I've had my money back.

I suspect there is a possibility the hard wire kit is causing the cams/ GPS units to die, with both of mine I had a smell of burning electronics which could have been down to the hard wire kit.

Better to send the cam back than risk the car..

Sad that the good intention of the group buy has ended with disappointment. I am still outstanding the return postage for two faulty units.

Seems this mini 0806 is a Friday issue, you either lucky or unlucky..

My camera is still in it's box, + two 128GB Samsung micro cards, CPS lens, GPS base, hardwire cable, in-car charger, piggy back fuse, total outlay £134.00.

Rigged-up a switch panel and switch to isolate power to camera, and that is as far as I have gotten.LOL

Was silly really me buying it, (not through Briskoda) will probably end-up selling it on E-Bay, can't be bothered to wriggle around inside car fitting it all..(lazy git eh?)

Definitely seems like a voltage issue for those that have been cooked.

Just curious what fuses everyone tapped their piggyback into and what fuse was protecting the camera?

Mines a fuse with break out wire (10A) going to a mini blade holder with 2A fuse then the hardwire kit.

It's a shame so many of you have had such major issues.

I'm really really sorry.

Mine was piggy backed with a 3amp fuse.

Not your fault gadgetman.

I know someone pointed to the base being the cause for toasting them, but isn't it the same one in the 0805 & 0807?

Just checked my footage and there's a lot of times the next video in sequence changes its date & time stamp.

Checked my card (32gb Samsung class 1) for any signs of the recording loop issue. Have lots of files from yesterday's drive, then suddenly changed to random dates & times in 2013 or 2014 before changing back to the correct date. Has anyone else had this with their files? The footage apps have a paddy trying to play as a complete sequence which just leads to it missing these out, despite them being numbered in sequence.

Will grab a screen shot later.

Fuse won't have anything to do with it.

I think it is the cheap hardwire kit that is frying them.

I've kept the hardwire kit installed and was going to use it to provide a charging point for my phone .... not sure that is a wise idea now you having said this!

Have played a couple of times with mine, just coupled-up to computer for power as camera runs on 5volts, and it does get quite warm without using the GPS base, or hardwire, over a short period, of time.

Perhaps sell it befores it fries...LOL

It's just a typical 'MADE IN CHINA' item, take it, or leave it.

No-one is to blame that suggested buying one, or actually buying one, like me, outside 'Briskoda'.

Like others hope not.

Thoughts were an issue I've not seen on a car for years.

On my first car, D plate Polo, there was a slight surge when starting the car like most cars around at that time which killed many of my phone chargers.

I know cars, especially those with can bus, stabilise the power to stop this for many years now.

I know when I installed mine, a number of the fuse slots had voltages which were higher than others. Some metered out at 24v

I seem to remember reading quite a few comments about the 0805 running hot and failing. Perhaps they've made things worse rather than better with the new model.

Either way, they don't seem to be a resounding success :(

Indeed.

It's supposed to be why the 0806 has so many vent holes.

returned mine too as mine seems to have died - couldnt smell anything but just happened randomly!

gone back to ccs and refunded as none in stock. Mine is hard wired too and its a shame to have to return! Anybody got a better camera? same-ish price - has to be a different model as I want to have mine in permanently

I've gone and bought a Blackvue DR3500, it's a bit more expensive and needs a different hard wire kit, but worth it considering the heartache the Mini 0806 has caused!

This looks good but the screen on the 0806 was handy! What price you pay for the blackvue? Where from?

Thanks in advance

CCS have asked me to return the cam for testing. They want me to remove the GPS mount and the hardwire kit. Not particularly impressed with having to remove the hardwire kit as a load of trim will have to come off ........

I'm trying a different brand of card, it seems that 64gb SanDisk ultra cards are causing other people problems as well. If that doesn't solve the issue it is going back, apparently the hardwire kit doesn't need returning.

Well, 3 days in on a genuine Samsung card and the camera is still locking up.

Back it goes, shame as the footage (when it worked) was high quality.

Which resolution are you using? I had issues with 45fps doing that even with the new firmware

The 21:9 30fps one.

Regardless, it shouldn't lock up. 3 different brands of genuine Class 10 cards used now. The lockups are completely random as well, today it locked up within a few seconds, sometimes it is half way through a journey. When it locks up it creates a load of debug files on the card.

Agreed.

Just waiting for mine to pack up too :(

It went back in the post today.

Seems the 3rd batch are a lot more reliable, CCS don't seem to be stocked by them anymore though.

Rumour has it that the parking guard mount is only for the upcoming 0807 so might have to wait for that.

807?

I said I wouldnt buy a mini 0806 but a third gen is apparently out which is meant to be better. CCS refunded me for my camera but I kept the filter and hardwire kit so went onto a website called Combi - read good reviews on other dashcam websites and purchased a Mini 0806. They have good customer service feedback so will report on how it goes!
