  1. It's not possible to pair a new remote fob without using some kind of diagnostic equipment including VCDS. Any guide that claims otherwise, is for a different, older vehicle - I'm afraid you're wasting your time by following them. Your car is basically a bunch of computers all linked together so it's not surprising you need a computer to make changes. It's designed to make the dealers life easier, not the drivers I'm around Cambridge most weeks so I should be able to take a look. Drop me a PM and I'll see when we're both free, it should only be a 10-15 minute job to do an autoscan and pair the fobs. Not on a 2012 Superb. VAG changed the immobiliser so it needs a PIN and SKC to complete the pairing. Dealers and other authorised ODIS/Fazit users can request a SKC but it's never actually shown to the technician so can't be shared. There are other 3rd party tools can perform immobiliser pairing - but not VCDS in this instance.
  2. At a guess, it's the standard MK60 ABS unit failure... You'll either need a replacement ABS hydraulic unit or to have yours repaired For example: https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/300876-01435-00778-and-01423-fault-errors-all-arrived-at-once/ Repair guide: https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/190784-how-to-repair-espabs-fault-with-vag-repair-kit/?hl=%2Bg201+%2Breplacement
  3. You ideally need someone with VCP or ODIS-e as they can directly modify the lighting config rather than using a byte 18 preset
  4. I think they just used any wire they had 🤣 Given there are only two wires, they must be power and ground. CAN-bus doesn't provide any power so it's very unlikely to only have CAN high and low wires...
  5. I think you might be looking at the first year payments...? If you scroll down, you'll see second year onwards payments:
  6. @Yetianimal - were you able to check if my previous theory was correct? Mostly to help anyone else in a similar situation but also as I'm genuinely curious. I've added my post below for reference:
  7. If I remember correctly, if you enable "digit speed" in MFD data, it might hide the "Alt. speed dis" option... I haven't got a similar car to confirm this but it may explain why it was missing and then reappeared after the reset. You may have unintentionally caused it but of course the owners manual makes no mention of this... Disabling the "digit speed" should restore the "Alt. speed option".
  8. Should be under settings and something like "Alt. speed dis" if I remember correctly. If it's not there, you car hasn't been correctly set up from factory or has been messed with (even if you're not aware it has been)
  9. My 2018 245 vRS doesn't have a GPF - I thought they came in on the MY19's but I'm not 100% sure. Be careful of the clutch, based on various threads and the Golf GTI, it's not a particularly strong item and may need replacing shortly after the remap...
  10. I don't think you can 'remove' CP from a CAN-gateway. It's only something I've seen offered on hacked headunits. There are plenty of services who can do remote CP removal but you'll need a VAS5054a or similar. Not sure where in Ireland you are but a quick google suggested: - https://www.adverts.ie/other-motor-services/delete-component-protection-vag-grup/15237415 - https://www.facebook.com/lostkeysNI/ No idea if either are any good so it's not a recommendation
  11. I expect the light switch might be the most obvious place? You can also get can-bus modules that'll generate a switched live and lighting wire from the original headunit quadlock.
  12. It'll depend on the cluster but at least some will let you change the tyre circumference: https://www.golfmk7.com/forums/index.php?threads/speedometer-calibration-with-obdeleven.349584/
  13. I'd be amazed if the sand effected GPS reception by any significant amount, a quick google suggests various folk used GPS during sandstorms due to it's reliability in those conditions! To be honest, I can't see any reference to the Columbus showing any kind of fog/mist effect. The only reference to grayed out area's seems to be newer hybrid vehicles to denote electric range... edit: The FM RDS-TMC data to show traffic info on the satnav is also capable of showing weather conditions. No direct reference to it being used in the UK but TMC certainly looks to support it - could be a plausible explanation.
  14. Say what? The signal from the satellites only determines the vehicle position, if there is a degraded or missing signal, the car will show the last known location. The map data is all stored in the headunit or on SD card and will be unaffected by atmospheric dust
  15. I'd be tempted to sell your HEX-CAN USB on eBay as they tend to go for £250-£300 It'll probably work out cheaper than the upgrade path
  16. I'd also get it scanned for fault codes as that might give some clues
  17. I'd probably try https://www.vagcarcoding.com/
  18. 450'C is pretty low for a regen. For reference, this is a regen from a 2012 CR140 where all three EGT sensors reported 600+: I'd also concerned that the soot mass actual (measured?) seems to be 0. Makes me wonder if the car has been mapped or running some messed with software... 30ml of oil ash is also very low for a car on 156k miles (mileage based on your post here https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/502888-20-cr-engine-injector-seals/?do=findComment&comment=5646486).
  19. Clusters of this age also have a few issues which cause various LED's to either not work or be dimly lit when they shouldn't be... If there are no fault codes for the power steering etc and the battery checks out, you could also consider sending the cluster to an electronics repair shop. There are a few companies online who offer this service but I'm not sure if they cover Ireland
  20. Pretty sure it's a 'sealed for life' gearbox so requires no maintenance. If you're doing mega miles and planning to keep it for many years, it might be worth doing but otherwise I wouldn't touch it 👍
  21. Pretty sure vcds isn't going to help with immobiliser transfer on a 2009 car I'm afraid 😟
  22. You'll need a decent autolocksmith to transfer the immobiliser and odometer over and pair the keys. You'll probably also need to find the radio code as that's stored in the cluster too. I'd stick to the same part number... As for the steering controls, that sounds like something has been replaced with the wrong part. Hard to offer any detailed advice without understanding the full picture with part numbers and coding I'm afraid.
  23. I think you can do something similar with obdeleven. I've never used it so I can't give instructions. It'll be a different format to vcds so you might also want to post on the obdeleven forums to see if someone can provide a scan for a similar vehicle. You can then compare the two scans to check for obvious differences. I've managed to compete obdeleven and vcds scans in the past but it's not easy given the format differences and number of adaption channels 😕
  24. It's probably worth adding an autoscan from vcds and adaptation maps from both 09 and 5f. Without seeing how the car is configured, it's hard for anyone to offer advice...
