  1. Exciter wire starting to pull off its alternator contact. It really wants rerouting so its path is maybe 1cm shorter. Worked on my Octy (TDi 110).
  2. Car doesn't know the words? Seriously, if you can reproduce the noise at will, ask a garage to have a mechanic accompany you on a demonstration with you driving.
  3. Have you slipped a decimal place? No way does a TDi run 10_000 RPM.
  4. Well, there's a fault in the display itself, as it's flashing between a faulty "S" and "D1".
  5. Agreed, both about signalling and about "lane enforce". People who like the system clearly can not conceive of a situation where it is desirable to drive "between the lines" but to one side or other of the lane centreline, On "hot slicks have more grip", well yes, but they also have different rubber compounds to road tyres.
  6. Stop shouting! Don't quote FleaBay's tracking cluff if you want useful technical answers.
  7. This is an informed guess, based on something similar happening with my old Octavia. The trip reset button is binding on the instrument glass, so reach through the steering wheel, catch it between 2 finger nails, and physically pull it out.
  8. I've been in both over the same road. The Superb is more comfortable.
  9. That may be the issue; "cheap scanners" are not supposed to clear latching fault codes like this.
  10. Why? IME the main practical effect of rear discs is to give you more frequent bills for rear brake replacement,
  11. Quite the reverse; the ECON(omy) setting turns the A/C OFF when active.
  12. No idea, since you haven't bothered to tell us what width either set of wheels are,
  13. Gearbox oil is thicker, and stinkier.
  14. I see lots of claims that $this and $that, but no actual explanations of things like the chemical reaction mechanisms that are implied by the claims.
  15. "Snake oil? Not required? Does not improve performance? Possibly dangerous (mostly to the engine)?"
  16. Main Stealers are notorious for "up-selling stuff", by which I mean trying to persuade you to buy things that won't do any good, as long as they're not provably harmful.
  17. NO! NIET! NON! NEIN!...
  18. Yes, and well worth the money for the time it will save on your first couple of jobs using it.
  19. What they used should be stated on the invoice. It should last more than 4_000 km before it starts thickening up too.
  20. Well, 312mm disc 16x6.5" 5x100 will fit under VAG alloys as per the Octavia 1 Elegance, Lauren and Klemens, and (v)RS models.
  21. Not without knowing which size brake callipers and which hub fitment you have.
  22. OK, what spec (VW 500 series number) and viscosity are you running? What kilometerage since the last change?
