Octavia "throws" a brake disc shield.
The brake design on 2013-2016/7 non face lifted cars is not as good as the 2017-20 FL cars. What seems to be a killer for the guards is salt and dirt that is not washed off. I think the guards were designed to stop stones and detritus getting into the brakes. It didn't work that well. A lot of non-FL car owners will have experienced jamed stones either in the disc or in between the guard and the disc. Neither is ideal. Our 2016 4x4 SE Octavia had rotten protectors at 50k miles. The car got sold on before we had them replaced. Note to all pre-FL car owners....wash all the salt and dirt regularly from your wheels. It will slow the rot.

Navigation and reverse sensors intermittent failure
Sounds like an MIB potential issue. Had odderties on my MY16 Scout that similar to your reported problems. Assuming MIB2 system and probably an Amunsden, but if you can give us the device and firmware then we might be able to assist. Press and hold Menu and go to Versions for firmware info

Boot won't unlock after remote press
Wanted to clarify the problem. Do you want the boot to be just be unlocked (but not opened) or do you want it to be physically opened on unlocking?

Varta battery replacement
Re: battery encoding. A lot of modern car batteries do need to be encoded in due to the methodology of charging the battery. If you replace the battery without coding the new one in, the car will get confused and probably throw an erroneous error or two. It also means that whilst the battery will charge, it will do so at a lower amperage and will treat the replacement battery as an electrically dumb device. It means stuff like stop/start may not work and extra high loads on the battery such as electric seats may not work as intended.

Start stop error
We really need the CANBUS fault code to give further clues. When repair guy comes out ask him to show you the error codes from the car and post it up here.

You might to give @pab567 a quick nudge to ask him (resident MIB firmware expert)

Boot won't unlock after remote press
Well; if the car battery is completely dead and it isn't holding it charge - and the persistent memory for the ECU is also blanked because of no electrical charge, then the car will go back to factory settings - which is single door one press, all doors two presses. Boot lid would then need to be unlocked using the boot unlock button.

Skoda Octavia ESC + Gearbox fault error
You have to remember that when battery levels fall too low or the battery is just not capable of supplying the required voltage, all kind of supurious errors are going to crop up. The fact that a gearbox fault and an ESC fault crop up together are random. The two aren't really interlinked (unless you have a DSG). Replace the battery, get it coded in as appropriate and if the fault continues, then you probably have that fault. The cold kills batteries and the fact that folk aren't driving around is causing already low batteries to die completely.

Kessy Key Fob
The other thing - make sure your KESSY keyfobs are not kept together.....that will considerably shorten the battery life span.
-
Boot won't unlock after remote press
Boot lock functions are generally seperate Door Lock Functions. Changing a battery in your keyfob won't have effected this; the only option is whether you had personalisation on the car switched on - if you do, and either the car was factory reset or the keyfob was unassociated with a driver profile - would it go back to default settings of opening only the drivers door.

NEW MYSKODA APP - DEC 2020
Yup - that all makes sense. VW Group did a data-migration. Apps need to catch-up with the new data sets.

NEW MYSKODA APP - DEC 2020
I think that removal of so much vital data means one of two things: 1) VW Group don't want users to have access to their Service-record - which stops people from using third party garages. 2) most likely - VW Group have migrated all their servers onto new hardware and they need to migrate all the servicing data back into the app. Baring in mind the database holding information on the car - is different from the one holding information on servicing.

Satnav update - idiot guide!
Yup - you have 2020 maps. There are 2021 maps available. Please see the ICE and Car Entertainment system for your Columbus MIB system.

Satnav update - idiot guide!
Dear all Happy to assist if you have problems updating your maps. In Summary, most MK3's onwards who have a Columbus or Amunsden (with Navigation) system - will have free map updates available to them. 1) Go to https://updateportal.skoda-auto.com/ 2) Type in your VIN number - you can find that number either on a servicing invoice or more easily on the bottom left hand side of your windscreen. 3) Most folk (unless they have an early MIB1 - 2013->2015) - will have an 16G card - that currently should be enough to store the whole of Europe maps on them. 4) The maps you are looking for are the ECE A1 maps - for those with the smaller capacity SD Card [8GB], you may need the A5 or A7 maps (which is a smaller subset maps) - chose your map areas appropriately. 5) You will need 7z decoder. These are free to download. 6) Put your SD Card into your PC. If you have a Mac; there are cavaats on decompressing files. See the updateportal for details. 7) Delete the files on the SD. You don't need to format it. 8) Take the contents of the folder [if you click into the file, you will find a folder marked MAPS - it is this folder you need to copy to your SD Card]. 9) Wait until competely downloaded. Could take 30-40 mins to complete. 10) Unmount/Eject the SD Card and plug it back into SD Card Slot 1. 11) Boot up MIB system, go to Maps and make sure you can read the maps. Going into Settings [in Nav] and then Version Information - shows you have the latest map info

Police Octavia VRS
Now that looks like one mean machine!!! You are definately going to know that is coming down the road after you. I assume that there have been some performance tweaks on the TSI engine (and that it is probably a 250bhp variant). Didn't look it was a 4x4 variant though..... It will probably be a DSG....7 speed - DQ381 box (updated) and there would be some modifications to the MIB3 system too.

Jump start incorrect
New battery required? Try a decent battery charger and see whether it can be recovered. If Green Blob on battery is showing you have a dead battery.

REAR WIPER / WASHERS stopped working
Mine is Fuse27. Take out the glovebox. You will find it in there. Check your manual because the fuse number could be different.

Decoding Service History
One more thing. Put the car into off-road mode when you get a chance and make sure the hill-discend system is working correctly....no noises from gearbox.
-
Decoding Service History
Okay. Taking these one by one. 1) Manufacturers Variable Based Servicing - means the car is serviced based on condition based servicing instead of fixed mileage servicing. The car monitors the oil and tells the customer when it needs changing and when a service is due. 2) gearbox oil - somebody has had the gearbox oil changed. Pricing wise, as most manual cars have 'oil for life' there is no cost associated with changing the oil, hence it was put down as a auto box gearbox oil change. 3) The Dual Mass Flywheel might have started to make noises. It was investigated.... obviously no fault found. 4) HVAC system regassed. Needs to be done every 3 years. 5) Haldex oil change done - they might have taken out the pump too to inspect....by the book this is a 40k miles job, but recommend to get it done every 20k miles.

SE Technology standard equipment
Kind of funky - mag boot lights. Got one on my Scout. Generally installed after 2017/8. You might be able to retrofit, but honestly, probably not worth the hassle.

Upgrade Advice
It depends on what you want to do. Reversing Camera is always a nice one to start off with. You could go spend *hundreds* at Superskoda.com (although deliveries are somewhat delayed) for official and unofficial bolt-ons. If you have access to VCDS, you can enable features on your car....upgrade the wheels.... Name your budget....
