  1. That's up to you, but it uses next to no fuel (based on using instantaneous mpg mode at 30mph in 4th and switching it in and out on a flat road).
  2. As others there isn't. The lever on my Octavia is telescopic though, so are you pushing it back in after adjusting?
  3. Good guess. And yes, I'd agree it looks good, but it's way cheaper to replace the belt than the entire engine. Your call.
  4. Oh wad sum po'er the giftie gie us, tae see wursel's as ithers see us!
  5. Like they said; it's the position selector switch on the gearbox can't tell when you're in P/N and to deinhibit the starter circuit.
  6. If you'd bothered to read the thread properly instead of doing your usual "I'm right and everyone who says something other than 'yes sir, how high sir? three bags full sir' is wrong" you'd have seen me say that up-thread.
  7. That statement is correct. If SUK (well named) and/or the relevant main stealer are trying to evade liability, you may have to take legal action (oh noes).
  8. Well, if you're happy you can handle the unassisted steering for trips you normally do, go for it. You may well be right about the SAS, but you'll need VCDS, OBD11, or a dealership computer to "prove that" to non-VAG "vehicle technicians". Meantime, if you have a PAS fluid reservoir, check the level.
  9. Or, put the other way, an FMIC suffers less from heat soak, so you can map more aggressively with a custom map and make more power.
  10. Very slowly indeed!
  11. A For Audi - Glasgow area.
  12. If you type @$user_name, until you get a context menu that shows the user you want, then click on it, you get a hot link that only shows the username. If your just want to thank someone, click the grey bottom right on their post and make it go blue, which increases their rep score and saves bandwidth.
  13. This only last for an hour from time of posting, but the edit option is under the ellipsis "..." top right on your posts.
  14. Also @Kharl In which context, can you get ultrasonic injector cleaning if you can't get new injectors?
  15. Hint - The garage owner's wallet is connected to the repair bill, just like your's is. My wallet isn't. Who can give you disinterested advice, garage, or guy on interweb?
  16. Ok, now read the actual facts - Gas laws - Wikipedia . Do you still say that compressing air with a turbo doesn't make it hotter?
  17. Yes, and code it to your car, which would be an issue for anyone else to do in your situation.
  18. That's interesting; on a 2002 car with Climatronic the only time you need to adjust the fan speed yourself is normally to (de)select demist mode.
  19. Ah, that's a very different question then. There's no need to remap with a FMIC itself, but you will need a remap with the big turbo, and it would be best to have the FMIC in place first. Oh and ignore anyone who tries to say that the gas laws don't apply to diesel engines. If that were the case, why would TD engines even have intercoolers?
  20. No, but there's no point unless you're doing further tuning and/or racing the car. What would be a good idea is one of the variations on a Swiss cheese, pikey or Audi grille mod for your RH inner arch, to let out more hot air faster.
  21. @SashaGrace may well be able and willing to help you.
  22. Well, in English, the visible bolt is attached to a captive nut inside the box section. What the OP did was force the bolt enough to break the captive nut loose.
  23. You'd need 1, and normally get 2, if the car is fitted with remote central locking and/or a factory alarm system.
  24. Well, it's not cheap, but you get more options in a registered copy of VCDS than in the plain download, and more again in the full paid version.
  25. You may know it as "tracking", "alignment", "(suspension) geometry"... Anyway, it's correcting the length of adjustable links, settings of eccentric bolts and positions of adjustable mounts (as applicable to the car) to get the suspension geometry within manufacturer's tolerances.
