you still get paid 45p a mile when travelling for work

You shouldn't be claiming that since you don't have an engine over 1.4l swept volume.

  • Hydrogen will be the leap forward. Infrastructure, battery technology, and insufficient lithium reserves mean battery power will never become mainstream

  • VAG will find a way to fit complex drive belts that need changing every 4 years and DSG that will be ultra reliable.....

  • Believe it or not, London congestion charge is not an issue for the vast majority of us living in the UK.

what should I be claiming then?

this is what HMRC says

Tax: rates per business mile

Type of vehicle First 10,000 miles Above 10,000 miles
Cars and vans 45p (40p before 2011 to 2012) 25p
Motorcycles 24p 24p
Bikes 20p

20p

Companies can pay what they like for cars their employees use but if they keep to the Treasury rates then no tax implications.

UK Customs bosses use to go ape **** when we refused to do car journeys after we hit the 10K  limit, made me laugh. Then reset on April 6th and we would start again.

If you get more than the 45p-10k, 25p-over that then you are suppose to pay tax on it.  If you get less than the Treasury rate then you can claim the difference as something that can up you tax code !

Buy second hand.

Don’t pay anyone for servicing ever again,  particularly if it’s out of warranty.

Top up your own washer tank.

Put air in your tyres.

e-recovery should mean little brake use.

Exploit the sun and don’t worry about the mileage.

Not today but there are 44 cities due to join London in pollution charging so when goes to big cities to shop, because your High street has shut down in your small to medium side town, the pollution charging mechanism acts to stop internal combustion cars going in to cities but welcomes EVs with free electricity (like Oxford's free 50 EV charging spaces). Coming to a cityzone near you.....

Like refueling a light aircraft - an earthing lead system of some sort perhaps.

America has some sort of refueling fume recovery system I’ve noticed.  I hate being subjected to the fumes.

it's down to the battery temperature, if it is below the optimum range then the chrge rate is slowed. ANd it is determined by the temperature at the start of the charge

had a drive in the e kona tonight - seriously impressive car
