  1. Well, there's your answer (sort of); you have a different car, and it would be more of a surprise if the clutch felt the same as on your old smoker.
  2. I've not driven your car, but my experience is that a high clutch is quite normal on hydraulic clutch VAG cars.
  3. Never in my case. If I'm wandering it's a warning that I need a break.
  4. Octavia has a higher residual?
  5. 10% optimistic on the consumption. That's not unusual, although the available range mode is usually pretty accurate.
  6. Well, I don't know what spec your car is, because you're not told us. But changing the ride height will need the suspension adjusting.
  7. Load test on the battery; most places will do that for free if they get the business should you need a replacement. Or maybe the CTS.
  8. It's got cop springs, cop shocks, cop motor...
  9. He's maybe right; at least some VAG diesels do have a MAF. I don't know about the SDi though.
  10. It's common on anything with a disc handbrake.
  11. Ok, this is further than usual, but had the car been lying in the wet overnight? If so, it may just be that the handbrake had stuck on. As to the creaking, that may be dry rear suspension bushes. You could try putting a few drops of brake fluid on them if that's better in wet conditions.
  12. Almost certainly the door wiring, given that neither the window nor the lock solenoid works.
  13. Trip computer in mode [1] maybe?
  14. Check it anyway; leaks have a habit of getting worse.
  15. At the risk of treating you as a moron, read my #2 upthread.
  16. So we're clear, checking the oil level is quick, cheap and might work. @Wino identifies one switch failure mode: there's another one where a carbon particle gets into the the switch, and the fix for both is a new oil pressure switch.
  17. I'm not aware of Lucas calipers being standard on the front of a VAG of this period. The standard calipers with have either FSIII or DS3 cast into the outer face.
  18. Also @mikefelicia - I agree you need to fix the oil leak first, because that's what's scrapped your hose, but you will need to replace this hose before it bursts.
  19. Well, there is this stuff called "silica gel" that will help...
  20. For instance, ask CalMac when they last carried a vehicle with that registration on any of the outer Isles services that require booking.
  21. Well, from this screen I clicked Body "Vehicle Front" and got suspension springs, not gas struts for the tailgate.
  22. As a general observation, relays do click when they operate.
  23. More likely one or more worn injectors. But I don't know that, I only think it's possible.
