The stock size of 17x7 with ET 45.

Hmm strange. Was sure Type 2120 was available in a 7x17. Might require ET42, but 3mm is close enough I think :)

Yes, they did come back to me with the slightly different offset, but by then I'd been seduced by the fact the TSW were 1.5kg lighter per wheel... :D

(and only about £30 more)

Lenso Samurai  D1-RR, available in GB and said to be 6,7kg.

Maybe worth a look at (dont know if they have the right pcd, no time to check, 7x17 ET40)

I'm set on the TSW now, they are forged too which is good from a track use point of view IMO.

I may catch the odd curb.

Brilliant will be good to see them fitted :)

I'm looking forward to seeing them on the yeti!

Me too. :)

Have an oil cooler now.

No idea what the track temps were, but since I got the maxi-dot upgrade 70mph was around 102, which is too high.

Now seeing a significant improvement, it's about 10 lower.

More weight. :(

But more track reliability leading to more go!

Yes, seeing a temp of 105 on the M11 is a bit worrying when you've previously been thrashing it round Brands Hatch a bit with no oil temp readout.

Being an early Yeti it had a few maxi dot readings missing.

What's normal oil temp on the yeti then Richard?

BM class 70-120* as ok so just asking out of interest :)

My diesel normally sits at 95 on a Motorway, then 120ish on track after a few "enthusiastic" laps.

The petrol was showing 105 accelerating briskly from 60 to 70ish.

I don't like taking the oil over 125.

With the diesel Yeti it had an oil change after every track day on top of the scheduled ones, so about 8 oil changes in two years/30k miles...

I'm guessing the petrol was hitting 125-130 as it runs hotter and is more highly tuned than the diesel.

Do you have Polarfis on diesel too?

No, being a later one it had the oil temp display selectable.

I went for an early one for the VRS as it was cheaper and I was going to void any warranty immediately.

Not to mention destroy any residual value in the vehicle...

So you are going to part ex this then  :p   :)

Anyway, back to reality, the wheels look very OEM

Interesting re the temps. The highest I've ever seen was 125 - that was on some very decently long inclines for long periods of time through Eastern Europe - 300kg of camping gear on board and over 40 degrees ambient temp iirc. Mine tends to get up to 101 after six miles of doing 60-70mph and then doesn't move too much but I've always thought the engine bay of the Yeti is fairly 'compact' for the bigger lumps.

Likewise Ive always done lots of oil changes - between 4.5-6k miles every 6 months - for the amount of time it takes its a no brainer to me. :)

Very interested in the oil cooler setup (additional weight isn't a concern to me as you know) - was it a simple off the shelf jobbie or something more custom? :)

What engine oil are you running?

Black stuff. :)

For the purpose of clarity this is me avoiding the question because I'm using what the tuner reccommends and don't want to get into a debate about it. :D

Just curious, it's all.

Some good oils will give you higher temps, which is normal.

5W30 VAG recommends is only rated to 100C then it turns to water. In day to day normal driving one will never get above 100C, unless "accelerating briskly" of course ;).

I spent some time researching the whole oil issue, arrived at conclusions, implemented them and they work like a dream. I will not be however running any crusades on the back of it  .

Just curious what your tuner recommended, and I promise no debate coming from me

Yup, that should do it. Sadly the data sheet they link to is for a different grade.

I became a big fan of Esther Oils - see this one http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-68893-motul-sport-5w-50-engine-oil.aspx. It has one of the best viscosity index figure I came across.

Check out tech spec :)

Richard - what oil cooler setup did you go for? :)

I assume petrol and diesels oil runs at different temperatures then?

Regularly used to see over 100° in the (170CR) Superb and have just had 107° in the Yeti on a leisurely drive down the A2 / A260 (not helped by the fact it only has 500 miles on it and it is 26°outside).

What are you going to do with the Annapurna’s when the new wheels arrive? ...... I know of an L&K looking for a set for it’s winter tyres to go onto.

My experience is limited as I couldn't see the oil temps on the 1.8 petrol until after it was running double the power it should do.

But I have to push my mapped 170 diesel quite hard on the road to get it over +100c.

A single brisk acceleration and the petrol was noticably over the temps of the diesel, more like when the diesel is towing 1500kg.

On track though the diesel will hit +125-130c after three or four laps of abuse at Combe (10 miles or so), then it just refuses to climb any higher.  Followed by an oil change every time.

So while I have no idea what the petrol was reaching at Brands Hatch I expect it wasn't good.

Hence an oil change and cooler.

I've got a set of Annapurnas with some small marks at work if you want them for winter wheels.

Probably ideal.. and cheaper.
