Breaking VW Emissions Scandal -Mk I

Featured Replies

Strange!

Just checked my 2013 Superb Greenline Facelift on the Volkswagen website checker.

It states, categorically, that my car is "not fitted with the software that causes discrepancies in the values for oxides of nitrogen........".

Pleasantly surprised.

And as I have posted a couple of days ago, the same answer came back for my 2 ltr 140 CR Oct 2010 manual manufacture , which I would have thought is sure contender for deceit software, so I am highly sceptical of Skoda's replies.

Do not rely on the VW checker for anything other than VW...

I have just tried my old Seat Exeo in the SEAT checker and it said it was involved, I checked it in the VW and it said not effected... My Skoda says not effected in both..

Give them time to get the Checkers for Skoda, Seat & Audi rolled out with the vehicles that are affected in this

situation, as was reported, it will take some time, letters will come out etc etc.

Angela Merkel is saying that the German Industries Reputation will not be hurt long term.

So she maybe needs to kick some butts with those still at the head of Volkswagen, and also wake up and smell the coffee.

Good to see Skoda are last in getting an online checker... :(

My late 2010 Passat 2.0CR is showing not effected on VW's site

Skoda have an Online Checker,

maybe just not the vehicles on it yet that need the Service Campaign Field Action work doing, once VW know what that will be.

Or one Specifically for the Emissions Issue.

Be sure to let Skoda UK Customer Services know if you are un-happy with the VIN Checher

or any other issue, or they will be saying Customers are happy with all they are doing.

I think that is just for safety recalls, although mine was on there last Wednesday then disappeared on Thursday morning... Unless that is a good sign :(

If you put my VIN in the VW site it comes as OK, so it seems to recognise the VIN... If I put my VIN in the VW safety recall site similar to Skoda site it states VIN not recognised... I would have thought it would have said not recognised on the Seat/VW site..

I have already emailed Skoda on Thursday, but no reply as yet....

The Skoda VIN Checker i posted is not 'Just for Safety Recalls',

Because Skoda & the DVSA (Vosa as were) DfT only have Safety Recalls on the 1.2 Diesel 44kw Diesel Leak and the Citigo Airbag Sensors

and maybe some other models issues.  Older Safety Recalls that should have been dealt with long before now.

The so Called Recalls as Manufacturers Service Campaigns, or they should be Recalls where Skoda have contacted Registered Keepers.

Safety Recalls involving Skoda Vehicles should be on here.

http://gov.uk/check-if-a-vehicle-has-been-recalled

Just a thought but don't VAG obtain their published fuel consumption figures using a rolling road? Now a video link a few pages back showed lowered BHP and torque figures when a VW Jetta was run in "test" mode or so they said. Now they could possibly give consumption figures closer to what VAG supply rather than what we get in the real World. Could be a much larger can of worms here than just emissions. Just a thought.

So, does that mean that if nothing comes up on there now, my vehicle is OK?

As I say when I put my VIN in there on Wednesday afternoon, about 4.30ish it did show a recall, but mid morning Thursday it was gone and OK again.. :( Which is strange... Or could this mean that Skoda initially uploaded all VIN numbers then removed one's that were OK?

Seems odd it was on one day then not the next...

Do you know what your engine code is Stuart?

Is it one of the ones in this table? CFJA?

No it does not mean anything.

DVSA (VOSA) DfT Recalls are Safety Recalls.    this is not yet or likely to be a Safety Recall,

it is to be a Service Campaign Notification,

and was reported as to Take some time, 21 days etc.   There is no Rush.

Mine DID come up on the Skoda website in your link, and did say there WAS an outstanding recall... It now say's all is clear... This is why it seems odd ;)

I am confused.

Hey ho. No panic.

Just wait and see.

Stuart,

Yes.

and then it went away.   Loose use of the Word 'Recall'  by Skoda,

often when the Service Campaigns are done, if a Dealer Calls the parson says 'Recall' but seldom do letters get sent,

and not guaranteed to be any contact made with Registered Keepers.

Just the Names / Contacts on the Skoda and Dealers Contact.

People they sold cars to or Serviced.

Recall Actions,  Manufacturers Service Campaigns.     Recalls, Safety, they are required to Contact 'Registered Keepers'

Not in any of the tables on Petr's Skoda EA189 look-up, so I'd think you're OK.

Why can't they just go by reg?  Surely they can marry registrations to VIN's?

Confused ...Lol  ... Does that mean that I take no notice of the Skoda recall checker? even though it was there now its not?

The New Zealand version actually say's service campaigns... ;) result still the same Lol

Hope so, although I am not really worried, just confused why it would appear then disappear, as if it was put on for some reason then taken off...

I did read on a Czech radio station website that a "Skoda" person said 2009-2013 vehicles, mine was built in 2014 but is a 2015 model

I am confused.

Hey ho. No panic.

Just wait and see.

Your confused Lol

I am not panicking, at the end of the day I still suspect it will just be a case of removing dormant code as per my posts earlier so it will make no difference to our cars... plus it appears that you don't really have to have it done if you don't want to... Maybe wait a few months and see what complaints if any materialise, maybe they will do a few updates before they get it right ;)

It means, wait until they get organised, because they are not.

PS. Edit.

With a New Zealand Service Campaign they Contact Registered Keepers properly.

As the SEAT and VW CEO's said they would in Europe with the DQ200 DSG Service Campaign, then never did

and still have not since November 2013 & May 2014 (Skoda UK), just contacting known Customers.

Did seem very odd... I have spoken to a few people who tried there VIN, and all showed as being due a recall/campaign .. then they disappeared.. Will see what happens

Like I say maybe/hopefully initially they "block uploaded" all VIN numbers related to EU5 engined vehicles then deleted one's not included or needing attention? can but hope....

Received a phone call from Skoda UK at 19:42 today, who confirmed that my car is affected. A letter will be sent to me shortly, to confirm their proposed plan of action etc. More than this they do not know at present. A link will also be set up on their website, to keep owners updated of any developments.

Strange for them to call on a Sunday... :)

Can you do me a favor and try your VIN in the Skoda and VW site...

And see if anything comes up... Just want to see if you get the same results as me.. .ALL OK :)

The biggest question is

Will my DTUK box need to go back to be adapted/modified to 'defeat' the power/economy 'fix'?
