That's a win! Mine is awful on speed bumps, literally 2mph over them. People get annoyed behind me when I'm crawling over. Car looks ace mate

Car is running lovely now, nice mpg, brakes are bed in,  Vibratecnic engine mount seems quieter, no more stinky oil smells from exhaust and new APs.  Car feels new ;)

Happy Gee!

Are you going to be removing the plastic strips from the doors as well? I've thought about doing mine but I'm too scared to damage the paint hahaha

  • Author

na i want to keep them as in the long run, they save your paint from ****s in car parks ect.

does look better without them but id rather keep them and have less damage.

finally got a little bit of car time today.   Really needs a bath but to much of a mission washing my car at home (normally do it at work)

So i got on the mirror mod i wanted to do for ages!

Project remote Puddle lights.

Following my Auto light module and coming home lights mod,  and stepping in a fk off puddle one night leaving work, i decided to fit some LEDs to my mirrors.

didnt start off to well as no matter where i looked i could not find a Phillips screw driver in my car/ house/ or garage so had to remove mirrors with door cars still on.

once the mirrors were off i pulled the glass out of 1 and smashed it!!! bang goes the next 7 years!! haha

Was not really bothered as i had some Blue tinted glass from the auto dimming bora to replace..

20141228_163855.jpg

working out where to drill the hole was easier said than done as the LED casing is quite long.

10mm hole next to the drain hole seemed about right..

20141228_145506.jpg

20141228_151547.jpg

then i had to get the wiring down the worlds smallest hole following the OE wiring.. again, easier said than done...

20141228_151556.jpg

20141228_151742.jpg

all nice and neat inside.

now..  the finished result was ok..  but i knew i could do it better...   so **** got serious!

went to the garage for some "spares"

20141228_153710.jpg

removed the plastics totally from the SE`s mirror and drilled a 20mm hole.

20141228_154718.jpg

as you can see, the LEDs have a recess in them..

20141228_160003.jpg

so how do i get the 21mm LED in a 20mm hole?

FIRE!!

heated the plastic to nearly the point of meltage, and pushed the LED in hard!

wiring ready to connect to the car..

20141228_162909.jpg

this is how the first version looked like,...   poked out to much for my liking..   used red mirror as i didnt take pic of it on the blue se mirror..

20141228_163525.jpg

how it looked from the front of the car...

20141228_163532.jpg

how it now looks from the from of the car

20141228_163546.jpg

unfortunatly i can only do 1 mirror today because fitting the LED into the mirror the first time round, doing the nut up to tighten it, the Wire came out and deemed it a write off..

20141228_160206.jpg

quite happy with the result..  cant wit to wire them in. :)

Very nicely done Gee!

  • Author
