DAB radio, will RCD310 from a vw fit?

Featured Replies

I think the first thing you need to do is work out where your stereo hum is coming from.

If you're using some kind of RCA adaptor anyway, have a look at a hum reducer (can't remember what they're called, I have one plugged into my home hifi to reduce the hum caused by ground loop with my home cinema sub).

It's the cheapest OEM DAB unit you will get. Anything else will either not look OEM or cost you £££

I just ebay'd and seems like there's millions of hum reducer gadgets to choose....lots more research at my end, so that'll keep me busy for a while. thanks for the tip

Possibly also known as a ground loop isolator. What I got was definitely for car audio but works equally as well with my home hifi

It sure will. You may lose some maxidot function depending on the age of your car. Likewise you may not have on/off with ignition functionality.

Edit: mine is the RCD310 DAB not the 510 ;)

dragging an old post up but ive just fitted the same and ive lost my ignition function for some reason , ive got a fabia mk2 2010 and ive swapped a dance cd player for a vw 510rcd

TBH I found the variations between rcd310/315 and 510 confusing is Skoda, Seat or VW does it have DAB or DAB+ or Bluetooth or GPS is it a Original or is it a Chinese or is an Andriod (updatable?) or obsolete Wince. It is a lottery if you get the options you want.

Why didn't they give them different numbers.

Majority only have DAB with DAB+ ones like rocking horse **** to find.

My decision was made for me when I found that my Fabia whip aerial was water logged and virtual no signal.

I replaced the aerial for a powered fin with DAB+ FM and for future upgrade GPS. as for the Radio went for a 8 month old Pioneer avh-z5100dab with no GPS but has DAB+ , Bluetooth and Carplay and Android Auto will accept rear camera.

The best decision I've made the DAB+ is excellent.

You can change the firmware on the 510 to be whatever colour scheme you want...

The RNS 510 / Columbus can be coded to have different colour lighting. I have never tested a RCD510 or RNS310. I did test it on my Columbus and the green is nicest. I did not take pictures at the time. Reboot the Columbus after coding.

The coding below and the pictures come from a german site - obviously. The german text says that it did not work for them...

RNS510 Skins
(hat bei mir nicht funktioniert, geht warscheinlich nur wenn es als RNS510
vom Golf kommt bzw. als RNS510 mit Golfdaten codiert wurde)
Standardmäßig sehen die meisten den sog.
Highline-Skin (heller Hintergrund; Codierung "00").
Skin "Sportlich" (kräftige Farben, u.a. auch blauer Hintergrund; Codierung "01")
Skin "Premium" (durchgängig dunkler Hintergrund, Standard beim Touareg; Codierung "02").
(Byte7, Bits 4+5). Nach erfolgter Umcodierung muß das Gerät neu gestartet werden.
