not true.....  I have found the only place I can get armour for the ship is in a rival system, where I am "HOstile"

 

BUT this is the key thing.... you can be scanned by system security ect and dock ect and be fine.... its only REAL players that attack you on sight, and then only if they are pledged to the relevant system!

I was less successful, after shooting a ship before it had finished the initial scan = instantly targetted by half a dozen ships.

promoted to "Dangerous" bring it on!!

Kind of rediscovered this and popped out in the cobra, forgot how sleepy trading was. Came back in, sold all, went out in viper, sorry what ever it's called...

 

Saw some new ships in the res areas, which were really slow going. Did some reading, left came back... grabbed a dbs scout, great, fun, sold it, imp courier as I had the rank too. Hit a low conflict zone, easy, too easy. So tore through a load of ships in a evening or so of mucking about finding my feet again.

 

Did a quick check and I had enough for an in system, low range, slightly gimped(power & shield) vulture... sold up and went out in it anyway, because why not... superb. Came back in, sold up, brought a hauler, jumped to Chona Smoot stn brought a vulture with a jump drive and shields, still only class D, got to keep some spice  

 

I'm actually a little bored of the conflict zones in it though. I feared I might be, I like getting in an knife fighting, the courier was more enjoyable. The vulture is a credit making machine till I ding of an anaconda hull. Put fixed weaps on it, that slowed me down a lot

 

So I'm now a little cash in the bank, not enough for another toy ship though. More than enough insurance for a few mistakes. So i'm looking at powerplay and or assassination missions, which if conflict zones are anything to go buy will be short.

 

Basically just need to drive the game to a story or point. Helping the lowest rank faction in a conflict is great till you eliminate all the local mob ships and all your faction side fleet now look at you for 'right what do we do now, paint?' while the zone re-populates.

 

I'm online as cmdr saoi, add me, maybe we can wave I'm not powerplayed pledged to anyone yet. Prob empire though when all said and done, could of been independent, feels more robust as a character to be independent as a bounty hunter/paid killer/wanderer. Think I'll get my clipper rank then reassess my cmdrs life goals.

 

I hear the outer rim looks lovely from a diamondback explorer. I have enough for a explorer if I have the inclination for the peace and organisation of exploring.

Approximately one month ago, I 'lost' my Python.

 

I got killed at a high conflict RES and didn't have enough money to cover the insurance cost as I had just upgraded my armour.

 

As a result, I went from assets of 150 million to 1 million, but still with a Cobra safely secured at my home base.

 

I have spent the last month grinding local trading routes, an absolute pain in the butt, but I like the game too much to simply give up.

 

I am now back in a Python and have exceeded the amount I lost. A very expensive but important lesson has been learned.

So the vulture and combat zones.... fun fun fun zzzzzzzzzzz.

 

Was fun the first time, 500k cr way to go. 2nd sitting 1million before bailing, and so on  for a few bites of the easy money streak. This was without A rated shields to, even the kill squads that seem to spawn just for you were little more than 'be patient' notes on my scanner.

 

Last sitting was 3million after a particularly good run of python and anaconda's. Thankfully I uprated the trusters from D to A, so I hardly had to 'fly' it either. So after all this I suddenly realised I had enough to equip a second ship, never had that before. So I now have a Red hangar blip on the map to guide me home, as I fly off to the edge of the bubble, then assess if I want to go out or come back and mix it up in powerplay smuggling/mission running. 

I doubt I'll fly the vulture again, not for fun in PVE anyway. maybe the grind to get me enough credits for some clipper bolt ons if I can figure out how to rank... I'm hoping a wedge of cartographical data will help a little.

Keep forgetting about this - was in the middle of doing a cartography trip which I was hoping would earn me a decent wedge of credits and a few steps up the ladder

I didn't get very far exploring before I fell asleep. derp derp derp smoky...

 

Got away with it, only a bit of melted canopy on my lap.

 

Headed to a base to recoup. While grabbing some R&R in the solar winds I wondered what power I should support and what one can do. Decided to have a bit of a dig, I've been trying to get my rank up for a clipper, so one of the empire leaders seemed logical. I was on the edge of Felicity Winters control area, so I pledged to Duval and went hunting for Winters workers. I should of probably picked a non fed power to antagonise.

 

So for each fo these fedral couriers that you interdict from cruise, shoot up and then get back to cruise... you earn 30 tokens from your power. So tokens make rank, spent a bit more time, got 780tokens flew to hq and handed them in. Nothing, of course have to wait for the bean counters to process them... as it happens it was that night.

 

So now I'm rank3 in the duval ranks and this means.... 50% bonus on bounting hunting chitys. 

 

Off to a high res extraction site and now the bit I'm not a fan of. Jumping in and out till the instance gives you pythons Got bored so reverted to the log in and out method. Make sure you're a good few km away from rocks, I kept coming back in a various points. I'm sure appearing in a rock won't be good.

 

Eventually got the python spawn cycle, or large ships, so python, vulture, dropships, clippers, almost non stop.  Couple of hours, maybe less went to cash in. 10mil paid out... those big pythons can be 80 to 256 then you get your bonus on top Other than the clippers you really don't have to think, even wings are easy... even with dangerous, deadly. I'm using an A5 shield vul with a0 c0 booster, c thrusters, no scb.

 

All in all, I like the bonus. Definitely plays to my bounty hunter role, if it pays I'm hunting it.

 

I've got no idea what to do when I get bored of this, needs content & depth soon! Most every game in the last 20years has had more content/story. Why am I supporting duval, she pays well, no idea what she's about or trying to do.

 

Going to jump back into my courier and do missions when I run out of rank (7days) and then head out and undermine again, I forgot to say I get paid some credits for rank3 too, happy days... of course it won't last, so not suited to a binge approach play style ( mine currently once a month ).

Went mad and spent my next 3 year's game budget and bought the lifetime expansion. Ever hopeful  All I need is time to play.

Alas ive aligned to mahon and not having a massive amount of time to play means i never get very far into rank 2 with a couple hundred merits

Exploring starts to get a bit 'weird' after a while. You do get a huge sense of scale, loneliness and paranoia when you accidentally press J instead of T next to a star!

 

As you approach the core, route plotting becomes tedious, the reason why is explained here.

 

If I go exploring again, I will definitely take heatsinks.

Well  done! I got bored at 18k out and returned home.  I had no heat damage until 2k away from home and had a string of bad luck -close binaries a distraction  and ended up with quite a bit.  Just be careful on the way back.

Just returned after a short exploration trip (only just under 1000ly) - managed to level up once but a long long way to go for Elite. Still flying the Cobra which isn't too bad tbh.

 

Might head out in to the wild blue yonder again though for a longer run (needing to get a few thousand systems scanned).
