Tony I think it would be easier to push harder in one of the Ring taxi's (not your own car) because once you're on the grass the next thing are the barriers. Or better still pay for an expert to talk you round the lap which I have seen on the net where a guy who drives an Octavia very fast indeed even overtaking a Porsche.:D

You got me wrong,  I wasn't dissing him, just stating the obvious.

Mine will be fully open all the time, standard exhaust just too quiet for me. MORE NOISE IS GOOD, might drown out neighbour's rattly BMW diesel! LOL.:)

You need to be careful taking things too far, mr killjoy.gov.uk is stepping up. I would do it discretely, certainly not by putting a large bore noisy exhaust on. As if it is "more noise" that in itself is illegal and doesn't have to be measured, a copper can just decide it is noisier than a standard car and issue an instant fixed penalty. Durham Police seem to be cranking up on this one, the idiots with the exploding piles of crap done it in for all. That's when a copper on probation or a mission could go for the kill with emissions. Unlimited fines are now applicable for a car that has been modified to no longer meet its original type approval, and that is likely to be a heavily remapped and/or modified car. Next step is mot's picking it up and automatically feeding it back onto the data base. See    https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/modifying-your-vehicles-emissions/modifying-your-vehicles-emissions-the-legal-safety-and-health-implications

I doubt a bluefin or similar stage 1 without other mods  would be a conern, it's the next level. And the law clearly states it is the driver who bears 100% responsibility.

Is that you mother? I told you not to bother me when I'm online. Just added up the CO2 total from your 3 cars and you have probably killed 100 trees so far this year. SORRY TO BE SUCH A KILLJOY!:D

Unless VW group do it themselves to all their EA189-engined diesels...

Yep, that's why the chairman of Audi is currently locked up awaiting trial and the US head of VW is doing a long stretch

Trying to understand what point you are making on the 245 owners thread unless you are a vindictive M.O.T. tester!

Must be NEWBIE SYNDROME, he will have to deal with DUNC69 and TIM1631 if he continues wasting oxygen.:tongueout:

The point is what it is, just be aware of plod and the possible consequences of modifying your car. I am not saying I disagree with it, I have tuned a few. The relevance of it here is it is what some of us like to do.  On a more factual level I would like to know at what point we would be breaking the law a sin taking it outside of its original approval, there must be a window to work with but how far can you go. I would have thought the Dyno should tell you that information?

Over the last 2,300miles in my MODIFIED car I've averaged 42mpg (can send a photo to back up this claim). The official combined Government figure for my car is 42.8MPG so I very much doubt you are getting within 1mpg of the combined figure of any of your cars. Therefore you drive faster than me and regularly break the speed limit. I have a clean licence no points can you claim the same. My neighbour drives a Vauxhall Meriva and has 9 points so who is the better driver in the opinion of the law.

Do you drive extremely slowly to achieve such an average or maybe you have fitted a tuning box which has knocked your fuel calibration way out. Fact is if you use the power you use the fuel, more power = more fuel. That's where the power comes from.

What does it matter what mine or yours are getting? If your really interested the VRS has always averaged 37 -39 and can hit its claimed 45. .. whatever without to much ridiculous effort. The A6 falls short, it would, its a diesel, averages about 45. Over 50 on a longer  run. The focus is the best against claimed, 38-40 average and 45 on steady run. Claimed is 41.5. However all three can easily be put into low 20's, by hoofing them.

My car has been professionally remapped by a company that build racing cars in the 2018 BTCC. It has 97NM more torque than standard so that I do not have to rev it as hard as your standard 230 to achieve the same cruising speed therefore my best journey average was 53.5MPG not because I am a better/slower driver than you just that my car is set up for optimal performance/economy and I always use Shell V Power 99 octane fuel which consistently gives me an extra 60 miles per tank. The first 7,000miles my car averaged 37MPG when standard much like yours. My driving style has not changed over the last 35 years on the road, it is just that technology has advanced so much you can have more power and use less fuel or there would be no tuning companies in existence if it was only about going faster.:o

Quick question, will a JB4 adjust the fueling? My car is fine on the highway but rather hideous around town, I live and work in a town where my daily 15min commute is lots of roundabouts, lots of accelerating up to 45mph (for you colonists;)) and back to a stop and the fuel use is quite bad, sitting on about 25mpg and that is driving carefully. I can't get a remap because the car is leased, but I'm not sure if a JB4 will improve economy.

That's one for Murray to answer
