The Twins. (And Yeti RS)

Featured Replies

And so it looks like Milltek have sold us a dummy.

The system that should fit and was aledgedly fitted to Yeti-Man's 1.8tsi by Shark is a completely different system that doesn't even clear the four wheel drive system.

Despite them claiming it's the correct one.

Not sure if it's tuner politics or a mistake, but I'm not impressed.

Only just saw this in a search, what did you try to fit? We only fitted the downpipe and it was a squeeze.

No tuner politics from us, Milltek have no allegiance to us whatsoever, so not sure how that would come in to question either.

We were trying to sort the rear section of the exhaust via Milltek and they claimed a Golf GTI one has previously been used on the same conversion.

Obviously it's wrong as it doesn't clear the four wheel drive system.

Miltek also delayed sending it out for several days so it arrived the day before the car needed to be finished, resulting in the vehicle being un available for the last Briskoda Castle Combe day.

Am currently running the stock rear section.

Oil cooler did well too, in an ambient temp of +22c I couldn't get the oil temp over +115c, no matter how hard I drove it.

Worth the extra 5kg(ish). :D

Love it...!!!!

Lost count of how many people came up and asked "what on earth have you got in it!?"

many were shocked! lol

or maybe the fact the exhaust is standard, all you hear is the Induction/Turbo noise, so its very similar to a low flying jet!

Just checked the time, based on the video etc...

Best laps were 58.8 seconds.  Top speed was 112mph.  All laps with a passenger of 70-80kg.

Not bad considering before it was 1.5 seconds slower and 5 mph slower.  With no passenger in the car...

The changes have definitely increased the cornering speeds.

By comparison when I did the shakedown run in the Skyline running 450bhp (over 100 more) it was only half a second quicker and 5 mph faster on the straight.

Your exhaust, would the system off a four motion Golf fit, it has a triangle squash on the pipe where it fits around the subframe, maybe just that bit would it?

Looks like Brands was a great day out.

Maybe, need to check.

I did consider the R32 Golf system but the rear pipes come out in the middle... :(

A flippin Rocket Yeti, looks like you have got it well balanced Richard, good turn of speed too.

Looks like lighter rims did their magic, she looked really solid through corners.

Did I hear DV's high'ish pitch squeal on lift offs there?

What pressure your turbo is running?

Great vid !

Enough :)

Certainly entertaining chasing race cars

S3 8P system instead, so the pipes come out in the right place?

It's running whatever APR set it it to, as it's got the standard APR 1.8tsi upgrade using the K04 turbo.

I don't run a boost gauge.

Doesnt your Polar FIS show the boost pressure? (I know it doesnt on all the engines, but thought it did on the 1.8tsi)

It might do, but it's not one of the things I've chosen to have on the display while driving.

Will have a look, probably worth adding if I can.

I tend to be quite busy though, rarely look at the dash at all.

When I drive I almost never look at the dash, perhaps quick peek at the oil temps in straights. I run logs so I can see later what engine was doing.

I'd be interested what boost APR decided to run.

Apologies for asking, but you have a different car, with a different engine and different turbo?

Yes, but I was looking at Superb with 1.8TFSI lump recently :)

I imagine that would go well with a K04 then. :)

Looks great on track - very very capable indeed and very surprisingly so!

Re the oil cooler setup - looks great and nice to hear it makes a real difference. If you didn't exceed 115c doing that then its working a treat! :)

Well I'd expect boost around 18-20psi... That's what my k04 hybrid runs on a 1.8t so should give a rough ball park.
