Experience of upgrading the firmware on Amunsden MIB2.5 system
Iāll check that out, only problem I have is the when playing music via Bluetooth. Majority of the time it works fine, but sometimes when the song changes it still displays the same song playing, other times it gets in a right hissy fit and only plays 1 song on repeat. Iāve had it a few times where I have to completely reconnect my phone as well So I was thinking thatās got to be some kind of bug. I was looking at Skoda servicing and doesnāt specifically mention āsoftware updatesā like other manufacturers do during servicing.

Whatās the official method of upgrading software? I have Columbus, is this something the dealer should do during a service?

conversion from xenon to led
Email notification is in English but your message here isnāt, weird. Never heard of them, Iām very much a person who believes in buy cheap pay twice. So personally I wouldnāt touch them as changing the bulbs involves taking the wheel arch liner off and not something Iād want to often, so if those very cheap bulbs end up being rubbish youāll have to buy other ones and repeat the process. Iād stick with Osram or Philips, but as youāll see the prices are high compared to those cheap ones. Have a look at this guys channel as he tests bulbs in his octavia. Hereās a video of arguably the best two xenons His reviews seem very informative even though itās in German and subs donāt work, but later in the video he has side by side videos

What size wheels/tyres will fit to Superb III
Just a heads up for people who want genuine wheels, always buy the accessory wheel rather than the ānormalā one example Skoda stratos 3V0 601 025 C (8Z8) is rocking Ā£438.07 each But if you look at the accessory list Skoda Stratos 3V0 071 495 C (8Z8) is a Ā£191.00 each.

conversion from xenon to led
Just found this One of the comments he says theyāre fine in the rain, but thatās hardly torrential rain, so Iām not sure if his comment is based on that result. might be worth commenting on that video to see if he can answer your question If theyāre not legal thatās the risk youāll have to take should anything happen and insurance tries to wriggle their way out of paying

conversion from xenon to led
Iām not sure on the legalities in Spain but UK it is illegal. Why do you want to change to LED? If itās purely for light colour then see if Osram Cool Blue Boost is legal in Spain, if itās not legal then Osram Cool Blue Intense most likely will be. As lights are to see where youāre going you really want lower Kelvin rating but then I admit it looks dated these days.

Superb 280 mpg realistic
Surely if you drive the 280 it should be SPG (smiles per gallon) measured?

Rear Brake Discs
Is it possible you can take a picture of the rear disc hub? As these are coated Iām hoping it still looks new. Friend of mine has these on his car which is a totally different male and still fine
-
Rear Brake Discs
It very much depends on your model as to which brakes you need. I might be wrong but on the 220/280hp the rears are vented and 310mm , if yours is not vented then it should be 300mm. Iām buying these personally very soon, but getting my local dealer to install them for Ā£150, expensive I know but independent was around Ā£5 cheaper https://www.eurocarparts.com/p/brembo-brake-disc-10444224A https://www.eurocarparts.com/p/brembo-brake-pad-10144208A

Door handle stiff
Very similar, Iāve been doing more searching and Wurth HSS-2000 looks to be the ideal product to use for relubing, not exactly cheap mind you. Iāll be purchasing that as it sprays like a liquid then turns into a grease, so itāll penetrate in nicely, Iāll spray the door latch lock itself as well
-
Door handle stiff
For my car it was lack of lubrication and back to normal for now. I did only use plusgas though so not expecting it to long, unless it dislodged a bit of grit/dirt
-
Door handle stiff
Yesterday I did spray a little plus gas by the handle bit, didnāt seem to do much. but today⦠So I guess it needed some time to think about it and now behaving

Door handle stiff
Possibly but surely it would be hard to open from the inside as well, hmm
-
Door handle stiff
Forgot to mention when the door is open the handle isnāt stiff and opening from the inside is fine when the door is closed. My old car (Passat b5.5) had an issue like this but there was a cable with a plastic end and you could move that forward a few notches to make it tight again. Does the Superb have this hidden somewhere rather than visible on the Passat?

Door handle stiff
So after 4 or so years I have my first problem with my superb. The drivers door is quite stiff to open, Iāve sprayed it to see if it helps but I doubt it. Any ideas? https://youtube.com/shorts/EpO9gO7Uq1Y?feature=share BTW I donāt normally open my doors like that, just showing the difference between 1 finger opening on rear compared to the fronts š

Rear brake disc and pad question
I actually used that on my wifeās Fiat 500 drums, worked a treat if not a little messy. Iām going to go with the brembos and if they do go funky eventually then Iāll hammerite them
-
Rear brake disc and pad question
If you look at the pads they donāt look flat in places, itās odd. One of my friends installed the brembos and been fine for no rust for a couple of years so if I can get that Iāll be happy. Rang my local dealer and Ā£156 to install the discs and pads, I thought that was expensive so rang a VAG independent and basically same price, madness. But the time I buy a battery maintainer and vcds Iāll still be quids in I suppose
-
Rear brake disc and pad question
This is the state of mine and how little it actually bites down and pads quite, itās done around 39k miles. Hub rust is the worst annoyance as itās so visual
-
Rear brake disc and pad question
My rear discs and pads need changing as too rusty and pads waffer thin. I'm thinking of getting Brembo discs (300mm) as they have the painted hubs in black, so no more rusting hubs apprantly. I know some people say go Pagid, but are the hubs painted on those? I don't mind going Pagid pads with Brembo discs if it's really worth it, or shall I go to Brembo discs and Brembo pads? Niggling bit in my brain is I know VAG use Pagid for certain things (normally suspension parts) but if they were to use Pagid then I'll be in the same situation in a few years time with crap brake parts again, having said that there was a revision from 2016 discs and pads so OE is probably better these days, but I very much doubt they have painted hubs either

Winter Wheels
I was looking at the Skoda accessories brochure, which is here https://www.skoda.co.uk/_doc/08dde6bc-3689-47b7-a965-d3d059ee90c7 On Page 5&6 it has the alloy wheel collection and next to Orion & Triton it has a snow logo, indicating winter alloys, but surely if people wanted a cheap set brand new OEM you'd go for Stratos as it's Ā£191 per wheel compared to Ā£199 for Orion and Ā£215 for Triton ? I know for winter tyres you want as narrow tyres as possible, so 215 is ideal (not sure why people put fat tyres on as thats the worst possible thing to do!), but what I can't remember is, do you need the spokes to be as big as possible (Orion & Triton) so snow doesn't form inside the wheel, or is it the other way round? can't remember š

Columbus MIB update from SD card - any risks of borking it?
Excellent, I believe the maps are updated twice a year if you want to keep as updated as possible. I only ever done it twice in my 4 year ownership but will be doing it annually from now on. Iām happy itās free though as I know Audi you have to pay which is dirty, not sure about VW though
