Sorry for late reply and you probably have it done now. I left the ignition on but not the engine. I got the impression if the power was off it wouldn't download.

All done now, thanks for your assistance Paul and other contributors to this thread.

Well, I can confirm that you do not need to leave the ignition on or have the car running.

I inserted the SD card in to slot 2 in the glove box, switched on ignition and it recognised an update was available.  Clicked on update and watched it's progress for a few mins then switched off and removed the key, locked the car and checked about an hour later and the update was at 42% complete, so locked up again.  Rechecked at 1/2 past midnight to find all was complete, removed the card and that was that.

Great that this can be done without leaving ignition on, makes updating so much less hassle.

  • Leave it downloading overnight   Im on 350mbps so it took about 20 mins for me, in fact it took longer to unpack to my SD card than the downloading of the 25gb

Good to hear. Has the update made any change to your maps?

Hi Paul, I haven't had a chance to see if any noticeable changes have occurred on the new map as I just checked update had completed at 00:30 hrs, removed card, locked up and went to bed lol.

Will check it out over the coming days - thanks once again for your assistance 👍

No worries 😀

I apply all the updates as they become available (2016 car so I think I've done three so far).  It now correctly detects that I'm on the A1 and not in a field (Off-road! Do a U-turn! Not that way!) on the new section near Leeming Bar.

Ha! There's a name that conjures up a vision: sounds like where you stop to have your last ever drink. 🙂

Hi guys.

Can tell me some talented expert, if its possible to update separately the maps? Or just delete some regions from the internal hard drive. For exaple if i dont need Russia, this is 6GB. Its possible to edit the internal memory? Because the checksums it is posibble update with the full package?

thank you!

You can if developer mode is activated then use swdl update and choose countries that you want to update for instance. May I ask for what do you need it?

Thank you very much for the info. Yes, i have developer mode activated as well. With the years the file size of each map data is increasing always. i dont plan to sell my car and i dont plan visit Russia with my car. So the data is useless rubbish on the internal hard drive. Because this i like choose what country i need, whatever still i like to use Sygic instead of the build in satnav.
