Update.. Been really busy with interviews and shouting at agencies for mugging me off with start dates etc the last couple of days, so i thought i would play with the car and de stress..

Pic of the arm rest i re trimmed. im going to do it again with some memory foam i think, theres nothing wrong with it, im just fussy. Does look OEM now tho so im happy with that.

IMAG0817.jpg

IMAG0816.jpg

then i kinda offered up the FMIC to the front of the car..

IMAG0820.jpg

Huuuuuuuuge but will be epic when fitted..

checked all the piping..

IMAG0822.jpg

Scuttle off, Was a pain in the arse getting one of the wipers off as it a small amount of rust around it

IMAG0825.jpg

then started to make a mess..

IMAG0824.jpg

Took the wiper motor out so i can get better access to this..

IMAG0823.jpg

A forest! removed the unwanted garden and made sure all the water run offs and drains were un blocked.

once all that was done i cracked on with removing the little black box thingy

IMAG0826.jpg

be carfull with the 10mm nuts they are like paper and you can mash them up easy. Been there, done that, was carefull with these ones.

once removed, it looks like this..

IMAG0827.jpg

Big hole!! once you get this off, it gives you access to the inside of the car just above the drivers feet.

IMAG0832.jpg

^^^view from under the drivers foot well^^^

These are known for leaking so just bare that in mind if you remove it. be sure to seal it up properly.

didnt get any pics of during, but you can go a couple weys when running boost pipe wire etc. Rubber gromit, ot make a hole and silicone it up. This is what i did.

IMAG0830.jpg

My pov spec hose and a wire for the oil pressure gauge.

IMAG0829.jpg

My pov spec hose prob does not have much tolerance to heat so i had a spare bit of silicone pipe kicking around the garage. Put the pov spec pipe inside it to protect it in the bay. Looks alot better too. just tee`d it off the FPR and zip tied the shart ot of the pipes so avoid any leakage.

IMAG0828.jpg

Works all fine. A nice 18 PSI up to the red in second. things are moving well. just need a splitter block for the oil senders so i can get the oil pressure gauge working now! LONG!

I have the plastic bit that sits under the drivers feet with me in the house so will fit some LEDage later just for Taxi G

That top FMIC pipe looks a better fit than mine was :)

  • Author

yeh it looks ok rob.. will see when i finally get round to fitting it all. mite sell that FMIC and get a smaller one tbh. Yes im lazy! lol

So all you do is plumb the boost guage into the fpr?

Does any vacuum connection work?

  • Author

yes mate, any vac will work. I believe its the most accurate from the FPR. I have in the past Tee`d it off the top of the DV and straight off the inlet manifold with no problems.

So all i need is a tee piece? Might look into it

  • Author

yup, i used a metal T as i have has a plastic 1 go brittle and parts of it vanished into the engine. Im just huntint for a oil pressure T / Y adaptor now.

What size id did you use? 8mm

  • Author

pass. i had 1 laying about mate. the oe pipe fitted perfectly tho, so dunno if you can find the size of that some where

Nice amount of leaves under the scuttle! I bet if you take the arch liners off you'll have a compost bin behind there too!

Green LEd footwell lights has begun.

under drivers side trim, foam removed.

IMAG0833.jpg

Not as simple as drilling holes and bunging them in. First i need to sand down the leds. Why??

this is why..

LEDs are directional when it comes to light.. you can see here, a standard LED..

IMAG0836.jpg

you can see the ring on the floor. This is no good for soft non chavy lighting! So i grabbed some of this..

IMAG0835.jpg

attacked the led and distorted the light. you end up with this..

IMAG0837.jpg

See there is no ring any more... Soft lighting! Now to sand down the others! Dimming unit is also being dressed up to look OEM as poss but you will see more of that later.

This is the Buisness...., you know your stuff!

haha cheers G, Just years of tinkering mate thats all.

So the drivers side drivers foot well is done. 4 heavy distorted Green LEDs and 2 lightly distorted white LEDs. White ones should (hopfully) give a little more definition to the green. I can now go 1 of 3 ways, Have the Whites come on when the doors open, have them all on 1 dimmer channel, or have green on 1 channel and white on another, (so they can be individually controlled) i have no clue what i will do till i play tomorrow.

heres what the under panel currently looks like. Will sort out a loom tomorrow.

a bit of this..

IMAG0841.jpg

a bit of that

Or while your doing your set, just make me a batch & hit me with an invoice

G

bet i wont.. see page 1 chicken!

Doh! This threads going so quickly I can't keep track of what you've done LOL

It looks really good so far, hopefully see it at the next Prept if you're going? I should be there in a silver felicia with group1rs and a yellow mk1 Octy.

Eh wot has someone painted my car yellow Jamie ? Better get home and check lol.

Cracking stuff Gee. Make sure you come to prept with it.

  • Author

Im not sure about prept boys, my cars still to tatty for my liking and to high in the air lol .. I should be getting a bit of cash in the next couple of weeks which is going to see my little dinks sorted and a set of coilovers on the car. That will also see my cream dished 18s on too! maybe the next prept ill come play :)

i can show this off then.... yes i am slightly loopy, but i blame, BMW for the up lighting, and maybach for the LED well lighing.

So heres my plan..

you saw up there the under panel for the driver foot well. from left to right, white green green green green white

the green leds will be wired to the ignition. these will obviously come on with the key turning and will all be on the same circuit.

the theme will continue on the passenger foot well. white green green green green white

Bare with me here.... lol

there will be 2x green LED under each front seat lighting up the rear foot wells.

2x green leds in the OEM interior light.

and 1x led on each b pillar facing up onto the roof lining. (there the bmw thing)

2x white (on the green circuit) in the arm rest.

Again, these will all be on the same dimmable circuit and will be the cars adjustable ambient lighting running off the ignition.

Now if all that make sense and you have not fallen asleep yet, im onto a winner!!

Next comes the Maybach lighting. following the white LEDS under the foot wells will be leds facing down the carpet from under the plastic trim that runs down the side of the car. these will not be distorted so there will be a nice clean "flair" giving practical light to the car. there will be 2 of these side lights per front foot well.

These will be wired to the OEM door circuit so they come on and off with the interior light. There will be 1x white led in the B pillar (as a up light) and 1 maybe 2 per rear foot well. Again flair`d to give a nice solid beam.

no now your heads mashed from all that text, heres a pic of what im starting to make now.

LEDs.jpg

So all those white LEDS come on when the doors are opened. The green ones on a dimmable switch thats always on with ignition. For the rear seats as you will know, there is feck all lighting. Even with all this LEDage, it aint going to help me and the wife strap the babies in. So i got some of these on order. .

http://www.ebay.co.u...#ht_3446wt_1265

i have 2 more channels left that i can dim on my controller. I have some Engine bay thingys on the way also thats going to make it a seriously lairy place to look at so i may intergrate some pretties in there too!! Who knows!

Looks mental at this stage but once its all in will look cool! please dont put me in the loony bin yet! lol
