To answer my own question earlier re the reliability of the TSI 150 engine and read  various pages in the V W counterpart to Briskoda and find it has  a history of problems, in the non A C T  guise, so with that added feature ( which was the one which  worried me ) potentially adding the engine, I will steer clear of it. So where I go now is open to conjecture.

Your belief, with regard to issue with the 150 TSI, is one I'd like expanded on as my googling couldn't find confirmation.

At the risk of getting OT, I'd like to know more.

Maybe start a specific 'thread' rather than get lost in this muddy pool.

Clever!, deflects the emissions towards the p1ss (urea) thus neutralising NOx.

TonyR.

1.4 TSI / TFSI Euro 5 Engines (Turbo only) and not 'Cylinder on Demand' or 'Active Cylinder Technology'

Do not have the very poor reliability or failures of the Euro 4 1.4 TSI

or even worse the Euro 5 Twinchargers, 160,170 & 180ps.

Euro 6 VW 1.4 TSI / TFSI Engines with or without ACT / COD will show over time if VW built them properly

and never penny pinched on components.

After all they have had enough Experience of building lemons and never admitting it.

'The new open and trustworthy Volkswagen Group are surely now going to be right on all and any Snagging Faults,

and we will no longer hear at Dealerships & from Customer Services, 'They all do that'.

They need to be noise unreliable oil users, to have them with Low Emissions and amazing fuel economy.

10% failure rate. means nothing.

"Overblown on the Internet, people only go there when they have faults".

Clever!, deflects the emissions towards the p1ss (urea) thus neutralising NOx.

Already one of the four I think.

Just read that article. Bloody hell. Wonder if the buyers of cars affected will sue if cars arent the same after said update

It's in the Torygraph, it must be true.

So shareholders sue their own company, which then pays out money, reducing dividends and consequently the value of shares held by the shareholders? Am I missing something?

The most depressing aspect of this is that as Legal Aid is cut to the point where the poor are unable to seek legal redress, Qatar et al will pour bucketloads of money into the pockets of a bunch of greedy lawyers and perhaps wipe out VW into the bargain which will doubtless help shareholders, employees and owners tremendously :(

What does that mean for euro5 engines??

Legal Aid was not available for these sorts of actions.

Lawyers in this country are collecting names of persons on whose behalf they intend to sue. One such firm offered on this thread to act on behalf for owners.

I think the German Government is one of the greater shareholders in V A G so I don't think they will let it go bust, come what may. They will probably do what they did before when I believe B M W were facing the same end, and the then Government baled them out, which paid off handsomely as we now see

An update on the claims against the Volkswagen Group

Dear Anthony

On Thursday 15th October 2015 we wrote to Paul Willis, the Chief Executive of Volkswagen Group UK. We asked him to respond to some of the pressing questions that have been put to us by our clients.

Whilst giving evidence to the Environmental Audit Committee on Thursday morning, Paul Willis commented that it was “paramount that our customers know we do care and we really want to put these things right…”.

In light of these comments, we suggested that in order to demonstrate that intent, Volkswagen should start the process of establishing a settlement scheme to ensure that owners are compensated fairly and quickly. You can read a copy of our letter here.

The key question for many is whether they have a viable claim at this moment in time. This is certainly the case for those owners who have since September 2015 sold or attempted to sell their Volkswagen Group vehicle(s) and have either had to do so at a loss or have been unable to sell it. In these circumstances, there is a quantifiable loss as a result of Volkswagen’s action that can be claimed for now. If this applies to you, please let us know as soon as possible providing us with full details.

We would also argue that those who have purchased their vehicles within the last 30 days should be entitled to a full refund. Please let us know if you have requested such a refund and have been refused.

Other potential losses including damages for the misrepresentation made depend on the refit itself and the impact that any refit will have on the vehicle’s performance, fuel economy, CO2 emissions and resale value. We will be able to quantify those losses once we know what Volkswagen’s solution to the problem is.

German authorities have rejected Volkswagen’s proposal of a voluntary recall and have insisted that a mandatory recall of all vehicles takes place. It is therefore likely that similar action will be required in the UK. We are seeking clarification from the Department of Transport of what steps they are going to take.

We have also been discussing with environmental groups what action can be taken in relation to the environmental impact of Volkswagen’s use of defeat devices and the wider regulatory failure. We will be writing to the Department of Transport and its executive agencies to make a formal request for information under the Environmental Information Regulations.

To read our earlier updates please visit the Leigh Day website here.

We are receiving a number of enquiries from the media regarding the potential legal cases. If you would be interested in talking to the media about this issue please contact our Head of Media Relations, David Standard, by emailing him here.

To get in touch with us about the campaign call 0800 689 4049 or email: [email protected] "

Thank you
