  1. You never drive on dirty roads? I find that's when headlight washers make a positive difference, and they only fire every fourth time I use the screen wash, when the headlights are on.
  2. Seems plausible; the larger the cloud of white smoke, the more plausible it seems. @AlligatorPear - Easy check. Dip the oil, and if you're missing a litre or more, I think we have a winner.
  3. Please don't use name compression sites. How do I know this link goes where you say it does? Oh and BTW it doesn't work anyway.
  4. Yeah, well even if that's not the problem it's not helping any. Loosen the clamp bolt (opposite end from the cable and control wire (thin black wire; other end will attach to alternator). Push the clamp right down the post. Align the clamp so it doesn't touch the battery box. Re-tighten the clamp (spanner tight but not gorilla tight). Job jobbed.
  5. Any other symptoms? Squealing noises, tendency for this wheel to get hot...?
  6. @Baxlin and myself just said that!
  7. I've had an example of this too. 35 years later, I can still take you to the stretch of road in question.
  8. I now wish I'd not seen that one either!
  9. I don't actually know, beyond that the devices and software I cited are specific to VAG cars. As for the computer "it depends" but my local garage has found and deleted spurious electronics codes (caused by a sticky alternator clutch) months later.

Many a true word; you've given several instances of you making driving errors, and apparently can't see how you forced Front Assist to save you (and someone else) from yourself.
  11. On that basis, Berndt Maylander is 16th in the driver standings, 1 point behind George Russell!
  12. Only one of the two will get you classified as an Audiot on sighting.
  13. What you described isn't "better balance"; it's the car hiding reaching its limits from you, by not weighting up the steering and/or squealing tyres as it approaches the limit of grip.
  14. And you apparently don't. You seem to have mistaken "lack of audio and tactile feedback" for "handling better".
  15. This strikes me as much harder and using more new coolant than opening the drain plugs or bottom hose, and allowing the coolant to drain. Then refilling through the expansion bottle.
  16. Calling that a "motor race" was a complete nonsense: 3 parade laps is not a race.
  17. You've got real buttons for Climatronic; try 5 to 10 minutes of flapperobics. May not work, but at least it's free and easy to do.
  18. You need someone competent to read fault codes using VCDS, OBD11 or a dealership grade computer.
  19. OK, if you actually cleaned the pickup pipe, then it must be either a bad pressure sender or a weak oil pump. The sender is cheaper and easier to change.

    That's a river ford, not a rut.
  21. And, if that's not enough, the engine sump is attached to the engine, and the gearbox plug to the gearbox, which is separated from the engine by the bellhousing.
  22. Only if you like wasting money. It does no good, even if it doesn't cause engine damage.
