Insurance have approved the repairs so it's booked in the week after Shark have finished turning into a super sleeper :)

Sounds good.

Have you fitted that brake upgrade yet, or is that on the list for Shark? Just wondering as they've come from an MQB platform Leon, whether you've checked everything will definitely be compatible? Will be interesting to see, either way!

Yep, Shark are doing them while it's there, one of the interesting things we discovered while researching all these mods is that it actually has a Mk7 Golf front end!! So everything points to them fitting fine :)

Well there you go, I didn't know that. But then I haven't taken the FL apart.... yet :)

It's only a matter of time ;)

that's interesting as the non FL is made up of pretty much all of mk5 and mk6 bits... Non MQB so really surprised they changed over for just a FL. Great thing about the Yeti - massive parts bin of enhancements to choose from :)

It was at Awesome GTI when we tried to fit an anti lift kit to discover we couldn't due to the Mk7 front end!!

Dropped the car of at Shark Performance this morning, big list of jobs:

- Turbo install

- Darkside Developments Hard Pipework Kit fitted

- Stage 2 Custom Map

- Brake upgrade, hubs, callipers etc

- Bilstein Shocks, changing from 50 to 55mm to accomadate the new hubs

When I pick it up next week I should be the proud owner of the (as far as I know) most powerful 1.6tdi in the UK :)

Should be great when its done, good luck. Out of interest, which dampers did you go for; the standard length B6's or 20mm shortened B8's?

After a lot of head scratching I went standard length, didn't want the nose end dipping any more! :)

Sharky is all booked and paid for Castle Comb in April, great chance to really see what it can do.

Does anyone have a particular Dot5.1.brake fluid used and been happy with?

Really Looking forward to seeing this in flesh and on Track.

I'm also booked for Castle Combe...:)

I have bigger brakes in mine and replaced my standard brake fluid with ATE Super Blue one which isn't expensive. Had no problems with my car at all.

Great Work and Keep it up..!

Motul RBF600 or Tarox RoadRace fluid. Both DOT4. Have never seen any point in running 5.1 personally. http://en.tarox.com/products/road-race-brake-fluid.html

I was looking at the Tarox one, it's on sale at Demon Tweeks £12 for 500ml, the ATE Superblue is £10 for 1L so basicaly half the price. Is Tarox twice as efficient as the ATE? I've always said you get what you pay for but this one looks as though there's not much, if anything, between them?

ATE Super Blue is what I use in my cars and its never let me down.

People will no doubt comment, but have you looked at Halfords 5.1, and the positive reviews from buyers?

I hadn't no, from what I can gather it's all basicaly the same ingredients but the boiling points vary massively, I've seen DOT4 with a higher boiling point than 5.1?

I'll check out the Halfords stuff though, if it's as good then I've not a problem using, if labels bothered me I wouldn't drive a Skoda ;)

Thanks Lee, it's a great price too, we're going on holiday to the Alps again this year and looking forward to no brake fade on the downhill roads!!!
