Wouldn't have thought they would make a super car too loud to use on track!!

Has the Yeti had an aftermarket exhaust or are you still running the standard one?

Custom one due to running almost triple stock 1.8 power.

It usually achieves a score of about 93-95db.

Limit at Bedford is 98db.

Other car is 99db in normal road mode and 106 in sport or track.

Don't think the optional Sports Exhaust helps...

I'm not going to suggest adding extractor vents, because you need to know where the pressure under the bonnet is higher than that over it to make them work properly.

Yes, people seem to always take longer than they thought.

Waiting on manifold etc... back from coatings place still.

Iroz Motorsport Audi 5cyl 850 kit from the USA.

We are hoping to make around 720bhp on UK 98 RON pump fuel.

Claimed output is 850 on E85.

 

Forged engine, head work and cams to allow 8000rpm rev limit instead of 7000.

 

 

 

 

Another month and this should be good to go.

 

If we make 720bhp we'll be looking at 550bhp per tonne, same as the old McLaren F1.

Almost 100bhp/tonne more than my McLaren 650s Spider.

But that has a far more trick gearbox.  I've stuck with the slower manual for the "fun factor".

Can't wait to see this up and running

Incredible power Richard, all of which will create that fun factor through a manual box but I really do think it is time you should be considering a track sequential box, you have already experienced failure with the power the Yeti was running last year, the power you have now is up there with the space shuttle so a decent delivery system has to be the way forward, at least you will know you can use all those horses without consequence.

Yes the Yeti will be there in November James.

 

The issue apparently with the gearbox was the shock loading from the ultra light single mass flywheel.

Another car suffered the same issues but cars with the Sachs DMF have been much better.  By cars I mean highly modified TT-RS.

 

So I am going to try the DMF for a bit and see how we go.

If it's not reliable then something a bit more race inspired might be on the cards, but I'd prefer to keep to manual if possible.

Apologies for the lack of progress.

 

Intake was a bit of a squeeze and needed work.

Head Yeti builder had to go into hospital for a bit so we got delayed.

 

Should get cracking next week hopefully.

I can't wait to see this at brands later this year :P ....passenger ride pretty please!? Lol.
