  1. For Park Assist to work it needs to be able to detect the vehicles alongside, hence the need for 4 extra sensors - 2 on each side by the wheel arches. I only rarely used Park Assist on my Mk3, but it did frighten my ex-SWMBO when I took my hands off the wheel and the wheel started whizzing round which made it worthwhile!
  2. As you correctly say a momentary push button is required. Many owners of VW Golf Mk5 & Mk6, Audi A4, etc. without a start/stop have done exactly this using the start button from those models (when I owned a B7 RS4 this was how it was equipped from the factory i.e. key switch for accessory and ignition plus a push button for start).
  3. Do you mean going full keyless start or keeping the key to turn the ignition on but with a start button? First complicated (additional module, lots of recoding), second just needs a switch in parallel with the start position of the ignition switch.
  4. Depending on the spec it may not have those features., they are not standard on all variants. You need to verify what the spec is of the exact model that you are leasing. What headlamps do you have? Automatic high beam isn't standard on all headlamp types. Does it have keyless start? If not then it won't have keyless entry - even if it does that's no guarantee that it has keyless entry.
  5. Is the child lock physically set on the door, that disables the interior door handle? Check by opening the door and turning the child lock setting device using the key.
  6. That's a shame it was a great way to avoid having to buy newer larger cards on earlier MIB1 & MIB2 updates and worked well on both 8GB and 16GB Skoda SD cards. I've personally used it successfully on Skoda 8GB, Skoda 16GB and Audi 16GB SD cards.
  7. It worked for me when I had a MIB1 Amundsen and the later nav updates wouldn't fit, so I don't see why it's not worth trying in this case - especially as the cost is £0.00 to try it.
  8. No, VCDS allows you to change the settings of the software but it does not allow you to edit the actual software or to download new software. It's a diagnostic tool not a reprogramming/flashing tool.
  9. Try reformatting the SD card to FAT32 using the smallest possible cluster size (2K or 4K), that reduces the amount of space wasted by the many very small files in the nav data.
  10. You don't say if you're asking about estate or hatch, but my guess is estate???
  11. Since most of us here don't speak French here's a translation of octaviars5e's post made using Google translate
  12. The private VW test track at Ehra-Lessien has a long enough straight (with banked entry and exit). Ehra-Lessien
  13. The factory fitted infotainment didn't have CarPlay until the MIB2 versions, which were fitted from mid 2015 production onwards. My early 2015 production date Octavia had a MIB1 so it didn't have CarPlay so I can't see a 2013 Octavia having CarPlay from the factory.
  14. Is Max a distant relative of Nigel Mansell?
  15. No, 100% standard - no aero tweaks, no remaps (none needed as the car - Audi RS4 - had 420PS). I personally drove mine at 140mph before running out of autobahn and it was still accelerating well not just 'gaining speed'.
  16. If there is no 61 in the scan and no slave battery management module shown below 19 in the scan then there is no battery management and hence nothing to code. A very good clue is whether stop/start is fitted - if not then it's 99.9% certain there is no battery management.
  17. VAG has 'history' of not setting the limiter too carefully - on a previous car the limiter was allegdly also 155mph but there were many members of the owners website I belonged to posting videos showing a GPS speed of 168mph (on a level unrestricted autobahn in Germany). I know what you mean about speed difference - I used to travel regularly to Germany on business shortly after reunification and hired an Audi 90 - the number of times that a Trabant would pull out in front of me on a autobahn when I was doing well over 100mph (and it was going MUCH slower) was quite scary!
  18. If you're planning to drive into certain towns in France (Paris, Lyon, Grenoble, Lille, Strasbourg, Toulouse, Chambery, and Marseille) then you need to display a crit'air sticker and be aware of any pollution related restrictions.
  19. So the battery management still thinks you have the old knackered battery...
  20. Took our 1.4TSI to France going down to the Med and back, never felt under-powered even when fully laden (with wine!) climbing onto the Massif Central.
  21. For reasons known only to VAG they call an AGM battery 'fleece'.
  22. There are several examples on here of cars that have been rejected by owners for faults such as this being subsequently sold on to new owners - BEFORE Skoda have released the software fixes, so presumably having been sold with the faults still existing and the dealer knowing that the fault existed and wasn't fixed.
  23. On more than one occasion with my previous RS4 after filling up I could drive for up to 100 miles and see the predicted range be greater than when I started - how come? Because the previous few days had been rush hour stop-start traffic on the M27 commute to & from work so the predicted range was based on a fuel consumption of around 15mpg, but I was actually driving at a steady speed on dual carriageway and motorway with a fuel consumption of around 25mpg. The predicted range assumes the driving conditions will be the same after filling up as they were before filling up, when this assumption isn't true then the predicted range is meaningless.
  24. Unless the charging point was connected to separate Grid supplied only from renewable sources there is no way to prove that the charging was 100% from renewable sources. Paying for electricity from renewable sources just puts that electricity onto the National Grid, what you actually USE is whatever has the lowest resistance path from generator to consumer at that moment in time - which means it is very feasible that while you pay for 100% renewable you could actually consume 100% fossil fuel generated electricity.
  25. No, the free upgrade path to W10 still exists but .... the OEM (Novatech) configuration on my desktop confuses the Windows installer and it refuses to do the upgrade so I'll have to do a complete clean install of W10/11 and then reinstall all my programs again - and it just isn't worth the wasted week.
