Quiet tyre recommendations?
Our 2018 Superb 1.4 tsi came and still on original P7 tyres 235 45 18 with DCC Yes, they are a bit noisy and a bit harsh on the typical UK stone chip tarmaced roads. Occasionally very noisy. Yet on smooth tarmac roads they are very quiet, sadly not too many of those surfaces around the UK although lots of roads are smooth tarmac in harsh summer/winter climate European countries. BUT at over 48,000 miles and 5½ years and lots and mainly high speed motorway journeys, they are still in prime condition, no cracking visible, even wear both sides and ..... Front tyres tread depth 2.7mm in central groove 3.9mm in side grooves Back tyres tread depth 5.1mm all grooves They seemed to have become quieter over time and rolling resistance is very good, contributing to excellent mpg. Handling seems fine and very stable maxed out at 134mph on German Autobahns. Surprising durability for such a large car and given its useage.

E10 fuel wrecking spark plugs
I'm inclined to think you probably trust your trusted garage too much. Usually if you have a ignition misfire the engine check light will come on and possibly the emissions light too. Almost certain to happen if 3 out of 4 cylinders are misfiring. You would cetainly notice misfires when driving, and would noticeably jerking rather than just being "sluggish". The correct OE spark plugs for this engine are double platinum which are very robust and long lived. Platinum alloy tip and ground electrode insert. Platinum is an extremely hard metal only beaten by iridium in the spark plug world. VAG stipulate that fuel additives should not be used, octane boosters often contain metallic compounds such as MMT that reduce the life of spark plugs and poison/clog catalytic converters by coating everything in manganese oxide. High level brake light
That would only work if the bulb out warning on the dash didn't come on. I think the Scout has maxidot too which also shows a warning. Our FL Octavia Estate had similar issues and failed its MOT on this. We bought a cheap unit from ebay for around £35. The OE unit is sealed and not really possible to open up and repair although some have managed to fix theirs. You can check part nos here and here

Superb Scout edition harsh suspension
Check your tyre pressures are correctly set as per the table you can find inside the fuel filler flap. I believe that the tyres are set at the factory extremely high (I heard around 50 psi), to ensure no tyre distortions are developed if the car is stood for a long time. They should then be reduced to correct setting at PDI, sometimes overlooked.

