Build/Delivery Timescales.....   I placed an order with the dealer two weeks ago, does anybody have an idea of how long I might expect to wait for a delivery date and/or how long build/delivery is currently taking?  Thanks

Seems to be down to about 13 weeks on that model at the moment so you should be picking it up at the end of April.

This happened to me yesterday, I had the Golf serviced & the same message appeared.  'It's  a bit strange that both keys needed new batteries after the swervice,  the spare key has only been used 4/5 times since  I've owned the car. (April '18).

A quick trip to the nearest Poundstretcher, (by bus, free 'cos I'm old...) for new batteries, & after fitting them to both keys the message has gone.

For some reason I remember having the Low Keyfob Battery warning appear on the Maxidot when I had both keys in the car.

The dealer should be able to privide you with a build date after 2 weeks. You can also get a reference number so you can check with Skoda UK yourself. Build week to delivery can be around 2 to 3 weeks give or take. I ordered at the start of November and was given a build date of late January, somehow I ended up getting it at the end of December (so 8 weeks thereabouts).

I remember waiting around 16 weeks for my 2016 model!

I waited 12 weeks for my previous one, which I'm still missing.

Had delivery this morning and took it for a quick cruise to get used to it. Wow it's different next to the Ford. Refined, quiet and most of all quick! Very, very happy so far.

Is that the standard wheels now on the 245, are they not the 19's like I have on my MY18?

They are the standard, only option was the space saver wheel.

Yes, yours is the 'special edition' vRS 245. The 245s being delivered now are 'just' a normal vRS with a 245ps drive train, so normal vRS parts to be expected.

Supposed to be picking up new Quartz Grey Octavia VRS Tsi DSG with DCC at 10.00am today.  Got a call on Friday to say that there was a problem with the lights so it wouldn't be ready until 4.00pm today.  Just got a call to say that they haven't been able to sort the lights out and that none of the techies/mechanics have any idea what the problem is.  So probably won't get the car at all today.  Needless to say that I am very unhappy.  More so since I have sorted out the insurance to switch over to new car today - so old car won't be insured tomorrow - and I need it for work.  Hopefully they're going to sort me out with a courtesy car but I'm waiting for a call-back.

I asked the young salesman if this meant that the new car is a 'Friday afternoon' car and whether this means I will have a string of problems throughout my ownership of it.  His reply was 'I couldn't say'.  Not a good start.

I would recommend that you fit the sound deadening mat to the bonnet it makes it even quieter!

I got mine from the Czech Republic for £35 delivered as the UK dealers won't sell it. It makes it warm up quickly as a bonus too.

I've fitted a similar sound deadening pad to our Mk 2 Octy vRS's, it was a problem to get the part number, ( only listed for the diesel versions......) but not a problem

getting it ordered from a Skoda dealer. Came with all the fasteners too.

Not needed with my Superb, fitted at factory.

Q? Would a new vRS  be a sensible replacement for my Superb? Lighter & quicker off course, but still too much power for the front wheels to handle from a standstill?

The equipment levels on the current car seem to be lacking in the creature comforts that were standard in my old beastie or the earlier vRS245's.

The VAQ diff from the Golf Gti helps a lot but having a sensitive right foot when applying the power in 1st and 2nd gear helps more. If you have no sensitivity or a heavy right foot I would suggest sticking with a Superb 280 which are designed for people who find a Golf R too small but want rapid acceleration away from the traffic lights. To win the race first you must finish as Mr.Schumacher demonstrated on no fewer than 91 attempts.:nerd:

How old was the Porker. The reason I ask because the 325-355bhp normally aspirated versions are quite easy to overtake in a 245, must be the low down torque (mine had 400NM when standard at 2,700rpm).

Thanks, good luck with the new motor it might surprise you in a good way.:inlove:

The "beast" is having its wheels changed at the moment, with the weather forecast being for snow and icy conditions, I thought it would prudent to have my winter wheels/tyres put on instead of risking getting stuck, having some unsolicited off road action or unwanted rear end contact.

I know that it won't stop it entirely but it should help a bit.

only direct injection for the RS245 engine code DLBA?

Are we getting any pics of the new car soon? ;)

C'mon don't be SHY, oh that's me!:x

Spent more time with the car yesterday and loved it even more. Kids and wife approved after picking up the other half from work although got told to slow down when coming down a slip road! That's where the extra power is noticed the most as could pull away when needed to slot in neatly into the traffic. Always a lottery in an underpowered car.

The only very minor annoyance I have is my Galaxy s7 edge is too wide for the mobile holder, very Apple focused! The compartment under the infotainment is ideal though.

Do you have the newer holder with the section for the key fob and some coin slots, or do you have the older one with just the phone slot?

The newer one is much wider. My Pixel 2 XL is fairly large and fits in the new holder in its case.

This is the newer one (can probably get it cheaper elsewhere though)

Finally picked up new Quartz Grey Octavia VRS Tsi DSG with DCC today.  Mysterious problem with indicator unit fixed by swapping some sort of box unit with one from another new Octavia - but they've ordered a brand new totally up-to-date version of the offending box and will fit when available.  They actually bent over backwards to help and offered various sweeteners from the accessories brochure (stopping short of a wheel upgrade).  They are adamant that this is not indicative of a 'problem' car.  Time will tell..

However - very happy with the car.  A far less shouty colour (quartz grey instead of red) and 18" wheels instead of 19".  Not massively different to my previous 2016 VRS 220 (inside and out) except for the extra 25 horses (or is it PS), DCC and interior LEDs.  I have yet to have a proper play with the DCC settings but should be fun experimenting.
