Our 2010 2.0TSI vRS has a 60Ah battery. The other week after leaving it unused for about a week the interior lights never came on and it made a 'bong, bong' sound when we opened it - presumably some sort of safeguard when the charge gets low?

Here's something else.... SWMBO Seat Altea 1.9PD has an OE 72 ah battery. How can it be right the Octy has a small one in comparision- can't be for sound technical reasons, so must be on cost ......the gits

I said the car has an "Up to 61AH" battery because it did until it was about 2.5 years old. After leaving it for a fortnight it was a bit slow to start, but it then got a run of 140 miles, so I expected that to sort it out. In the following days I heard strange "boing" sounds from the car which I now believe was it warning me the battery was low. A few days later it was completely flat. Even charging it for several hours wasn't enough let the starter motor turn the engine over, so I replaced the battery with a 70AH one. It's been fine since.
