  1. Okay to clarify as @e-Roottootis confused: taken from the Skoda Servicing website https://www.skoda.co.uk/owners/servicing-maintenance-fixed-price: The above displayed prices are valid for ŠKODA cars 3 years (from first MOT) up to 10 years old and are available to customers at participating ŠKODA retailers only. They represent the maximum selling price but participating ŠKODA retailers are free to offer lower prices. All prices are (where applicable) inclusive of standard parts, labour, oil and VAT and come with a two-year parts and labour warranty. This offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer and may be varied or withdrawn at any time. Further terms and conditions apply, please ask your SKODA retailer for details. Therefore if your car is under 3 years old, you will be charged the unsubsidised rate (usually double the price) for work.
  2. Yes - that figure is for all cars over 3 years old (as Skoda subsidise that cost).
  3. So - to recap here: Yes - it does seem to be a design flaw on the MK3's - but hopefully this will assist: 1) You will need a open up the drivers door manually as you suggested. 2) You will need to plug in a 12V charger into the 12V socket. DO NOT START OR TRY TO START THE CAR AT THIS POINT!!!! 3) Give the car 5-10 mins - and then the battery should have enough juice to actuate the remaining part of the central locking. 4) Press Unlock either in the car (button with Lock symbol) or press the unlock key on your remote. You should now have access to the rest of the car. I suggest using a battery charger - such as a https://www.ringautomotive.com/en/product/RSC612 Ring Automotive battery charger - and get your battery back into shape. Take the car on a good 30-40 mile trip to charge it up and free off the rest of the car's functions (such as brakes) and clutch.
  4. Interesting enough; I had a LONG conversation with my dealer about my 2019 Scout. The firmware on the DSG gearbox needs updating. ODBEleven reports that the firmware on my MY19 car need updating - as well as the firmware of the Climatronic system. They are going to update the firmware on the car and I'm interested to see if that fixes some of the soft engagement of clutch. There is naturally a slipage when starting off slowly - most TDI's have enough torque to start off in second. If you floor it, then the car will engage 1st....but it is an odd sensation that an 'auto-box' slips the clutch deliberely. My earlier comment about the fluid in the DSG gearbox cannot be understated. It turns out that I was 'missing' 0.5 litres of DSG fluid in my car's gearbox. Replacing the DSG fluid - basically gave enough pressure on the clutch mechanism to make sure the car was engaging the clutch properly. If your DSG gearbox is slipping (and the biggest factor which highlights this issue - is that you need over 2000rpm to get the car to move when you first move), might I suggest you get your Skoda dealer to replace the fluid - on the basis that your gearbox is excessively slipping the clutch mechanism and will cause excessive wear of the clutch if it isn't fixed. I had to shell out, but Skoda UK refunded me the amount (£350 + VAT). I had to get their customer service team involved and nobody quibbled - which makes me think this is a 'known' issue with underfilling of the gearboxes. I'll report back when the gearbox is updated and let you know how I get on.
  5. The wear looks quite normal. However, my experience with Bridgestone tyres has been downright terrible. They wear and handle really badly. Went for a pair of Michelins in the end.....handling problems and tyre wear went away.
  6. Id check out fuse holder 15 in your fusebox.
  7. Also wanted to mention that fog lights are still both on when headlights are in Right Hand Drive mode as well. Works for left and right hand driving modes.
  8. The bulbs was in there and it looks like the wiring was also there too. You just had to tell BCM 09 module: If you have a hybrid lamp (part LED and part incandescent) you need to do: Leuchte26NSL LA72-Lasttyp 26" to "9 - allgemeine Glühlampe 27W: auch H15" If you have a full LED taillamp e.g. VRS, you need: Leuchte26NSL LA72-Lasttyp 26" to "40-Glühlampe-LED"
  9. Enclosed is my admap file for the 09 module. adpmap-09-5Q0-937-084-DD-20201108-1536.CSV
  10. Hello all, My experience with my VCDS is very hit and miss at the moment; latest thing I have tried to enable is both rear fog lights on my 2019 MY19 Octavia Scout. The Scout has a part LED rear tail lamps - and I've checked that both bulbs are installed on the left hand side (my car is a RHD model). I've been following the settings from: and I've also enabled up the brightness from 0 to 100 on the BCM / 09 module. Still nothing..... I have done the usual trick of recoding - and performing a soft-reset on the 09 module - as well as turning off/on the car....still nothing. I still only have the right hand side fog enable. Your help and advice would be appreciated. Thanks Max
  11. Firstly - never try doing something at 1630 on a dark Scottish autumn night - things break..... [opening salvo]. Hello Briskoda members, I think I've been an idiot.....but possibly not (explain in a moment). My Scout has now done 23k miles and the HVAC system was starting to smell really quite yuk. Too many hot/cold/days and driving insane miles around Scotland. Decided to fix the problem by getting a new genuine cabin air filter and a can of Autoglym Air-Con cleaner (its good stuff BTW). I have now replaced 3 cabin air filters in our various fleet (an SE and a VRS plus a previous VRS) - all MK3's. All without fault - up to today, so I do know how to replace the filter. Removed the glove-box - no hassles. I then tried to remove the cover to the cabin-air filter cover.....to see what state it was in. I tried....and tried....and gently tried to remove the cover to the cabin air filter - the three lugs at the top of the filter box as well as gently pushing down the lugs at the bottom. I ~COULD NOT~ make it budge. It was stuck on..... Eventually, it came away, but I've suffered some broken lugs both on the cover and on the air-filter box itself.....at least I think I did....I broke one lug (my fault), but I was missing another lug that I know I didn't break. I think that reading between the lines, one of the garages seem to have potentially broken off a lug. The tail/tail sign that something was not right - was that there is a v.thin line of sealant between the cover and the airbox.....I am therefore not totally to blame (although I still feel like a numpty). Has anybody replaced the whole cabin air filter box and cover unit - and if so what was the process? I will - of course - be asking my Skoda dealer for a quote to fix the damage, but I was wondering if it is something I can tackle. Anyhow....temporary repair has been performed (gluing remaining lugs back on....but it is only a temporary repair). HVAC cleaner applied and the car is smelling wonderful again.
