  1. Bollocjs, it's public domain information which is why it's on a fluorescent plate at the front and back of the car which can be read from a considerable distance!
  2. Just swap the switched live and the permanent live round or you'll flatten the battery.
  3. To be fair it's a known issue with the Siemens injectors on the 1.6 TDI, once one goes the rest tend to follow because the MTBF is what's in play here.
  4. I'm guessing 1.6 TDI?
  5. A lot of wrongs to write...
  6. Here's my answer, I bought my 2.0 Fabia on 27th December 2016 for £450 on ebay, In January 2017 I replaced every single suspension component, every bush, every balljoint, all the shocks and springs and topmounts, the lot. It didn't need brakes, they'd just been done, since then all I've done is standard services and brake pads and tyres. In January 2020 it needed a new clutch, it cost me £350 but it was worth it. By your logic I should have scrapped the car because it was going to cost me nearly what I paid for it. As long as my Fabia continues to start on the button and pass the MOT then I'll continue driving it because a car is a machine for transporting you from one place to another, not a wallet with a measly few hundred quid stuffed into it!
  7. Any of those other brands you mentioned would need a new clutch by 147k as well, I'm amazed you're surprised to be honest.
  8. It's a nasty job, I would expect at least half a days labour, get the thermostat and ECT sensor changed while the cooling system is empty and you'll need fresh coolant as well as the new radiator. I reckon it'll cost you a monkey.
  9. I fancy it's the gearbox input shaft bearing, you should check the gearbox oil level because the chances are you're losing gearbox oil into the bellhousing if that's the case.
  10. Most of the VAG group stuff will fit but you'll probably need a complete pair of front struts, I believe 2WD Audi TT front struts would already have the 312's as standard and would probably be the simplest swap.
  11. I would report the accident to your insurance company if I were you, do it as "information only" at this stage, that way you're covered if the other guy fails to pay. Remember you're doing him a favour by not going through insurance so think of a cash sum that compensates you adequately for the damage and ask for that amount in full and final settlement of the matter.
  12. Except it's more like 1976 but with terrible music...
  13. Secondhand prices have gone crazy so you should be able to pocket a few bob.
  14. It's not childish to express frustration that you're ignoring GOOD advice given freely by someone extremely experienced but listening to BAD advice from someone trying to sell you stuff. Goodbye and good luck.
  15. This has been going on for TEN days, you assured us you'd checked the battery and alternator already. What does 365 out of 550 even mean, are you off your meds?
  16. Stop blathering on so, you obviously don't need the money, I too live in a probabilistic universe but probabilities approaching unity are close enough to certainty for us engineering types. Euromillions jackpot: 140,000,000 to 1. PAS Pump unit failure: 10 to 1 on. My advice? Don't play the lottery but do change the pump unit. Blather, blather, blather...
  17. The additional bore length required is double the stroke, my educated guess is that the pistons would stick out of the top of the block.
  18. Block deck height will almost certainly be different due to the longer stroke of the 1.6, so there's that...
  19. I've been round this particular loop with one of my Fabias, what makes pump unit failure a certainty is that it won't communicate with diagnostics.
  20. The fluid change cannot make any difference because it is the brushless electric motor and driver circuitry which has failed, NOT the simple mechanical hydraulic pump it powers. Just buy a secondhand pump unit and swap it out, do it this weekend.
  21. Yes, the pump unit has failed but you're not listening any more, just mucking about swapping pretty coloured oils to no purpose.
  22. It isn't critical.
