Why do we fall in love with our skoda VRS ?

Recommended Posts

Got mine 2 years ago now and its pretty standard but i just love the little beast. I don't like her looking dirty, infact that bugs me.I don't think i will change her until she starts costing ££££ . Cheap to run, power when you need it and most of all well built . Only on 78000 on an 04 plate so plenty of loving to come    .

What is the pull of these cars ?

my MK1 Fabia is the only car I have actually had an emotional feeling for...creepy as that may sound, I don't care!

I love it man, no really, I fookin love the little beast.

The way its so fuel economical, the way its so bloody fast, the way it simply eats up the motorways without missing a beat...but mostly, the way it pushes me back in my seat when the turbo kicks in and the torque tugs me from 'over here' to 'over there' very quickly

i cahnged from a Focus ST with more grunt... what i noticed immediately was:

Less sore on fuel 18mpg avg on the ST

No squeaks and rattles

Auto up/down windows

Fun to drive, not that boaty

Fun

Guilt free on WOT, i always felt guilty when i hoofed the ST on.

Cubby holes everywhere.

You can change the OEM radio and not loose the ******* clock.

4 doors is super handy.

Parts are cheap

There's lots of other stuff, i just miss the Xenons on the ST.

They're actually great though. First VAG ive owned and its the poor mans VAG really but its great. I bet audi's are lovely.

Because Golfs are too mainstream and this Forum is nicer than the Golf one haha

Really? Hahah yeah love my car because it always puts a massive smile on my face! People don't really rate it until they drive it or are a passenger in it then there just impressed by everything that it has to offer and the mpg it gives! It's a 24carrat motor!

I loved my little old Civic Vti.

I can't love a diesel skoda. It's just a tool that saves me a lot of money and serves a purpose at the moment.

I love the economy and how cheap it is to run as a car for getting to work.

Everything else I don’t like. I have driven a lot of cars and the more you drive the more you realise just how bad and old a lot of the car is.

Build quality, handling, brakes, drivetrain, reliability….. it’s all very poor.

But the job of being cheap with a hint of fun and a good turn of speed if needed it’s great at.

Can this be stretched down to other models of the Fab? My 1.9PD TDi has saved me more than half the money my previous A-Class guzzled, and offers a smoother and much more fun driving experience.

-Really well put together

-A good range of engines and optional extras

-Cheap parts and easy (fun too!) to mod

-Looks, IMO, absolutely great. Even non-vRS versions if taken good care of.

-Again, economical - 50+MPG whilst having a great deal of fun on the road. (Obviously more in favour of the diesel models).

-Has the potential to smash most similar cars in its class

Love my Fabio :D

Had lots of cars over the years but this one makes me smile everyday ! As others have said - economical, fast when needed, reasonable insurance, good to modify (hypothetically of course) - and getting rarer

Loved mine, was sad to sell it. I had a buyer for it before it was eventually sold

but I pulled out at the last minute as I couldn't quite bring myself to let it go then...

But I do prefer its replacement mostly because it

feels more special when sat inside. (and is faster, newer, better equipped and sounds nicer)

Not many of them about so kind of does also turn heads at times

Mainly heads of people who are into cars lol

I agree with that, it's rare for one to go by without me spotting it.

Me eye seems trained to spot and look at Fabias, whatever variant or mark

It's the headlight shape on the mark 1 that catches my eye.

A ltitle bit similar to the Mk1 Octavia too

always look out for them going in the opposite direction on the motorway, think i see one and it turns out to be a Octavia VRS

Addictive amount of torque,

cheap to insure for a 22year old

Fast and economical

No a common choice for petrol heads = gets attention

The under dog

And people dont expect to be beeten of the lights by a skoda especialy chaved up corsas and saxos
