  1. Birmingham built reservoirs in in Wales, and when the Thatcher Con government privatised English and Welsh water boards the then mayor of Birmingham actually did say that they were due their reservoirs back.
  2. On my experimentation (1.9TDi 110 Elegance) a whole 0.1 mpg delta (out of about 60mpg) on a flat road.
  3. No idea. What is the unladen mass of the trailer?
  4. Not even a single "clonk"? If that's the case, I think @Breezy_Pete suggestion of a broken solenoid wire may well be right.
  5. "Bother, and other chemical words"?
  6. Paws4Thot replied to Lego82's topic in Škoda Kamiq
On the filler cap it says "R16, R17 or R18", depending on the wheel size supplied! You have 17 inch wheels!
  7. Unless it was "authored" by an "Artificial Idiocy" (AI) system, I have no clue.
  8. I can tell you how to fix that; take the slack, wrap round the fitter's neck, and pull tight. 😏
  9. Where I live the answer is "where do you work wrt your home?"
  10. Are you certain it's actual leather and not a rubbery faux leather?
  11. That's certainly how "Finnegan's Waxoyl" used to work.
  12. Quite possibly. It looks like it has somehow ingested parts of the dipstick!
  13. Predictably, I prefer the 10 spoke to the 6.
  14. That's a part number, not a paint code.
  15. These days, with a CO meter. It used to be possible to work by exhaust colour, but that needs leaded fuel. By ear and/or a tachometer. Set the slowest speed where the engine idles without any sign of stalling.
  16. No. A timing light is used for dynamically timing the ignition, usually at idle speed on a hot engine. From memory, set the points gap and adjust the timing manually with the engine off. Now mark the relevant timing notches on the crankshaft pulley and timing marks (on the block near the pulley) with white paint or typist's correcting fluid, and allow to dry. This stage is best done in a dark area. Connect the light between the distributor cap and number 1 cylinder, then start the engine. Point the light at the timing marks, and look to see if the mark on the crank pulley aligns with the painted static mark. If it does, well and good. If it doesn't, adjust the distributor very slowly and carefully until they do align.
  17. A local to you bodyshop should be good. Don't contemplate genuine "Top Secret Gold" because that was over £200 per litre the last time I saw a price for it.
  18. If it helps any the metallic purple (qv) is stunning, and "Baywatch yellow" is super common.
  19. It is illegal to DIY recharge air con.
  20. @JACK007 You haven't given sufficient detail to say that the broken with is $colour and only that one colour. You need to continuity test the wires to confirm which one(s) are broken. Intermittent faults are exactly that, intermittent. You can't test for them and expect them to stay broken for evermore until they do. Any yes, leaving the windows open will cause the volumetric alarm to activate intermittently.
  21. Misfires are usually an ignition problem not a fuel problem. So whatever applies to unspecified engine from plugs, coil, coil packs, distributor, HT leads, dynamic ignition timing...
  22. If I'm not commenting, it's cos I have nothing to add.
  23. You can get black silicon boost pipes.
  24. @Kharl I don't have a Fabia manual either, but what @Alasdair1 says above is basic sound mechanics for any engine.
  25. Ok, I was already 95% you had a broken wire in the driver's door bellows, and it's now over 99%. If you don't feel confident to fix it yourself, look for an auto electrician near you, and give him each symptom as a separate item.
