage of the very pleasant sunny weather we've had this week and got the torque wrench onto the glow plug as soon as I got home from a drive. With an initial setting of 20 NM the glow plug started turning before I hit the torque setting. The plug that came out was a Bosch. I don't know if it was the original one or not? The new one went in easy peasy. Fault codes cleared with my Launch diagnostics tablet. And the warning light on the dashboard has stayed off since. The actual replacement work took less than 30 minutes. It's only a matter of time before another glow plug goes. I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. I paid £14 for the Bosch glow plug, from a local GSF that had it in stock.
  3. Annnd just picked up her up. Water pump and LSD oil change has been done by the dealer (at no cost to me) and, full service history with Skoda, recently had DSG serviced too. Right now, I'm a happy bunny 👍🏻 All in all, an excellent service from Skoda Southend.
  4. Thanks Sharpy. Yeah. Found a guy online Who does them on the drive out the van but he seems fairly well drilled on it (6 axel stands, decent matting and a load of Milwaukee guns). Just trying to find a cheaper way round it for an old car. Don’t really want to turn it in
  5. I too am retired, I am emailing Customer Services. Frustratingly I live this close to VAG UK headquarters for VW and Skoda - the shiny ship's bows looking thing is actually VWFS - but of course you can't go and speak face to face with anyone. I'll report back when I get a response.
  6. Guessing that's JLR and not just the J part?
  7. The photo was taken while in Normal mode also.
  8. Hi all! been lurking a little while & thought it about time I introduced the pair of us!😉 My Yeti is 2013 2.0 140 DSG 4x4 L&K with 106k miles, after buying it I had the cam belt done, Haldex & DSG serviced by a VAG Indy, &the infotainment system (RNS-510 Dab) is off being repaired (constantly restarting). It's a fabulous car to drive, & hopefully will be more reliable than my Jag xf!!😆 I'm 64, & do a lot of my own work on my cars, using Indys when the work is above my pay grade! Just outside Cambridge UK I'll leave it there! See you in the forums!! Regards Skippy
  9. I've tried in the past to become a member of this community but for some reason lost track, anyhow now is What counts and it feels good to be here I'm hopeful
  10. Hello there thanks so much for your kind assistance, just trying to make certain that I abide by all community rules which I've read thus far
  11. Good afternoon to all where ever you are in the world I hope this hello is being posted the right place if not the site staff will assist me I'm sure. I live in Barbados and there's somewhat of very small Skoda community here (Stress on the phrase VERY SMALL) last Skoda fabia model sold in Barbados was in 2005 said thing for the Octavia models, at present there is no representation for Skoda in Barbados, perhaps may never be again, time will tell. I own and drive a mk1 fabia hatchback with the BBZ engine 74kw 5 speed manual
  12. You should get auto glass to fix the chips, they done that on mine but it didn’t last long, so got an official Skoda replacement
  13. Rember doing a volvo 940 which thought no probs. Just disconnect propshaft and drop Gbox then new clutch and back together. I know what you mean re crushed. They are some weight plus they never sit level and are impossible to lift when under a car. Always want to tilt the wrong way. Trying to lift it under a car is a nightmare. I got this which is an absolute godsend when I did my sons Only £50 off amazon and allows you to raise engine/gearbox independantly Needs channels to sit in though. Worst one weight wise was my son in laws Landrover 110 TD5. Gearbox and transfer box at the same time. At least its got the clearance but what a weight. Took three of us with two trolley jacks to do it Alasdair
  14. Doubt it would be easy on drive. Main problem will be getting car high enough to get Gbox out in the first place plus cant see the Gbox being much less than 60kg. Did my sons Fabia using a beam that sits accross engine bay and supports engine and gbox independently. I couldnt get car high enough to get Gbox out but managed to swing it out of the way enough to get to clutch etc. £1200 is probably about right. £400-600 for clutch and dmf and aprox 5-6hours labour as long as everything goes to plan. Reckon its a garage lift job unless you have access to a inspection pit. Factor in a new clutch slave cylinder at the same time. Alasdair
  15. I checked on skoda web for recall, for my car vin it is not needed. In fact, only cars that have alluminium subframe are involved. Mine have pressed steel subframe, not need to change bolts.
