So I finished my first full eco-tank today. The car managed 435 miles with the range indicator reading zero as I got home. This is a completely standard 245 manual estate - good going for a high performance petrol car with only a 50L tank.

If the 245 can achieve these figures I wonder what the 1.4 / 1.5 petrols are capable of.

Did 426 miles with 90 left in the tank but done a lot more miles than you and always in SPORT.

So you may know the 19" Gloss Black Extremes are off to their new owner soon so my winter wheels have been on the car for just 11 days and less than 100 miles (been on holiday). 3 days earlier than planned ( I have no patience) just got the new RS6 replica wheels with Michelin PS4 S tyres (235/35R19) fitted and OMG I'm in love. This is pure WHEEL PORN!

Coming into the fold with my 245 manual & petrol (did not like DSG). Can't wait to pick up. A few extras but most important is keyless entry. No more key sticking in my knee! It's my Mad Max/KIT/Police cruiser!

My MK2 face-lift is going to auction heaven

Welcome to the Darth Vader club. Mine looked like yours 12 months ago but can't stop myself tinkering with it.:blink:ENJOY.

Thanks. Now you've peaked my interest. Prey tell what mods await me? I won't be looking to mod anything that affects insurance mind.

Definitely considering getting a paint correction and ceramic coating as black is going to trigger my OCD!

Was that supposed to be paint protection! Wish I had ceramic coated mine lots of scratches on my bonnet hence my need to apply the bonnet stripes LOL (see earlier photo's). Probably get bonnet and roof (I have the electric roof) chrome wrapped at some point to blind those coppers following me in helicopters!

Got to wondering how heavy is a standard Vrs245 Extreme 19" alloy and P Zero 225/35R19 tyre combo so answer is 22.5 KG. Then got me thinking how much does an aftermarket Dezent 7.5J x 18" alloy with 225/40R18 tyre (P Zero Rosso) weigh, answer is 21.9 KG. So if you want to make your Vrs245 2.4 Kg lighter ditch the 19's and go for 18's.

Very excited today just ordered full 3" Milltek stainless exhaust system with downpipe and Sports Cat, Airtec intercooler and induction kit, stainless brakelines and Dot 5 brake fluid. Will find out middle of September when all parts arrive when the big day is for fitting and the stage 2 re-map is only £120 because AmD in Essex already did the custom stage 1 re-map back in March. Should go from 248bhp in August 2017 to current 302bhp upto (at least) 350bhp by October 2018. Updates to follow.

Not aware of anyone else gone stage 2 on a Vrs245 yet.:notme:

Has anyone gone down the route of adding mud flaps to their 245? I've looked all over, but everywhere says that there aren't any to fit the 245. Any ideas? I don't wanna chance it and fork out £££ to find that they don't fit anyway. Many thanks.

Yeah they should look nice for £1,463 including the PS4's. Although the 18" are my winter wheels they have Pirelli P Zero Rosso tyres which are indeed summer tyres, give yourself a big pat on your back!

Perfect, thank you!

Some of you may have seen this on the FB page already but thought i'd post it here, might be of interest.

So my VRS245 has been running a JB4 since it was just a few weks old back in Feburary.

A couple of weeks ago I fitted an ECE HJS RS245 3" downpipe with 100 cell pre cat and 200 cell main cat, the beauty of this downpipe is it can be fitted to a non-flash tuned RS245 and it wont throw up any CEL on the dash as the cat's used keep it compliant with the Euro 6c emissions standard, it's expensive but as I have no plans to flash tune the car this was important to me.

I also fitted a Racingline turbo elbow, Ramair panel filter and intake hose into the standard airbox, and sold the Arma full carbon intake I previously had fitted, to be honest it was a bit vocal for my tastes.

Ecotune here in Glasgow, a very highly regarded VAG, BMW and Porsche tuning specialist and APR dealer, were having a charity dyno day so I popped along on the day for a bit of banter and the chance to get the 245 on the rollers for a donation to a very worthy cause.

They were using the day to promote their own (very good) remaps and the APR options too, along with excellent discounts on hardware.

So to summarise, just a JB4 with a custom Map6, downpipe, panel filter, hose and elbow.

331bhp & 370 ft/lbs torque.

If anyone was in any doubt on the ability of the JB4 system then this should speak for itself, I'm now running very healthy stage 2 power levels with perfect fuelling and a fantastic timing curve with 12.5 degrees of ignition advance right at the redline.   I'm only peaking 23psi tapering down to 16psi at the limiter too so really not stressing the turbo to much at all.

does the JB4 require much setup and tweaking?

As much or as little as you like really.

Plug and play:

There's MAP1 which you can run on a standard car running 95-99 ron fuel.

MAP2 for 97-99ron fuel

Custom/Configurable:
And MAP6 which is a custom tune, you set boost levels for the given RPM, you can have boost limits per gear so for example I run stock boost in 1st and 2nd, you set a boost safety limit, mines 25psi and if you overboost at all then the unit will swirtch to failsafe mode (MAP4) automatically, I've never had this happen though as im not pushing the boost paticularly high, I'm making power from lower boost and better timing which is how it should be done ideally.

George from BMS will work with you to come up with a custom MAP6 if you are new but it's really very simple once you get the hang of reading the logs and understanding how it all comes together to produce the power.

So plug and play if you like or tune your own map if you want to dive in a bit further and with additional hardware, you can even run the IS38 with these.

It's the only piggyback that has direct control over AFR and Canbus connection, that's key.

The logging functionality is fantastic also and it's got built in code reading/clearing.

The latest firmware has valet mode where the car runs very little boost at all if you had to leave it somewhere and had any concerns about the car being driven without your consent.

They're working on "auto-tune" where the system will apply an adaptive map on the fly and using all the data will tune the car to it's potential automatically at any given point, that will be released in the not too distant.

Here's an example of a recent log of mine...

Congrats on some impressive numbers and contributing to a charity at the same time. The 331bhp matches Ant-Vrs VRS220 when it was at stage 2 which doesn't surprise me, also producing it at less than 5,300 revs is good because that's 200 revs less than my stage 1 with 29bhp more. However what is odd is that your maximum torque is way up at 4,500 revs albeit at 370lb/ft and mine is 25 less but at only 2,800 revs, unless this is to try and limit wheel spin which is understandable.

Overall though this is very encouraging for me knowing what is going to be done on my car in the next month. The only decision I wondered about was to choose between the Ram Air induction kit or Airtec but went with the latter to match the new intercooler. Very interesting news for all 245 owners so thanks again, it's good to share!
