Thanks.... They beat the mib2 high to publish (on servers) even for Seat that didn't have the last mib2 high release with the part number and Seat FeC missing. That one is going to be interesting to see whether it was a big mistake or Seat decided they would stop funding mib2 high releases so their maps get taken out of the VAG releases. You have to use firmware surgery to get 192 loaded on a Seat to make it look like a Skoda unit.

Will give some of these a whirl on a Seat standard unit today ("Amundsen"). Suspect the top one still exceeds the 16gb card as before so the same options of what to do still apply as detailed on your link to the 1730. Get a Vag 32gb card, use a different region in Europe or delete language files if that trick still remains and all of Europe hasn't outgrown that trick. Thats a footnote for those that didnt install 1730.

two solutions:
1. order 32Gb or bigger SD card with correct serial number from Ali
2. remove unnecessary voice input files from /maps/00/sds/

Try reformatting the SD card to FAT32 using the smallest possible cluster size (2K or 4K), that reduces the amount of space wasted by the many very small files in the nav data.

Indeed.

I haven't tried 2. I'm letting Seat people test that out. The all Europe file has grown by .2gb, whether once you have deleted the language file it still fits pass (the language trick). Only a short term fix since it will continue growing over the next releases.

Most Seat people have invested in 32gb card back in the summer who like the all Europe download. Positive reports of the new files and Israel is blessed with speed digitised on its roads now... it wasn't before. Got told that yesterday.

Have my success picture of the all Europe map on a 32gb gold card... reverting back to the EU1 on the Seat card since we are not taking the Arona abroad. Seat Arona is far too uncomfortable for that 😂. Skoda it won't say 6P but pulls out the Skoda part number from the common release.

It worked for me when I had a MIB1 Amundsen and the later nav updates wouldn't fit, so I don't see why it's not worth trying in this case - especially as the cost is £0.00 to try it.

The cluster size one is a dead horse. German posters on the Skoda board found the language deletion trick worked on the June 2021 release. Namely the trick for UK users:

June 2021 the All European map out grew 16GB current short term solution if you require all of Europe on the card:

For GB language across Europe you just need GB and the meta_info.db in the folder:

maps\00\sds

That's a fix till it out grows the card again. Other languages pick your plate and delete the rest except meta_info.db

It does work for other countries. Had positive reports back. But this was the June 2021 release, whether the 0.2gb expansion has put that trick out of business, pass, needs testing. Couldn't be bothered, it's only for cheapskates.

The trick came from here click

On reformatting cards I was warned they have changed the design of the cards now, so just delete files, don't reformat them or change cluster size. There have been people with dud 32gb Skoda cards so if the guy is right, don't tinker with the cluster size else you might kill the card. That's what been posted on the subject of 32gb cards when Seat people were looking to buy them. I advice to buy a Skoda 32gb card although Seat came thru in the summer if they were not fake. Have to be careful with eBay sellers.

The MBR health warning on reformatting is here click

I've discharged my Seat moderation duties 🤣.

That's a shame it was a great way to avoid having to buy newer larger cards on earlier MIB1 & MIB2 updates and worked well on both 8GB and 16GB Skoda SD cards.

I've personally used it successfully on Skoda 8GB, Skoda 16GB and Audi 16GB SD cards.

So, the files posted at the top here "EU_AS_STD_1810" (ECE AS(A1) 2022/23) are newer than on Skoda's website "STD2_1720_EU_A1" (ECE A12022, valid since CW45/2021)?

If so, I'll download the file and give it a try on the 16GB Skoda card - I have an Amundsen unit.

It's to keep the differential between VW and Skoda to give the maps latter to Skoda 😂

I don't think they are on the VW site yet. There is one regional map for Hungary that is missing at the minute that I've been asked about (ECE3). Not sure whether that will turn up or whether it's been deleted from the release. Let MartiniB keep an eye open for that, I've not found it. For people who need that release with a 16gb card you can do the language deletion trick and use the all Europe map or just buy the 32gb Vag card and not use the regional release that's missing.

They are the latest and the language trick works still to get all Europe on a 16gb card for this release least for English. Other countries have dual language releases so may not, but been found to be fine for the UK in this release.

Language trick still good for the November 2021 release:

June 2021 the All European map out grew 16GB current short term solution if you require all of Europe on the card:

For GB language across Europe you just need GB and the meta_info.db in the folder:

maps\00\sds

i don't think this is VW's group hierarchy's case,
more likely, that is nowadays working style -
operation is done, but without going into details 😞

You mean it's a shambles 🤣. Seat do seem to have got their mib2 map side sorted out now except they never got the FeC into the June 2021 release. Probably one guy that is "good" at their job carefully maintaining the file database. We must commend them on it. Other VAG stuff on the 2020- MQB Evo platform is a shambles. Pity they can't write software.

Hi there ! I'm new here and totally surprised to see we can download Seat maps for our Skoda. So I assume they are identical !

I was looking to the Skoda update portal and I'm sure you already know we can download GPS updates. For example this one, provided you have a 32GB SD card :

https://infotainment-cdn.skoda-auto.com/base/maps/STD2_1720_EU_A1_202145.zip

image.thumb.png.230d261e84d0d06243d05f919524aa28.png

But when it comes to test the downloaded archive/zip file, it is failling. It's failling for this file, but for other ones I downloaded.

Are you experiencing the same ?

Regards

content of files is identical = cross compatible between VW, Škoda, Seat and MAN
check dates which i posted in previous 2022 tread
some extractors can't unpack this zips, try another

If Windows use the built in file manager one, right click on the zip file, open up, copy out. Mac, you need to read the special Mac instructions.

Oh okay, it did work 🙂 I tried with 7-Zip and WinRAR but it's now OK using the Windows file manager. Thanks !

What we like to hear, Microsoft doing something right 😂 . Suspect Skoda assumes that users use the built in unzipper. Their files least on the high unit were built with a varying level of compression that makes 7zip and WinRAR complain but the built in one is just happy about it.

That's odd, Windows wouldn't extract the EU AS 1810 file from SEAT for me, but 7-Zip worked fine.

Windows 11 File Manager I was using on the tricky one which was the Skoda site for the Mib2 High release. That worked whilst the Skoda site zipped file thru up errors on 7zip and WinRaR. Don't reckon the Seat zipped files are affected by the zipping process, just Skoda. You generally use 7zip first until one hit the Skoda zip file issue.

In the end, better to check files integrity using a MD5 hash compute capable program. I personally use a WSL environment where the md5sum command is ready to go.

I didn't have a look for Seat files, but Skoda provides all files MD5 signature.

Reality is the files won't unzip if the zip file is corrupted so the md5sum check is an overkill. Skoda is catching up with Seat. Originally only Seat had it. Has that changed one for MartiniB.
