  1. Could have carbon build up on the valves, worth taking the manifold off and investigating
  2. There was a bulletin on some models to remove the engine cover
  3. Rear pads are almost always less thick than the front and they last longer as the braking efficiency is lower on the rear.
  4. The end note is that they aren't going to pay for your engine when it goes bang
  5. I agree, fuel economy will be noticeably higher even without trying
  6. Sounds like low voltage problem worth checking the charging system/battery
  7. I feel the 1.0 actually feels nippier than the 1.5 untill you get to high speeds
  8. Are you using quality fuel? I've seen people using Archoil 6400-D and going from 200 mile regens to 800 miles between regens.
  9. I haven't got the tpi to hand, as I only downloaded the data for my vehicle which is 1.5, but if you log into erwin you can easily find it. It mainly effected the smaller and older engines. As the others suggest you would have to remove the gearbox and make and inspection.
  10. Problem is a lot of these vehicles are not getting serviced at the dealers. Maybe the first 2 or 3 years but after that they go independent so these tpis etc never get carried out.
  11. The tsb is not a figment of my imagination
  12. You would be surprised what sort of ideas they come up with now.
  13. Remove flywheel bolts and add thread lock.
  14. They are very common for the shoes to stick to the drum. Brake dust and moisture causes it then the vehicle has been standing for a while. Maybe the cylinders were leaking but as for the bearings they probably got you on that one.
  15. Looks like it could be the old oil leaking past the flywheel bolts problem. Not seen it on the newer stuff before though.
  16. Id think you would be fine to let it go a bit longer unless you have some sort of extended warranty then I'd get it done.
  17. I wouldn't touch it unless you got proof of work by a decent garage.
  18. Need to check the history of the car really to see what it's had done in the past.
  19. They saw you coming by the looks of it
  20. I'll add these to my basket, they aren't the stinky ones are they?
  21. I've just got some Yokohama v701 and they are rated at 67db which is about the lowest you can get. I'll try post an update when I have the wheels on the car.
  22. I've seen them spin the thrust bearings on the crankshaft.
  23. I've fitted quite a few on both the 1.5 and 1.0 you should be able to do the job yourself, just be careful as they are easy to break.
