personally I have no real issues but then I have a manual gearbox. My thought is therefore that it's a DSG take up issue that people are complaining about - and that's an issue common to most automatics, regardless of type in my experience.

Re compounds on heavy ICE vehicles a lot will depend on things like brake size and type and the vehicles place in the market and model line up (prestige or not sporty or not, top of range or not etc). They could have larger brakes with the same compounds as ordinary ICE vehicles or not. EVs may have smaller brakes with higher friction compounds to help keep weight down. Either way a large reduction in dust due to regeneration is welcome but it needs to be balanced with compound toxicity and human exposure levels regarding risk to human health. For example a 39% reduction in exposure to a compound that is twice as toxic would still be worse than no reduction in a base compound.

That's why EV pads tend to be on galvanised backing plates with different glues and mechanical connection between the pad and backing.

Form what I understand EVs can create more dust than a non EV when brakes are used for the equivalent stopping due to thier increased weight etc. but use less overall due to regeneration. However they also generally have different pad compounds to increase friction values to compensate for the increased weight etc. and those compounds tend to be more toxic when released as brake dust.

All cars seem to be getting hellish expensive in my experience... There's no way I'd buy new these days and even second hand prices seem daft at times for the mileages quoted.

Now there's a blast from the past!! I was sponsored through Uni by Dowty... Working at the training centre and Fuel Systems in Cheltenham, Rotol at Staverton and Mining Equipment (next to Seals) at Tewkesbury over a period of 4 years... I still use my Dowty Seals mug coaster I 'found' to this day in my current job some 38 years later...

We gave up on the RAC earlier this year after a totally ridiculous renewal quote following year in year ratcheting of prices even though we'd never made use of their services. We're now with Green Flag who covered all three cars, including my 30 year old MX5 and both drivers in the UK and abroad to the same extent as the RAC for about a quarter of the price.

Nice choice... Hope you enjoy it. We've gone from Fabia Comfort estate to Octavia 4x4 and now Kodiaq 4x4 SE. All great cars in their own way.

They may be slow to market but if the products are right and priced right they'll sell. Personally I've not been a fan of Fords in the past, partly due to bad historic experiences with them as well as not liking the cheap interiors and designs. The new European Explorer does seem strangely quite appealing though...

Well it looks like we have the answer above the car doesn't recognise the handbrake being on so as soon as you lift your foot off the brake pedal it restarts. Strange and I think that is different to other auto cars I've driven!

Try pressing the foot brake a bit harder before releasing it and make sure you don't move the steering wheel as not doing the first or doing the second seems to restart the engine on our Kodiaq.

Yes it's meant to do that and that quickly as it's a safety feature to stop the car accidentally running you over when you get out with the engine running. It seems to work based on distance from the car which is affected by the key being in your pocket.

Pretty certain they don't need a code if they are in thier original vehicle as the car and radio recognise each other when both powered up

The kuhmo's seem to have a noise rating of 72dB which seems quite loud and a couple of dB louder compared to other similar rated tyres (bearing in mind 3dB is a doubling in noise level). I know that is external noise level but even so it will probably translate to some degree to internal noise levels.

Three options - lights on the boot, the rear screen seal and the rear wiper grommet (the latter was the issue on my Kodiaq.
