Creaking and groaning suspension : non active suspension
The creaking suspension is due to the top mounts. Replacing them with ones from the 8V TTRS seems to solve this. It's common issue across MQB platform

272. Remap or not?
I'm at Stage 3, so my advise is to stick to a stage 1 tune ideally ECU & TCU and go to a reputable tuner. There many so called tuners out there so best to do your legwork.

Buying a CTHE Fabia VRS
The most experienced tuner for this engine is RTMG if you really want to tune. Personally I wouldn't if I bought one. I'm trying to source a good one with a owner who's has owned it for more than 18 mths, seems like russian roulette. Most likely the owners who have good ones don't want to sell them. Ideally didnt want to spend more than £4.5k, have seen a couple of CAVE engine ones but owners havent had for long ( 1 is a Cat S repair with only 50k , the other has had 4 owners 88k - none of them with warranty work carried by the looks of it.) Have been offered a 2014 CTHE with 78k for £6.5k! Im thinking im better off buying a 2007 Leon FR even though it will cost more to run

Buying a CTHE Fabia VRS
The one I'm interested in, the owner has said that no remediation work has carried however he has only had it for 18 months. But will know more on Sunday

Buying a CTHE Fabia VRS
Great Thread. I'm in the same dilemma in looking for a VRS as well. I've seen quite a few now all of them with CAVE engine. What I noticed that all of them had dried wet patches like oil had been leaking under the gearbox, some of them had it on the sump aswell. I've walked away from all of them until I understand its a characteristic of the car or a issue! I've seen a good CAVE engine with 88k 2001 reg, has had a timing chain and waterpump done, no recalls actioned for £4.5k however Im in 2 minds going for a CAVE engine, I would love a CTHE engine but they go for £6k+ which way above the budget. So do i discount the CAVE engine completely or try to find one with low miles as possible? If i do buy a CAVE, what are the mandatory things that should be carried to give me a peace of mind? Thanks

Rhythmic Rumbling
I'm getting the same for the last few months, I've had the alignment done previously so not that. I was assuming it will either to tyre (it's had a MOT in December so i don't think its the saw tooth effect). most likely to do with the wheel hub.

Thinking of buying a Mk2 Fabia vRS?
It's a car for the wife, I've got a MK3 Superb at Stage 3! She would like a small four door car, automatic with parking sensors. I did look at the Suzuki Swift but that only has room 4, it needs to have room for 5 ideally. Yeah I was initially going to go for the Fiesta 1.0l Ecoboost engine but they seems to be failing everywhere. So hence why i said the ST which has the 1.6 engine and seems to be more reliable. At this rate I may end up buying a MK2 Octavia VRS TSI again as they have brought in ULEZ charges in Birmingham so cant buy a diesel.

Thinking of buying a Mk2 Fabia vRS?
I probably misread the post on this thread. The owner did have a clue. the car was stock and fairly clean. He said he did most of the services himself. When i got there he hadn't started/warmed the car but i never bothered after i had a look underneath.

Thinking of buying a Mk2 Fabia vRS?
So the one I saw was a 2011 with a CAVE engine. Seems like the engine was OK and had this dsg service campaign done. Im a bit gutted and 2nd guessing myself if I was too hasty to dismiss it. However all the thread on this forum of all the potential issue I think I made the most reasonable choice.

Thinking of buying a Mk2 Fabia vRS?
Yeah it was that code! What does that represent then? Finding at good one at a reasonable price is becoming a mission! I may have to give up and settle on getting a Fiesta St!

Thinking of buying a Mk2 Fabia vRS?
So went to view yesterday which had 102,000 miles on it, it has had a replacement engine (sticker in the boot floor), body work was good and was told the timing chain had been done but didn't have invoice as his mate had done it! I walked away from buying it as when i changed underneath the car the oil sump was covered thick oil residue along with the gearbox, which i found strange as the oil level was fine.

Thinking of buying a Mk2 Fabia vRS?
I'm in the same boat! However seems there are quite from 2011 which have successful done between 80k - 120k with minimal issues. However some of them I've seen have between 5 - 8 owners! So that could be an indication that owners have had issues and flogged them.

What have you done to your Superb III today?
Because he's old and bored! 😝

DCC worth searching for, or fit Koni Special Actives?
I've got a L&K Estate 280 and have upgraded to B16's with DCC. My ride height is lower than the Sportline version about 10mm. I keep them mostly in comfort its the best to soak up most of the imperfections in the road, Normal can be a bit firm/uncomfortable if the road is bad. The best shocks I would say are KW's as they their comfort and performance levels are amazing.

272 Superb OPF stageIII
Great to heard that. You've been running at stage 3 nearly 2 years now? Have you had many issues? Also what did you do with the Supersprint rear mufflers?

Skoda Superb Sportline with Chrome Grill?
Bridgestone Potenza are a noisy tyre and horrible grip levels in wet/cold weather. Great in the summer though. Yes Skoda did skimp on the sound insulation in the Superb however I've added some and it's a big improvement. I will be upgrading to 19s and planning to get some Goodyear Assymetric 6

Clunking and creaking from rear suspension
Yeah, that's not going help! A way to check is apply loads grease to the front and rear anti-roll bushes and see if that makes a difference
-
Clunking and creaking from rear suspension
The rear clunking could be the rear drop links or bushes needing replacing. The front creaking is very common and is caused by the top mount bushes, it's across the MQB range of cars. The potential solution is to use Audi TTRS 8V top mount bushes.
