Guys, while hunting I came across Combi

http://www.combi.org.uk/products/89/NEW-Mini-0806-Ambarella-A7-1296P-Car-Dash-Camera-DVR-With-GPS

I gave them a call and had a good chat with the chap there. They default their own software and settings to their units and have not had a single return. I gave them a try and have had not a single issue with this unit mini 0806 (batch 3) supplied direct from Combi. I will update again in a week or so, but I truly have had none of the many issues my last unit suffered with.

Alas, my unit packed up yesterday. Audible noise from it indicating the SD card was full, it shutdown and is now completely unresponsive and will not power on.

Am returning to CCS for refund.

Is it recording onto both cards ?

I guess I'll dig my box out ready for mine to pack up too

Way to late to get me enthused I'm afraid ... and I guess others too!

  • 3 months later...

After the initial 'lock up' my cam started working again, save for the issue of not writing to both SD cards.

It has latterly packed up for good though and I've today returned it for a refund.

To that end, I have x3 polarising lens filters for these cams available. As new.

CCS have them for £7.99 plus P&P.

£7 each posted.

PM to purchase please.

Think I must be the last one with one, but swmbo advises it's doing weird things so looks like mine might be going back in the near future too.

Thinking of changing my G1W to which has been really good & reliable but think a change is needed to a dash cam of better quality & with gps, has anyone on this thread bought the mini 806 (3rd release) & if so have you been happy with it!

I'm thinking to purchase the cam from this website http://www.combi.org.uk/products/89/NEW-Mini-0806-Ambarella-A7-1296P-Car-Dash-Camera-DVR-With-GPS

as there based in the UK & I have heard great reviews on them ;)

Cheers

Installed the new 3rd batch mini 0806 today & everything is all working as it should, great quality on 2304x1296 playback via PC :) the only issue I'm having: (hopefully someone might know) is that when I unplug the cigarette lighter plug to turn off the camera, I know you have to wait an extra 10 seconds until the camera actually powers off! But my camera seems to freeze on the screen when I unplug the power lead :( & it locks up, I have to hold the power button down for 20 seconds, I have checked all the settings for power etc & everything is set up correctly? So what can I do to resolve this, as my G1W would never do this when I unplugged the power lead?

Can anyone help that has maybe had this issue, I'm thinking to send it back! As the only way I've noticed is too turn the camera off via the button & then unplug the cigarette power lead but I don't want to be doing this all the time!! :(

I'm still using mine. It's had a couple of lock ups for which I just unplugged the external power & let it drain the battery. After that it was OK. The GPS failed a few months ago, but that was replaced under the warranty. I don't know if this has helped it's longevity, but I haven't updated the software from the original (29012015) based on the premise that if it ain't broke, don't mend it.

I'm still on the original firmware too.

Last I saw they were still hopeful of an update to get the 2nd sd slot working, but I can't find anything that says they have so far

Jeez, a year later and still not fixed an advertised feature!

Getting on for 15 months since I got my 0806 thro' the Group Buy, & it is still going strong (hope I haven't now put the mockers on it, lol). The only update I have done has been the most recent of May 7th 2016 (original software was 28 Jan 2015), & this seems to have addressed the problem of not switching cards.

Checking back thro' the thread, it looks like only 5 people have returned their dashcams from the original 20. How many of that 20 are actually still using the 0806, original or a replacement?

Still original here

I eventually returned mine after waiting several months for the firmware fix.  I now have one of these.
