Have petrol VRSs ever had or needed under bonnet insulation? My Mk2 certainly didn't have it.  Out of interest  @Badlammy have you disabled the artificial noise generator?

Nope don't see the need to as I'm no pro driver and the sound does not bother me at all.

AFAIK no Mk3 petrol Octavias have ever had the under bonnet insulation.

Is it needed? - No, the petrols Octavias pass the drive-by noise requirements without it, but some of us like the extra refinement when it's fitted - less engine noise and no "clang" when you shut the bonnet.

Fair enough, the bonnet clang is not something that had occurred to me.  Certainly the Mk3 Tsi VRS is pretty quiet engine wise without it.  Difficult to hear above the VRS noise generator for example (if you don't disable it).

Very nice indeed. Condition looks immaculate, that red really pops!

Would be great if alloys were all black. Black spoiler and black roof wrap would be my next move.

I think it makes the engine bay look tidier. Also less need to wipe wet crap off inside edges of open bonnet lid space. Should have been fitted as standard imo.

Fitted one to my face lift MK2 and always felt it helped with snow and ice. Don't know why? Maybe it retained some heat or spread it across bonnet?

Love the armrest tray - really useful, so just ordered one too.

BTW - if i was spending £70k on a car - not sure i would have gone for a VRs!!

Everything car wise is expensive in Singapore, chronic import taxes unfortunately.

Yeah one of my mates lives out there - i think you also need a permit to buy a car, something like £10k for a permit, and there are limited numbers of them too!

Correct.

I think you guys are referring to the certificate. We call it COE, and each lasts 10 years, not that it costs £10k. Without it, you cannot own a car.

The price is determined by a bidding system. The latest COE now is about £18k.

So yes, if I wish to continue owning the car after 10 years, I've got to bid again then. Otherwise off to scrapyard.

Was advised against going for 245 tyres on a 20"rim by my local wheel specialist. He said not even a Golf owner would try this combo due to fouling.:blink:Plenty of grip from 8.5J with 235/35R19 tyre due to the increased track front and rear and no need for spacers either.

The wife keeps checking the window is closed, dunno why though

Just ordered up the DSG tuneup box (TCU) from DTUK, let you know what it's like once fitted.

Gonna need a before & after, they would seem to have a vested interest

They did the stage 1 re-map back in March, so 248bhp standard with 400NM of torque, then 302bhp and 467NM afterwards, but has they run 4 cars in the BTCC this year pretty sure their rollers are very accurate or they wouldn't get past the scrutineers.:notme:

So this happened yesterday whilst parked at work.

No no note left of course.

I’m soooooooo p______d off.

Whoever has done it, knows they’ve done it and with some force!
