  1. Please explain what you mean by 'scratchy'? When going between 1st and reverse you many need to allow a short time for the reverse layshaft in the gearbox to slow/stop.
  2. Also worth reading the label inside the fuel filler flap as that lists the OE tyre sizes.
  3. But which is the cause and which the effect? It has been reported, not widely, that some data hidden in the UN reports suggest that temperature started to increase before detectable changes in CO2 levels? Is this 'deniers' finding 'evidence' or just poor analysis by the UN or something else?
  4. Pre-industrial levels of CO2 were around 280ppm and current measurements put the CO2 level at around 420ppm, which is far below the peak during the Ordovician period 500 million years ago of 3000-9000ppm. Earth survived those amazingly high levels of CO2 without burning up, albeit with some well documented mass extinctions (cause still open to debate) so it is difficult to understand that levels around 10% or less will be so destructive to Earth - humanity maybe but not Earth. 5. Let's hope the increasing sales will lead to decreasing prices to make EVs more affordable (cash, credit or PCP etc.) for more buyers in the UK. It seems without an unlikely policy change we are going to be forced into buying EVs by 2035 (hybrids by 2030) so unless EV prices drop substantially we'll see increasing numbers of 'old smokers' on the roads as those who can't afford an EV but need personal mobility (due to lack of public transport, disability, etc.) have to keep their existing ICE vehicles running.
  6. Don't rely 100% on the accuracy of the fault code description - follow what isn't working. I would check the output test options on the HVAC module, these can 'exercise' all the flaps. SOmetimes the output test is sequential (i.e. one flap after the other) and sometimes you can choose which flap to operate. Run the test and listen - you can hear the motors move if they are OK.
  7. There are servo motors that control the positioning of the temperature flaps on each side, seems like the one on the passenger side is (like the fault code says) jammed.
  8. I've recently started getting nearly 100 spam emails every day to my hotmail account, they all go into the Junk folder. But this is the problem since the web version of hotmail only runs the Rules I have defined on Inbox! ... and I'm loathe to allow the spam into my Inbox. I can't just use the Mac Mail app as I also use 2 windows PCs during the day, so I need a solution that works on the web version of hotmail - any/all suggestions welcome.
  9. According to Quote Investigator the original source is
  10. I have the ACC set to the second distance setting, when on sections of the M4 with the chevron"keep your distance" markers it follows at that distance, and when a passenger times the gap its following the "2 second rule". I think we've all become so used to following too close that when we use ACC we think it's leaving too big a gap.
  11. Reboots don't cause any harm to the module - the only harm done is to the owners patience and Skoda's reputation.
  12. CP & AA have to be designed for the worst case user, so you needing less bandwidth isn't going to change how CP & AA work.
  13. The Octavia 3 does use a WiFi connection for CarPlay and Android Auto - in fact every vehicle that has CP & AA has WiFi, try looking for active WiFi with another phone when you have a wireless CP or AA connection. Maps, music, etc. all active at the same time would be stretching Bluetooth and cause unacceptable latency hence the use of WiFi. Sounds like a bug, several people on here have reported AA problems with some phones.
  14. Wireless CarPlay and Android Auto use Bluetooth to establish the connection and then switch to WiFi to carry the amount of data. So using a cable connection to a smartphone means that WiFi can be turned off.
  15. Simple answer, yes.
  16. Maybe only on vRS?
  17. No, needle sweep is not standard - neither of my Octavia 3s (a 1.4TSI Elegance and a 1.8TSI L&K) have had needle sweep enabled until I did the VCDS coding change I posted.
  18. 5G - what's that? Large areas of Wiltshire I drive in still only have 3G coverage on Vodafone (no 4G or 5G) - and they've started turning off 3G this month which will leave some areas with no usable mobile data at all (I'm not counting 2.5G GPRS or 2.75G EGPRS as usable mobile data). Vodafone is switching off 3G from June 2023
  19. But especially in inner cities there are large numbers of properties that only have on road parking, not necessarily outside their own property. So unless there is a significant increase in cheap charging away from homes that will cap the number of people able to charge an EV at an affordable price.
  20. That covers only whether the data is up-to-date or not, not data suddenly lost due to VAG not subscribing to a service. So if they try to use it as a get out then it's open to a challenge.
  21. But according to reports not as fast as the rate of increase of EV sales, which is why some EV owners are finding it so difficult to charge they are switching back to ICE or PHEV.
  22. Pierina from Ofcom is ill informed when they say: as the Octavia 4 has sat nav - oh and not everyone has a smartphone with Waze, Apple Maps, Google Maps etc. or a separate sat nav device.
  23. I agree the needle sweep sounds a good idea to try.