Petrol leak from engine
- Mixing engine oils
Very few brands actually are involved in refining, many not even involved in final blending. Different brands can actually sell the same product but with their different packaging/labels. 2 cans of the supposedly same brand/product may come from completely different countries/suppliers using different base oils and additives needed to enhance them to the required spec. If you scrutinise labels/pour dates/codes you'll typically find a 1 litre can may be from a completely differen source to a 5 litre can of the same product. And it changes month to month. So the thing you should really concentrate on are the approvals. "Meets the requirements of" is not the same as "Approved to" The former being "trust me when I say" the latter is "I have a certificate to prove" Unknown/obscure brands or premium product purchased via dodgy channels may not even be what they claim. Buyer beware.- HVO100
Erm....You go first...😉- the truth about electric cars
Except lithium battery fires can be self sustaining IIRC. They don't require air as most conventional fires as the salts contained are self oxidising. So smother it with a blanket or foam and they continue to burn. Only option is to control/lower the temperature of the burn and try and confine ot to stop the fire spreading. Use of aluminium and magnesium commonly used to reduce weight only adds to the problem. https://thompson-safety.com/company/press/lithium-ion-battery-fire- Steering wheel covering view of the top of the tachometer & speedometer
Pull the steering wheel towards you/push away the steering wheel that is....(just clarifying)- What fuel consumption are you getting please.
Superb 1.4tsi ACT SEL exec Hatchback 6 speed manual To Heathrow and back. Done this a few times with similar figures always reported. Son recently drove it non stop from north of Manchester to Hamburg via Dunkirk snatching a couple of hours sleep waiting for and on ferry on one tank of supermarket 95 petrol. Never brimmed, always only filled to 1st click (to avoid ruining the EVAP system) Distance travelled 815 miles on the tripmeter he said. Travelling at legal limit plus perhaps a bit more. Also confirmed he cruised at 216 kph in Germany on several occasions, where ot was allowed. Something I don't approve of. Don't know if that was car speedo or google maps speed. Did however confirm it was in 6th gear I am inclined to think our car has a 72 or 75 litre tank rather than the 66 litre standard, something I discussed on another thread in the distant past.- Hello all, so the back box/silencer on my 2016 1.2 tsi skoda rapid needs replacing
The factory fit is double skinned and they all look like that after a few years. If its not blowing it will pass an MOT no problem. Aftermarket exhausts are only single skinned so are noisier and don't last anywhere near as long. Not sure what you mean by popping. You'll have to be very specific as to which engine code is fitted. 1.2tsi could be the EA111 camchain 1.2TSI 63kW/77kW (CBZA, CBZB) or the later EA211 cambelt engine 1.2TSI 66kW/81kW (CJZC, CJZD) If its any help I think the rear silencer part no is 6RA 253 609 but could have the suffix AB, AJ or AK depending on your engine. Not sure what the difference is Try your local Skoda dealer to get a price, some dealers and specialists are on the internet eg https://www.theskodashop.co.uk/- Diy DSG oil change
STEP 8 refers to an 8mm hex not 9mm hex 5/16" = 7.94 mm or as near as damn 8mm- Mixing engine oils
Both oils quoted above meet VW504.00 specifications which is the recommended spec for the OP's engine oil. You can mix brands even weights to your hearts content as all but exotic PAO oils are fully miscible. Stick to a vw 504.00 specification oil to maximize the possibilty of a long trouble free life for your engine. Look for the specification printed on the container. Might say approved to or meets the requirements of. But thats a debate for another day.- No bulb warning light - no brake lights
There is no bulb monitoring on a Fabia mk2. Afaik, all bulb circuits are conventional, controlled directly by the appropriate switches. This is a loom/earthing problem at a guess.- Steering wheel covering view of the top of the tachometer & speedometer
I don't like having the seat low. Pulling the steering wheel towards you has a similar effect to lowering the seat as the wheel rises as you pull it towards you. You may find its an acceptable compromise without having to take the seat right down. You should also experiment tilting the seat back a bit and move the seat rearwards (if your legs still reach the pedals comfortably) and your eye line to the dash would be better.- Skoda Scala Clutch
The clutch is hydraulically operated sharing fluid from the brake reservoir. So I don't think any adjustment is possible. Make sure there is at least 1 inch free play on the pedal before you feel the clutch pressure. Otherwise the clutch is probably worn. In that case, if you recently bought it from a dealer or trader, take it back and complain.- "Buzzing" sound from fuel tank ? after turning the car off... ?
An electric coolant run on pump runs for at least 1 minute after the engine is turned off. Open the bonnet and you should be able to see coolant being returned to the reservoir via the small pipe at the top. If the engine is cold and safe to do so, you could remove the reservoir filler cap and its easier to see the coolant returning.- What voltage should alternator deliver
With stop/start micro hybrid systems, it's a very good idea to fully charge your lead acid battery 2 or 3 times a year. My reasoning being, that at 75 - 80% charge (in practice it could be significantly lower and unlikely to be much higher) its useful to make sure the battery get fully charged to remove lead sulphate on the plates as much as possible, thus delaying the formation of permanent hard sulphation and tendrites which reduce capacity and life. And whenever the car is stood up for more than 2 weeks. Or had minimal use for any prolonged period. According to measurements on my Superb, standby current loses between 0.3 to 0.6Ah per day or in round numbers around 1% per day. This doesn't include self discharge which increases with age, depth of discharge and becomes irreversible with prolonged periods of discharge. So if your car is parked up with say 75% charge, after 14 days it'll be down to around 64%. Once you go much below 50% lead acid batteries can deteriorate quickly if not recharged promptly. At 30% you may not even be able to start the car because internal resistance has risen so much. IMO it also helps to reset / recalibrate the on board battery management and the continuing healthy functioning of the stop/start system.- Skoda all in and warranty (Uk owner)
You could delay servicing requirements by switching to variable service intervals (up to 2yr / 18600 miles). Ideally should have been reset at last service, but a chat with your Skoda dealer might help and possibly you need confirmation with Skoda UK. Interestingly, even though the all in package gives you 2 years warranty and breakdown cover the service part of the deal is 2 services and when I spoke to Skoda UK they informed me the end date of the agreement shows a 4 yr limit in place for this. ie 2 x variable interval services- Steering wheel covering view of the top of the tachometer & speedometer
The steering wheel can be adjusted fore/aft as well as up/down. Your seat can also be adjusted up/down as well as fore/aft, also the seat back can tilt back/upright. Should be able to find a combination that works and is comfortable. Although I must say it took a fair bit of moving stuff around to find an acceptable position in my Superb 3, same issue, steering wheel obscuring the dials.- Drone at speed .... suggestions needed
In this case it's road speed related and not engine speed related. Its also a 1.2 HTP engine so theres no timing belt. The same even if was a 1.2Tsi, both are camchain engines- Breather pipe connection to rocker cover broken
