Head is scrap, massive dip from cylinder two into coolant jacket, partially melted/dented,bent valve and all cylinders cracked from injector hole to valve seats :(

Wow proper good job then, must have been some mega heat or injector leak to cause such failure, I suppose you can just always 2nd guess what caused but never actually know why it's failed like it has

You sent your injectors away yet to get checked?

United Diesels is only 15 miles from me, so called in there to ask about testing and refurbing my injectors but they want £140 per injector, not much more to go to larger nozzles.

Well she's back on the road :)

Spent majority of my three weeks summer leave from work messing about with the bloody thing though :(

A big delay was the engine taking a week longer than it should to be delivered, ended up in Llandrindod Wells at a depot with only one lorry fitted with a tail lift that never gets sent on the Oswestry deliveries.

But while I waited for the engine I took the grinder to the front bumper and crash bar,a job I had planned to do this summer.Cut the ends off the crash bar and welded in some 40mm box section instead of the deep standard crash bar,to allow more air to get to the cooler and to make somewhere to mount my number plate to while retaining the strength of a crash bar.

Didn't want to go to a number plate mounted on the side but wanted to able to get max air to cooler on track/pod/RR days etc.

So now I've just got to undo the two bolts holding front plate on and I've got the full widemouth available,on road even with plate fitted I've still gained a lot of air flow to cooler.

Pleased with the finished job :)

I like that, a great compromise as I don't like the widemouth but obviously know the benefits of having one. Great work.

Been also terracing you thread to get an idea on parts for an oil temperature & EGT gauges. Cheers for posting the links. B)

Wow Fairplay Kev. This is going to be an animal!

Glad to hear this beast is back on the road, how are you finding the 2260 compared to the 1756?

Any close up pics of the work carried out to the crash bar?

Also what was the proce of the nozzles?

Base map yeah, standard boost atm due to clutch needing bedding in.

Cheers Adam :)

As above clutch needs running in,so can't really compare 1756 to 2260 yet as I'm running low boost!

Need to adjust actuator too, only 60% at 4000rpm currently.Although its spooling up lovely atm, have asked John if I can leave it at 60% with no ill effects. ;)

I had a extra set of injectors to part ex in against DSSR's,so they cost me just over £500 collected from United Diesels.

Where did you see me? :)

Was a car behind you from where you pulled out at Pentons onto the A483 upto the Whittington roundabout. Tried to get past the Polo but couldn't.
