  1. Hi Ian, welcome to the forum. Have you used the GPS SD card that was supplied with the car? I'm not sure if the VAG protocol has changed since MY16, but I think you will need a specially formatted card. There is a member on this forum who has updated ones available at reasonable cost.

  5. Hi Alex, let us know how you got on once you have given it a good charge, there are a lot of others who are not familiar with the performance characteristics of EFB and AGM batteries. It's useful to know if members manage to recover batteries with fading performance. - NB. you don't need to remove the battery from the car to charge - just make sure you connect the Negative (black) charger clamp to the flat tag on the firewall (not to the battery terminal itself).
  6. If your budget can run to it, I can recommend one of the Ring RSC range of chargers - I have the RSC608 (8 Amp) Failing that, make sure the charger you do buy has a AGM/EFB setting.

Hi Alex, I suspect your battery has died - possibly from low use during the winter, there has been mention of a dodgy batch of Molls, but I think this faulty batch was from more than three years ago. Unfortunately there is no practical way to top-up the electrolyte in these batteries. I rather suspect your Dealer will say "consumer item, not covered under warranty" but ask anyway. I'd try charging it and giving it a test to see what happens - also check the alternator output voltage at the battery terminals.

Hi Noms, you will need to use a battery test meter to check condition (after a full charge) NB. due to energy recuperation system, you will normally find the vehicles alternator will only charge battery to approx. 75% max. It seems that Skoda discontinued the Maxidot battery SOC function before MY16
  10. I suspect, unless you have some continuing parasitic drain on the electrical system while the car is locked, that your Moll battery is faulty - I have seen references to a faulty batch of batteries from this manufacturer.

  13. Hi Fraser, welcome to the forum. It sounds as if your alternator output may be low, not familiar with Fabia but assume it doesn't have engine idle stop - is that correct? If so, new battery shouldn't have needed coding-in to system, but it may pay to check this is the case. Is the auxiliary drive belt ok? (i.e. not slipping)
  14. Hi Langers, are you sure of that? I'm sure I've seen references that ACC used both the front radar AND the camera.
  15. In which case I believe the correct camera is already in place - it should just require the correct stalk and coding.
  16. Hi Mac, welcome to the forum. Being able to code-in ACC depends on the correct camera being fitted (the one in front of the rear-view mirror) it also requires a different control stalk. You MAY have the correct camera installed as standard - but probably not. Does your sons spec. include lane assist?

St Pats town old boy from the 60s, avatar is my Mk2 Cooper S during the 73 Heatway Rally (the big one-observation event for world rally status) That photo was almost certainly taken in the last stage in division 2 before Greymouth. My Co-driver was pedalling at the time and I think this was just before we got airborne over a bridge resulting in a shattered front disk and a broken steering-arm! I wish the photographer had been a bit further along in the stage.
  18. Assuming this is a manual gearbox, I agree with JR - faulty clutch/flywheel causing a selection problem with engine running - reasonable; Were you still unable to select neutral with engine stopped?
  19. Hi, my understanding is that it's actually illegal to leave the engine running while the driver is not in or near the vehicle.
  20. The pair of Febi Bilstein struts I fitted 4 years provide just the right level of lift assist.

  22. Hi Oneshot, welcome to the forum - I suspect that the additional battery in circuit will confuse the supposedly 'clever' micro-hybrid charging system. Unlikely to damage anything but you may find that without coding the additional battery capacity into the BMS you will get little (or no) charging from the vehicles alternator. Worth a try though.

  24. Hi David, welcome to the forum - a reminder if you have the variable-height floor, there is a weight restriction (max. 80KG, I think) with the floor in the raised position.
  25. Hi Mike, welcome to the forum. Try pushing a small pin through the wire insulation into the core where it exits the switch - then use that as multimeter connection. This will confirm correct operation (or not) of the switch itself. The pinhole in the insulation will tend to self-heal when you remove the pin.
