Felicia 1.6 Over Revving / Misfiring

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I've been having a problem with my felicia lately (well, always, but this is a new problem).

I started it up on a cold day and instead of ticking over at 900rpm as usual it was closer to 1,200. The whole feel was a bit off, lumpy gear changes and misfiring at about 3,000 rpm in third gear.

Anyway, after stopping and starting again everything ran as normal, presumably because the engine was warm at this point.

I suspect that the problem is a duff sensor, I've already changed the yellow sensor, along with the thermostat when that failed, but I assume that there's another (probably blue) sensor somewhere. Does anybody know whereabouts in the engine bay this other sensor is hiding?

Cheers!

If you suspect a faulty sensor, the most effective solution is to scan for any error codes stored into ECU. If you're lucky something might show up. But right now my guess would be as good as yours. There could be a fault as simple as a vacuum leak or as complex as an intermittent in ECU ranging through a whole lot of other possible defects. Too few information and from your description too short time since the issue has occured. So my advice is to first look for obvious signs in the engine bay, then do a scan and gather more data then come back to us.

My gut reaction said vacuum leak too, but I changed my mind when you said it clears after cycling the ignition.
