And will be the last one. The IRC has been replaced with the ERC and the man who won it, Andreas Mikkelsen is racing a Polo WRC car now.

if I remember correctly skoda are still leading the current ERC championship with the fabia are they not? :)

Who cares the only thing the rally car has in common with the road car is the badge.

My mum pootled up to Yorkshire in her VRS at the weekend, 4 and a half hours and got 40mpg on the mfd , it seems the later engine is much more frugal

They are with Jan Kopecky. Craig Breen is catching in 2nd and a pretty good peddler.

Bazinga indeed!

Nothing beats black paint for reflections and "mirrorness" !

well, did my first driving lesson in it today (with 620 miles on) and I'm even more convinced this version of the engine is way more efficient than the old one.... pupil lives 20 miles away , got 52 mpg on the way there, then an hour of 50/50 manouvers and driving then the drive home, it averaged 42mpg altogether! normally about 37 on driving lessons, cant wait until it loosens up!

oh, and the more I push it, the more I dislike the dunlops :( poor dry grip compaired to the maxxis Z1's....

On tha basis of your testimony I think my next set will Maxxis Z1's :)

You must push your car fairly hard as I have had no issues in dry or wet with dunlops and have been known to push it sometimes.

What are the conti's they can come with? Sport Contact what?

Mine came with Conti SC2's

Got to admit I do like the Maxxis, but preferred the quietness of the Dunlops in comparison

yeah, the maxxis are loud, but the grip is given by the massive shoulder blocks, and thats what makes the noise! lol...

as for the tyre reviews if you look at these Jab.....

http://www.tyrerevie...-Sport-Maxx.htm 80% dry 70% wet

http://www.tyrerevie...A-Z1-Victra.htm 89% dry 78% wet

the maxxis score massively better than the dunlops..... and as for the new tyre ratings on wet grip, they are bolderdash..... they give these yoko track days tyres (that are very poor in rain) http://www.tyrerevie...-Neova-AD08.htm an "A" for wet grip! PMSL.......

weather is crap today, but a bit of beading means paintwork is protected :)

and Dunlops = blaaarrgg..... I took the sweeping clear corner into our towns road today in the damp, at a MODERATE speed...... literally 70% less than I could have done with the maxxis Z1's on, and set the ESP off! :( I have the feeling these are getting ebayed when my winters go on in Nov! its odd, because they cut the water fine, and the "feel" good, good turn in, good feedback ect.. but the ultimate grip just isnt there! I'm going to punish them at how fast to see if they improve, if not, they've had their time!

I think with the mileage they are still curing... i had no understeer on mines at all so far - perhaps I just don't drive as fast as you do ...

700 miles, they are scrubbed in now. and beleive me, I wasnt pushing at all, that why I'm annoyed......

Sometimes after a dry period when it raid roads are really slippery for a while, more than usual. However, since this is your usual road you know the grip levels at all conditions... It sounds like I am defending Dunlops but I don't. I just never had any problems of this kind with it. My traction control kicks in earlier than my tyres loose grip I suppose. I don't drive with it off... If I did I'd by on my third set of rubber at 7k miles :(

Ever since I started driving Fabia vRS's almost 6 years ago I've never had a set of front tyres last more than 10000 miles. My record was with the Mk1. Front set of Bridgestone ER300's lasted me 5000 miles, were noisy and didn't grip that well. Current Bridgestone Potenza Adrenalines I quite like and I've done just over 8000 miles on including two sessions at Combe.

I've always found dunlops pony , wont touch them

lets light through really well....... Ive kept the details of MOT requirements and that the system is legal in the glovebox incase the police want to challenge it, but to be honest it looks more natural with the front tinted from the factory anyway!