  16. Thanks for the reply. Do you have any pictures of the original and aftermarket PCVs? Do you mean the membrane inside the cover, in the right corner behind injector #4. I had a leaking rocker cover last year that I fixed with a new aftermarket one purchased from skoda-parts, i think it was AIC-brand. The price difference versus a new original one was atleast two times cheaper. When compared side by side it felt good quality. Didn't check the condition of the PCV-membrane from neither rocker cover. I stashed the original rocker cover if i happen to need it for some reason, there wasnt any cracks or deformations that i could see, maybe the seals had lost their elasticity over the years (11 at the time of removal). What i am seeing is that after hard driving i can see some fine oil mist residues around the injector well oil seals on top of the rocker cover, and im almost certain it is motor oil not diesel fuel coming from the injector fuel line pipes. Makes me think that maybe the aftermarket rocker cover doesnt have same quality seals that the original factory one had. Thinking of trying to reseal the cover with new original quality seals or reseal the original rocker cover and put it back in place. Should also check the PCVs condition from both covers. Any ideas?
  17. I think the Jag might be a grower. I'd like to see it in a normal paint scheme. The satin finish is impossible to maintain
  18. I have had the fluid changed twice. Just not this time. Agreed I will look for a specialist. The dealer will probably just change the MCU or gearbox or both!
  19. @Toothache it's still working fine 🤞🏻 probably done 6k miles on it, varied mileage, as far as calibration, I just cleared the faults with OBD11. It's since been serviced/MOT'd at my trusted garage - no issues. The hardest part is access especially if you have fists of ham and thumbs of butter like me.
  20. Thank you for the feedback. I would also like to add that MEN2_EU_VWGPx_P0180L on a VW Polo 2021 is also not working.
  21. just to confirm not working on MEN2_EU_VWGPx_P9200L Tiguan 2019 Regards
  22. It's 1.9D, right? Those use different heating from Favorit, so I'm not familiar with it. But you should be able to locate the resistor pack in the engine bay, following wires from the motor. There are two bimetal contacts that appear to short the resistors if they overheat. It's possible that the one for 1st speed got stuck.
  23. That'll be my 2023 SEAT Ateca going in then. Sit down with a courtesy cuppa and a pastry for an hour and catch up on some reading and pay nothing and leave with some peace of mind it's sorted.
  24. Hi all, Finally managed to code my cruise control in! The issue I was having was being locked out of the ECU due to the fact I was trying to code through Security access on the OBDeleven App/ OBDeleven VAG App which was the only option available for coding on an iPhone IOS. I downloaded both apps onto an android pad and I could access Coding II to enter the 11463 code which worked correctly after the ECU timer had elapsed. I hope this helps people in the future as haven’t had much correspondence from this forum so there cannot be that much known knowledge using OBDeleven for coding on here.
  25. Photo showing it in action.
  26. This thread has been helpful, unfortunately the holding down the red button trick has stopped working in my 2020 Karoq. I went into the local platinum dealership garage today and they were less than helpful. In fact I felt like they didn’t believe me and I was very surprised they had never heard of the problem! My husband had a kamiq with the same issue which was resolved with software update, but when I asked them about this they didn’t even know what software update that could be!! It’s booked in, but I can’t say I have any faith in them after their attitude today. I’m going to write down all the possible solutions offered here to present to them!

Gasoline Particulate Filter. Some have had issues with lots of short trips in cold weather. Covid years, You do not clean a OPF/ GPF in the same way as a DPF.

I believe that even petrol powered Mk4 Octavias are equipped with a particulate filter and require the weekly blat to unclog them.

I used to drive petrol volvo 940 s for years and loved them. Nearly two ton fully loaded tank that shifted when you wanted it to. Alas at 35mpg max it became a bit expensive for long runs so swapped to Octavia 1.9tdi to get 65mpg plus. Bomb proof car with no dpf to worry about. Now on a 1.6tdi and dont cover the miles required to keep DPF healthy. With the increased MPG of modern petrol engines and the price of diesel these days next one will be petrol. (Not an electric fan) I reckon at 40miles per day (10k per year) the savings on diesel wouldnt be much these days. I would go to a dealer and have a test drive to see what a petrol is like to drive. I have had diesels since 2001, (SAAB 9.3, 2010 Seat Leon 170bhp, and now Octavia Mk4 200bhp). I love the torque of the diesels, but increased cost relative to petrol now makes now makes petrol a better choice unless you are doing very high milage. I used to do 15,000 a year when I bought the SAAB, and towed a caravan with it, but on my current mileage and relative fuel costs the choice would be petrol. Another downside of newer diesels is the emissions system, which will immobilise the car and cost a lot of money if it fails, or you run out of AdBlue. As for high daily mileages, you can do more in a car than you could in a lorry with a tachograph. I once did about 600 in a day, on a 650cc motorbike, by I was young and still immortal then. More recently I did over 800 miles in a day in the Seat Leon. I had set off early from Miranda de Ebro in Spain, intending to drive home via the Channel Tunnel in two days, but it was the first Friday of the "Gilets Jaune" protests in France. I stopped for fuel near Bordeaux and was warned that nothing would move much on Saturday or Sunday, so I drove home in one go.
