Breaking VW Emissions Scandal -Mk I

Bio.

and Straight Vegetable Oil (SVO) and Used Vegetable oil (Waste Vegetable Oil - WVO) are very different things.

When we produced VWO for our own vehicles we then added the Drain Cleaner & other spirits we wanted to produce

the Bio Fuel', which we ran in the simper engines,  TDI 200 Land Rover engines and the likes.

Up to 2,500 litres a year for Personal Use.

"Simper engine" - travels at a whisper I presume?

Yes sorry my bad.

You are getting your Post count up now.

Are you interested in the subjects on vehicles, or just trolling posters and doing the spelling corrections?

I'm not entirely sure, but I think he was jesting, at least about the post count. You look to be averaging less than 30 post per month whereas he is averaging nearly 500 per month. :D Don't sue me if I am wrong

I wondering how long of a warranty would new injectors and any other parts have on my 2011 1.6tdi. I do not like the idea of my local doing the work. I wonder if recalls can be done at Audi or VW dealer.

Couldn't possibly sue a George Clooney fan, he's married to a hot shot lawyer and it could all backfire on me!

I don't think George realises we have a special connection.................yet!

He's not "the man down the street" then?

All I'll say is be very wary. That was my attitude a few years ago. The biggest mistake I made was letting a Skoda dealer replace the injectors.

This thread sums it up quite concisely...

I appreciate this was a few years ago on a now obsolete engine but it is still fresh in my (and many other affected owners) memory.

This wasn't a one-off dealer mistake, this was an inherent issue across the UK caused directly by dealers carrying out what should have been a relatively simple job. Quite what went wrong we still don't know. What I do know is that there are still a lot of rough running MkII PD170 Octavia's out there with engine oil that is being contaminated with diesel fuel that Skoda UK have washed their hands of.

Hmm, I was thinking something like that. When it comes to it, ill ask if my trusty independent can do it for them.

And the irony award goes to the garage who today told me the EGR on the works car (which is affected) is FUBAR.

£1200 apparently for a new one

Re your 'location'

Should that read 'by the lake'?

In Australia, at least, we were given an assurance that emission control equipment would perform reliably for a minimum of 10 years.

It resulted from the shoddy stuff they put on the first series of emission controlled cars starting in 1976.

Unfortunately I remember it well.

I have a standing question on this, as to why we should pay when the component DOESNT last the promised time.

My belief is that the reason is nobody has thought about it or, more particularly, don't know about the agreement.

I'm of the opinion that it's something the trade don't want questioned.

The thread

'The ten year promise' ....General Car Chat

As one of our lovely politicians would point out, a promise is not a guarantee as it would be agreed without all parties that are involved in the promise to have their consent or agreement.

I hereby give my consent.

Exhaust pipes and mufflers were mild steel and wouldn't last and as a result we got stainless steel throughout ......with no fanfare......funny that!

Can not see this running with Skoda UK, It will have to be a franchised dealer or nothing i suspect. I too have a 1.6TDI and am a little concerned about the amount of mechanical work that is being talked about on this thread. I can not see how my car will not lose power/torque if these new injectors ensure that less fuel is being put in.... my car is the lower end of the 3 engines maps designated for my model !! If there is a reduced figure in terms of power for my car then i can see no reason why i and others can not take legal action, our cars will be worth less as who wants a 50bhp (or similar) 1 ton car ?

I am confused.  You say you have a 1.6TDI but your profile says 1.9TDI.  As far as I am aware no 1.9s are affected.

With the MOT only being a Smoke test, and VED not being affected, is there any point in having the software upgrade when it arrives.

Fair point, is there any need to have the upgrade if it might effect engine performance/mpg etc.

I assuming that we don't have to have it right away but can hang on and see what transpires.

there is a "need" if you get certification needed for MOT test, that VW has performed fix for your car and you have "clean" diesel engine now. No certificate from VW service - no MOT.
Then, you must prove that performances are affected, and suite VW.

I am confused.  You say you have a 1.6TDI but your profile says 1.9TDI.  As far as I am aware no 1.9s are affected.

I have both !!!  A mint 1.9tdi elegance in 06 and my 60 plated elegance 1.6cr.

ppejic,

Which country are you talking about.?

Have the EU Countries removed Certification on Euro 5 Emission VW, Skoda, Audi, Seat cars subject to these Service Campaign Recalls on vehicles that have been sold & Registered between 2009-2015.?

I see that Martin Winterkorn is expected to resign yet again but this time from the job he kept with Porsche when he resigned from being head of the Volkswagen.

All balls buffets and banquets in his life, lets hope he gets some Soap on a Rope as going away gifts.

or maybe some petroleum jelly, to easy his way next year.
