Map update

Recommended Posts

there is no problems with ECE (European) Maps.
the issue is with the MRM (Rest of World) Maps.  the maps from the Skoda Portal are missing a number of files and folders.

i don't know if Skoda have rectified this.

At 24 Gb a pop, its not something i want to waste my time, or bandwidth on, to see if skoda resolved it.

the MRM maps from the VW Portal is perfect, and the Columbus is very happy with it.

I'm not seeing them yet on the portal, still showing the 2018/19 ones for me

I believe the RoW (MRM) Maps won't b updated till next year.

It's just the European (ECE) Maps that have the November update.

Put in my VIN & offered the update. Downloaded & copied the 2 folders * metainfo text file to the same SD I've used before. When I insert the card into the slot there is a pop up saying update detected on sd card 2 then when I go to update via card it times out looking for update files.

Never had this issue before.

Any ideas?

Thanks

I'm in Europe though, the site has updated as it no longer says about the November update

on Škoda's portal update usually comes with two weeks delay
but currently even VW portal do offer previous 2018/2019 maps
path to the new 2019 file i have guessed by modifying titles of previous files

For some reason VW ECE2019 update doesnt fit to my Columbus. Dowloaded 3 times, unzipped (7-zip 18.05. x64), directly to sd card and then from laptop) and formatted (full, quick, not only win10) sd card several times. Update goes up to 18% and the I just receive all the time "software update was interrupted" error. Original Škoda portal ECE2018/2019 update installs perfectly, installed 2018/2019 maps 2nd time to be sure. However some maps are updated to 2019 after error.

Of course I can wait until original ECE2019 is ready for downloading but any ideas maybe?

@Viiking

try another SD Card or USB Flash

at first attempt i got also "software update was interrupted" error,
but new files were copied without remove previous on the SD Card
after formatting SD Card(ntfs) update went without problems.
under Win10 too

Tested first with usb flash too and with 7-zip but no success.

Solution was using Total Commander for unpacking instead of 7-zip :). The same fat32 formatted sd card was fine.

Doh

uodated through the Skoda portal.

It recognises as as soon as I put the SD card in there’s an update, but then when going to update it times out and does this.

Are you on a Mac by any chance?

No windows.

I also reformatted the SD card to FAT32 before copying on to the disc. I’m not sure how good a SD card is though. It’s a 64gb class 10 but I’m using a micro one in an adapter.

Which update did you do? As said, I used the link rather than the portal, but I found the 2018/19 update to be much more problematic than either the 2018 or 2019 ones in terms of stopping/failing during download to PC, and the first time I thought the download had completed it was corrupted and I got a similar message to yours (can't remember if it was exactly the same). I always save to hard drive first then copy the folders to an SD card.

Two things to try: use a USB to eliminate the SD card being at fault,  and/or try downloading again.

Edit to add: yes you can use a USB, though I haven't done it myself.
