Mine's the same, all good in reverse. i tried it already several times, accelerating on an empty road just for test and there is no hesitation regardeless how you use the clutch.

Xman wrong again LOL. I don't agree with your assumption about not being a mapping issue. I have a very sensitive right foot and when my Octavia was mapped twice I could tell the differences both times. This seems having driven our Karoq for more than 12 months and over 12,500 miles it is a mapping issue and it beggars belief they haven't been able/capable to come up with a quicker software fix by now.

They simply can not ... When they hardly got WLTP and RDE test done and surely had to tweak engine ECU management that way that NOx and PM values are within emission norms, they can not that easily tweak the software again to increse driving comfort, as this would increase NOx values too ...

Mind the fact RDE ISC (In Service Conformity) means in the future even older models from independent owners will get tested again to verify emissions are within the norm ...

I assume MY 19 manual petrol karoqs like mine with Gpf (opf) use the ECU software from 30.7.2018

It would be interesting to know if anyone without the Gpf is getting the power loss problem with a warm engine (3+ Seconds at low revs when trying to smoothly pull away).

Hi, they do seem to be the same fault.

I think the German threads and tpi may be cars with a Gpf/ opf (Faults Oct 2018, no indication of car age).

The Italian one probably not (2017 golf).

So, for any dealers trying to flog you a 1.5 TSI, assuring you there are no issues, and they've certainly not heard of any, all you have to do is quote a few numbers and letters, and that should wipe the smile off their faces...

Watchdog have just come back to me today, I shall hopefully get to speak with them soon.

Hi xxxx,

Thanks for getting in touch with Watchdog.

It’d be great to have a chat about your Skoda issue, what would be the best number/day to call on?

Hopefully speak soon.

All the best,

xxxx

Mr Maciej,

1) Does this Seat occur jerking when starting from the 1st gear so called Kangarooing in cars with motor 1.5 tsi?;

2) How do you evaluate a manual gearbox compared to a tested Skoda KAROQ with the same engine? Something changed?

Jumps forward in the creep (maneuvering in the garage, etc.) - yes. Returning the car after the test, I suggested taking a look at the software.

The box has better gear ratios than Karoqu, no problem with dying.

Anybody else had a reply ?

I emailed but haven't heard anything back from them. I'd be only too willing to tell them my story

I got a reply from DVSA, Interesting that "the media" are beginning to sit up and take notice now. Perhaps VWAG will now do something.

I have noticed but only a couple of times the low power low gear and stalling in first gear issue with the engine restarting itself on depressing the clutch.

The stop start system wasn't activated by the dealership when I collected the car and it still hasn't been by me.

I do find I drive the 1.5TSI differently, gear change and throttle use, to the way I drove my previous Honda 1.4 VTEC petrol Jazz and before that a 2.0 litre petrol Subaru Forester both non turbocharged.

They will have tested pre- emissions 'tuned' models which have no 'characteristic'

The Telegraph review picked up on it's unique ability to lurch out in front of an oncoming Scania truck

Smooth so long as you don't drive around town or at less than 50 mph

As in doesn't happen in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th or 6th gear in our manual, so most of the time no jerkiness. We both don't drive much in town otherwise would have ticked the DSG option (more excitement on roundabouts then I suppose, oh well).

This highlights an interesting point in terms of vehicle reviews. With updates to ECUs which alter the operating characteristics of vehicles these days, it begs the question whether an archived review sustains its relevance.

It might be too much to ask that motoring publications re-review vehicles at periods, but in cases like this where there are significant swellings of feedback, maybe they should. Essentially the reviews out there now for launch models are not accurate and potentially could work to mislead prospective buyers.