  31. Yesterday i took delivery of my MK4.5 Octavia vRS and this was one of the first things i`ve checked. It seems that starting with the MK4, Skoda removed the option of changing the Sensitivity. Also confirmed by a friend which has a MK2 Kodiaq. Sorry about the misinformation in my previous message. @Mods: can you strikethrough/delete point #2 from my previous message? i cannot edit it
  32. It’s a while since I noticed it but I’m sure it something like ‘2 Cylinder Mode Active/Deactivated’…….
  33. Unless it’s a UK-registered LHD Octavia/Superb/Karoq/Kodiaq, I do not believe so, no. It’s LHD only seemingly, which explains why there has been limited news over here.
  34. Flying by to say that after about 10 months since I bought the car and roughly 5 since engine swap began, it is finally on the road awaiting registration paper (local bureaucracy thing). I had some issues as is with any big work, but nothing that's related to putting CTH in previously CAV driven car, things like a leak here and there or mistake during assembly. It's worth mentioning that I have final stock CAV software ver.9971 Engine managed to complete all readiness codes. Pulls like it should both on compressor and turbo. Anything that I logged was within specification. No overheating, no undercoolling, no exhaust noise, no misfires, no smoke, fuel consumption within expectation, no rattles or knocks. What remains is a bit lumpy idle on cold weather starts due to NGK BKR7EIX plugs. It did noticeably improve after running full 45 liters of fuel with pulse gt injector cleaner which I opted to run because injectors were used with unknown past. Second thing is I had twice p0420 catalyst system efficiency below threshold (mind you, after successful readiness). At first I thought it's an exhaust leak on cheap FA1 clamp, but no, second error was with pipes done by the book. Right now I'm thinking it might be aftermarket diverter valve with flat orings, but that doesn't fit the picture much. Alternative suspect is secondary O2 sensor with 170'000kms on it. My Renault Megane mk1 also had O2 trolling around constantly but not setting codes so I'm willing to guess a lazy sensor can be good enough for self-test but not for normal operation. Took me for ever to get around making a log of O2 sensor, I have about 2 hours of it but as luck would have it, with lackluster cheap scanner instead of VCDS. I'd like to post a photo, but there isn't any obvious CTH feature to show when it sits in engine bay.
  35. As @Danoid indicated, that bit of the dogbone mount is meant to move like that with the engine. That won't b the cause of the horrible sounds. U can get a dogbone insert that will firm up the movement, but as I said - it won't b the culprit. @Danoid - I didn't replace mine, but I got a 034 Motorsport aluminium lower insert which sits around the existing bushing.
  36. Decided to get it checked out - if it is the water pump housing, I’d rather know sooner than later. Fingers crossed for me.
  37. Jaquar's future must be reliant on tariffs in the USA, China and rest of the world more than anything to do with sales in the UK. They are not British owned or financed.
  38. Not much to note, three new Tesla Open to All sites takes the total of Tesla sites for all to 121 in the UK. with prices at around 53-55p peak to charge and go, they are a very good option. Cheaper prices off peak and even cheaper with subscription. FYI a total of 199 open SC sites in UK, if you include the ones that are Tesla only.
  39. A Briskoda member, journalist, reviewer that tells it as it is. When there are faults he reports them and when he likes them that must be because they are good. 'Maybe subscribe to his channel'.
  40. Jag sales up by a quarter ! Maybe buyers getting their last diesel models before deletion. Dead cat bounce !
  41. Hi and welcome to Briskoda 👋 Normally we ask you to introduce yourself in your own topic instead of adding to someone else's but as you're new here we'll just overlook that 😁👍 Feel free to make another one if you like or if not that's cool as well
  42. Dave's son doing the talking rather than the filming etc. We know the Gridserve electric forecourts are fab and nice to see one a bit further north, Markham Vale J29A M1, so not just in SE of England. The Manchester Oasis site sounds very good too. Be good to see the new big charging site on the A303 too, Chicklade nr Stonehenge.... https://fleetworld.co.uk/instavolt-announces-next-ultra-rapid-charging-hub-on-a303-wiltshire/