  12. I suspect that Skoda will fix this when the downstream firmware version comes from VW. I've heard of some very poor software niggles with the MK4's (same as the MK8 Golf's). Suspect this is down to rushed firmware implimentations. Ask your local Skoda dealer to see if there are any firmware updates for your MIB system and for the dash-board too. They should do this as a matter of course when your car goes in for Service....most never do it, because it takes time/effort to impliment.
  13. Right - hopefully I can assist. Your car as standard gets: eCall Care Connect Remote Services (1 year) and 8 speakers Virtual Cockpit with 10.25" display DAB digital radio Bluetooth® Swing radio with 8.25" touchscreen 2x USB Type C ports (for charging and data transfer) Bluetooth® Wireless SmartLink for Apple Car Play only (wired for Android Auto and mirrorlink) This means that you will be able to make Emergency and Breakdown calls to Skoda Assistance. Skoda Connect should also allow you to integrate into this function to allow you to report breakdowns as necessary. However, you DO NOT have the Infotainment Online (as your car has the basic Swing radio) - which gives you connectivity to services and maps etc. However, your plan B is to go with Skoda Connect Lite. This is a dongle that plugs-into the ODBC2 port on your car and allows you to get telemetary about it that way. I would suggest (if budget is an issue) - that you go and get the VW ODBC dongle (for about £4 on ebay) as opposed to Connect Lite from Skoda which costs £45 !!!
  14. I think you will find that the front is part of the Front Bumper assembley and the rear is part of the rear bumper assembley. On the front, the front grill surround, the front bumper and the fog light surround (including the lower grill and the air defuser that you want to colour) - are all one unit. One removed, you have to remove individual parts from the back of the bumper itself (which will be air defuser). Its a jigsaw puzzle and requires two people to remove and then a lot of time/effort and fiddling around to get the front bumper back on correctly. On the rear, the bumper starts immediately below the taillights. This include the rear defuser you want to paint. Again; a two person job and fiddly to put back on and get it lined up properly.
  15. You can find people on this forum who have a VCDS system or a ODBEleven system - these pieces of kit can properly read the errors and reset logs as well as Service Resets as necessary
  16. My previous MY18 TDI VRS 184 was regularly getting 50+mpg; I have recently got a MY18 TSI VRS 230; this car which lived its previous life in London is now getting 38-40mpg when on longer runs.
  17. Yes agreed - sounds like a dry bearing. The other issue is that the compressor could be low on charge (which will also make the HVAC system give out that rattle/squeeky noise).
  18. Speak with @SashaGrace; I think there is a modified part need for the USB that allows USB3 connectivity to happen that she retrofitted to her Columbus unit. What head unit do you have (Amunsden??)
  19. Folks, I am having issues trying to enable corning fogs on my husband's SE. It has fog lamps installed, but refuses to play nicely with the Leuchte12NL LB45-Lichtfunktion B 12 and Leuchte13NL RB5-Lichtfunktion B 13 . Has anybody managed to get this working on their SE spec Octy FL? Thanks Max
  20. It comes down to the way the radios work. On the Amunsden system, the software works on the basis that it will support two phones (via a Bluetooth 4.1 connection or above), but it won't work with one phone and two sims. On that basis, one SIM will always have to be the master, and if your phone supports the second SIM, it will only allow incoming calls on that second SIM unless you manually switch from SIM1 to SIM2 on the phone (which defeats hands-free).
  21. Definately try take out the rear tyre and accessories under the mat in the boot, then go for a drive again. There is a hidden art of correct fixing in the spare tyre without it rattling.
  22. Okay - P0172 - comes up as "Fuel Trim, Bank 1 - System too rich" 00370 - comes up as "Right front Shock Absorber hard".... I suspect that something is up with the fuel/air mixture. Ross-Tech state the following possible causes: Fuel System Excessive fuel pressure Leaking or contaminated fuel injectors Leaking fuel pressure regulator Low fuel pressure or running out of fuel Vapour Recovery system Air-leaks after MAF Vacuum Leaks Improperly seated Dip-Stick Stuck EGR Valve Oil Overfill Cam Timing Cylinder Compression Exhaust leaks before or after HO2S Sensors White Smoke - you might want to take a look here for reference: https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/car-news/102502/car-exhaust-smoke-what-do-the-different-kinds-and-colours-of-smoke-mean
  23. Okay - this might help - http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Battery_Replacement It shows the processes that you need to do to change the battery out. If you go and visit the VCDS section of the forum, it will tell you how to enable Live Battery Voltage levels and how to show the State of Charge. I don't think there is a VCDS mod to show live charging current although @SashaGrace maybe able to assist with that.
  24. Yes - get the Haldex system changed every 20-30k. I recommend getting it done by a VW Specialist (because they generally know what they are doing). Skoda DO know about the filter; but you have to specifically ask them to change it at the same time as the Haldex fluid change.
