That would be my thinking. The magnet might go past the sensor a bit quicker the further out from the axle, but the number of rotations remain the same. Gaz

I had a Badass dongle on mine to de-restrict it. These are little square boxes that cover the speed sensor and trick it, also fooling the speedo - mine would show 4 to 9mph when I might've been doing 28 to 30mph. Some people move the speed sensor and magnet onto the pedal arm. Google will be your friend on the most obvious ways to de-restrict that particular motor, so how to look for what's been done. I now prefer the 15.5mph cut-off as keeping it above that gives me much more exercise. Weather's gonna be nice tomorrow Gaz

Hello PMFW4 Slippery little suckers will try to wriggle out of anything! I'd suggest talking to Trading Standards/Consumer Direct before taking any further action, and follow their advice. A known issue, developing into a fault, which then isn't covered by a warranty? What did it log, if there wasn't an issue. Shabby indeed 🙄 Gaz

I'm of a height where I always need the driver's seat as far back at it will go. In my Octavia Estate this did compromise rear leg room, but in my Superb there was still plenty of room for two 6'+ offspring. Gaz

St Mary's Church, Fairford. Interesting because it's the only medieval Parish Church in the Country with a full set of 28 stained glass windows, one of which is the origin (allegedly) of the phrase 'Going to hell in a hand cart': Fairford's a smashing little village to visit and while away a day. Gaz

Just back from a few days away and on the 154 mile journey to the Cotswolds, the GTI got 48.5mpg. A fair chunk of it was M23, M25, M3 & M4 so I sat at 65mph on cruise, with the occasional blip to get past the people who overtook me, then slowed down. That's with two of us, luggage and a bike (folder in the boot). Not a bit like hypermiling, but I was quite pleased given I wasn't particularly trying. Gaz

All three DSG's I've got/had have been both superb and faultless. I've a mate with an A5 that's got the CVT box, and the DSG's are far better IMO. If it's a 2.0 Diesel from that era, it'll have the DQ250 six speed wet clutch DSG, that should have services at 40k intervals. This is the better DSG in my opinion, although the DQ200 in our Polo GTI has also been spot on (a 1.6 diesel will have this DQ200 seven speed dry clutch unit). The DQ200 doesn't have a service schedule - it's worth doing a bit of background reading on this box, although by 2017 most of the early wrinkles were ironed out. I think it's arguable as to whether manual is '..the safest way to go'. Gaz
