Hi @ all :

Here some more informations about the oncoming weekend:

I

No problem Mike' date='let me know what time you book for and your expected arrival time in France and we'll arrange to meet at the first service station in Belgium if you want.

You can follow me all the way,i'll probably be with 1 other car at least, maybe 2.[/quote']

will do!

The crossing time is that leaving at 10am or arriving in France?

I'll be getting a crossing that leaves the UK between 10-11am so be in France after midday.

will check time for my tunnel crossing tonight and post the most likely time i'll be booking.

am just waiting to here from the hotel to confirm my reservation and then i'll be booking the tunnel.

For anyone on this trip, I am staying at the Pension Zimmer. Are we meeting at one place on Saturday? If so, where please......cheers:thumbup:

Ok I take it your going via eurotunnel?

If you arrive in france by midday I'll try and meet you a the port

I'll probably get the 10:33 crossing so will get to Calais at just after Midday so that sounds like a good plan, otherwise the first services would be a good option, its a good 50 miles to the first services so make sure you've got enough petrol.

Question for you guys. What is the complete travel time from London to the ring? (about)

i live near Stansted airport,40 miles north of london.

traffic dependant it will take 1 hr 30 mins approx to get to the Eurotunnel,

crossing time from check-in to off-loading in Calais 1 hr 15 mins approx

the drive from Calais to the Ring, dependant on the traffic around Brussels and fuel stops 5-6 hrs approx.

approximately 8-9 hours i'd say.

Thank you, That's doable. I'm looking to hit London in the future. About how far is the Imperial War Museum from London, or is in London?

The main part of it is in Central London. Then there's the aircraft at Duxford near Cambridge and the Northern museum in Manchester.

Sorry to interupt, but are you thinking of Jabbeke? if so a new services has popped up just as you have left France on the "corridor".

Or on your way out of Calias, last jct before you exit for the main motorway, there is an Elf garage which is always cheaper than the services. You can see a Citroen dealer on your right as you approach the slip. I'll edit and put the name up shortly. edit....Junction 3. Exit and take third exit off roundabout.

Or you can exit the motorway when you see a big Pidou on your left and find a huge Elf garage there too, or you could.............

Dont be worried about the 50 mile thing, just look around you, they are everywhere :)

Monk, I have been keeping an eye on the weather. Looks changeable at the moment on the long range forcast for Samstag, Sontag and Montag.

There are quiet a few services on the E40, but please make sure you have enough fuel as you leave Calais. The next main service station on the E40 is just into Belgium, then there are quiet a few. There is the garage mentioned by Shifty to fill up if need be, or you could detour to the Cite Europe shopping centre.

I usually try to get as much driving done in one go, so dont usually stop from Calais untill the other side of Brussels on the run towards Liege (Luik) and usually at the same service station which is close to the Brussels - Liege railline. If you need to make a toilet stop make sure you have some spare Euros as most services charge for the privelige (around 20c) except the one I stop at thats free.

Thats quiet a run, in the octy I could usually make from Stevenage to the Ring on one tank full, and that was only just with the fuel light on.

If anyone coming along wants a point of contact in case they get lost trying to find the place, then send me a PM and I'll give you my mobile number for use in an emergency.

you won't be doing that sort of mileage to a tank in the Boxster Manny i assure you!!!!

when i was last there i used over a tank and a half on the Saturday around the circuit and a similar amount on the Sunday, was costing over 65 Euros to fill up with Super Plus,so will be even more now what with the rising fuel cost.

aswell as the over a tank to get there, the Boxster S is a bit more juicy than the Octy as you'd imagine!!!

I'm departing sunny Blackpool tomorrow am to get my 1815 crossing, picking my mate up in Belgium, then finding a cheap hotel. Where is everybody meeting on the Saturday? Please could you pm your phone number Mannyo and Carsten, then I can meet up with you.

Cheers

Dave.

Ps. My audi tt wheels are now wearing kumho k9's for the front and k6's for the back. Going to put them on later then they will be scrubbed in by the time i get there.

ATTN Mike,

My hotel is all booked for the 8th-9th October, staying at the Tiergarten,it seems they still have availability, give them a try.

will inform of my tunnel crossing later once i've booked.

Again out of interest ? Someone interested to threw some meat on the grill

on Saturday evening ? :D

Only a few hours to go :

Once you approached the Ring, watch out for a nature green

Octy Combi and a frog green VW T4 Van at the Ring.

As well as for the other fellow briskodians to be spotted.

If we decide to stay at the "Br

Got back at 5am this morning (long story) having had a fantastic weekend at the "ring".

I would like to thank Carsten for your hospitality  The hotel I stayed in was basic but comfortable, and suited my needs, ie a roof, a shower and a bed. Cheap too. WWW.pension-zimmer.de.

The ring itself..........WOW. A real challenge. The weather had turned slightly on arrival, it was raining, and at times quite foggy, but a semi dry line appeared on my 7th lap, and I got a lap time of 9mins 55secs. (proof is availiable by pm only). (:finger: J.C.)

I managed a 9min 40secs time in the dry last night, but have no proof, so you will have to take my word for it. Times aside, what an adrenaline rush!!! I did 29 laps in total, 7 last night between 17.45 and 19.30 in the dry. 7 laps in damp/very moist conditions, and the rest in pouring rain and fog.

I must just add that I wasn't timing my laps in order to beat them each time, just out of curiosity.

They say you need around 100 laps of the "ring" before you can begin to get it right......I fully agree with that. It is a truly amazing place.

The museum is worth a visit, as are the go karts, also, the viewing areas are a good place to be to watch the manufacturers test pilots show how it's really done. When the track is not open to tourists, it it quite often used by manufacturers and tyre makers for testing. A real eye opener....

I'm now an addict. I thought the slippery slope of modifying my Fabia was a long one, but..........

I can see an empty bank account and many trips to Nurburg in the coming years.

Thanks again Carsten, and of Course Manny, the official Briskoda Photographer.

P.s., The Pistenklaus restaraunt (i thought it was going to be a fetish club:rolleyes: )serves some very nice reasonably priced cuisine. It is primarily italian, but local dishes are served too, plus you may catch a glimpse of the fastest van driver in the world ;)

Hopefully, many pics to come.

Excellent, sorry to have not been able to make it, some niggling car trouble meant I could not really blow it up too far away from home.

Still a few weekends left if we can get her going again :(

Glad you had a nice time Shifty...:)

A fellow addict,it is the best place in the world!!!!

glad you had a great time,so does that mean your coming over again on the 8th-10th Oct with myself and Mike???

only a couple of days to go until i'm back there again!!!!
