No more hassle than my old Fabia vRS MK1's. Few extras minutes cleaning, that's all, too many other benefits to overcome little niggles .

I can live with it and I don't have a problem with the look.

They Probably get up peoples noses, because it's the on view they will experience.

The only benefit that quad tailpipes and a single midpipe give is that it lets anyone with a taste gene laugh at the chavvy motor.

mirror link etc for infotainment....looks like they will be updating to give what the Fabia/Polo now have.

Hmmmm nice response. I do wonder

£10k plus, is a lot to pay, for 2 exhaust pipes not 4 ,plus 70 bhp and a few bells and whistles -RS3. You are getting sucked - in Kenny.

If it helps any, I have the same reaction to one tailpipe each side and a single midpipe (but not to full-split systems usually found on in-line Vs).

I'm just waiting with great interest, to see how the 2nd hand R market looks in another 12-18 months! :o

Similar to Audi S3 Sept 2013 model - SELLING OR ACTUAL BUYING!?

TBO VW marketing got stuck in a rut re the tailpipes because the original MK4 R32 was a V6 engine, so the exhaust each side was justified. Then they went to central exhausts which IMO can look weird, but are a packaging nightmare as the back box now sits central across the back, eating into the spare wheel well space. Now the marketing lot went back to one exhaust each side & demanded MORE!

All MQB Golf hatch & estate have the cavities built into the bodywork for the dual exit exhaust, on my estate there is a big aerodynamic plastic covering this over.

What VW should have done is a single side twin (as per GTI), but bigger diameter if needed. Then they should have moved the big battery (17kg to 20kg) from the engine bay into a new battery compartment in the cavity for the drivers side exhaust box! Better weight distribution & more "race" spec! Personally if I had an R I'd look at doing this mod, but you might need coil overs to adjust the suspension due to the weigh difference when unladen!

VW marketing missed a trick with that! Like the idiots only give you reflectors on the doors instead of the red market lights/puddles like the earlier golfs! DOH!

Saw a Audi 3S and thought it looked very classy. If it had to be VAG I would go for this rather than the Golf as it looks seperate from the bunch. You could not get a tumble drier in there as it is a saloon rather than a hatch but hey. Interesting so many mags still put the hot Megane as their hot hatch choice (dry time of course), particluarly for track day performance, or close to the Golf R. Be interesting to see the new Megane in a few months time and of course Renault are the only F1 engine provide who make cars that ordinary people can buy (Merc at a stretch I suppose)! Had a Leon Cupra, a couple fo Octy VRS (proper petrol ones), fancy a Clio RS or Megane RS next, could not talk myself in to a Golf R as the shape is just too common, not indivual enough.

Now down to 64 today nationally.

Still very rare on the open road around here,I know of only one other within 25 mile radius - Met black 5 dr.

Think the dealerships hold on to them for the fun and rarity/availability. Not sure what the lead time for brand new, from the factory is now.

Think the £40K ONE WILL REMAIN IN THE DEALERSHIP IN Maidenhead for a while yet.Must be some spec.

After 3 months on the books of dealer(VW ground rules) accruing demo mileage, this price is unreal. Surely not a projected selling price.

I'm loving the PCP finance example at the bottom of that page. Absolute bargain at £847/month lol!

Total payable 53k haha
